Teniel 09-15-08, - 09:01 AM The Ministry should simply do away with the registation fee since it will in no way affect the child's ability to attend. One would think that a registration fee was not asking much in the public school system.

No disrespect, but good lord some of yall are out of touch with some people's realities in this country. More people than you know just dont have it. If you arent one of those people or dont know such people personally you may think such a thing is a bunch of caca.
I have a very close friend who is a single mother struggling to make ends meet who the other day only had 50cents to her name. Thats many people's realities in this country.

I can understand that. Some people complain about paying a registration fee but when their child go to school they wearing Land belt, the most expensive shoes, and Kipling bag. So obviously their priorities in the wrong direction. Im not talking about the single mother who trying to make ends meet. Situations like that I can understand and say to her dont worry about paying the registration fee.

Tru, you are right about those Bahamians who een focus when it comes to priorities. But I just wanted to highlight that there are many still who really are struggling in this country. They, like much of the world's poor, are often under the radar though always under our noses or right next door.

Thats not a nice thing to say , things are really hard in this country for some people , not everyone can afford land belts, clarks or 3000 proms, there are people in this country that are really hurtin and most of the time the kids are workin to buy what they need because their perents cant afford it. Lets have some compassion for these poor people please.
Lady_chippie 09-15-08, - 12:12 PM Some people simply cannot afford the $90.00 fee.

How can some of these parents home school thier kids when they have to work a 9-5 job?
Then on top of that if they cant afford a 90.00 reg fee do you think they can pay for home schooling?
They are better off working to keep food on the table and keeping a close eye on thier kids, such as visiting with teachers and making sure thier homework is done etc
