View Full Version : The Outside Children Phenomena
Alien 06-08-05, - 11:04 AM Today's women just don't care...their anthem is they can do it without a man's help, then later, I will take him to court to get the 32 dollars a week, child support.
Yesterdays' women apparently didnt care either... ;)
I am sure you can go to your Grandmum and her age group, and they probably had on an average 4 kids...that average today is an absurd amount of children!
At that time, the community was smaller, the women "on average" were less educated "the main reason why women have more kids in a society" and the economy was small..plus, men were around alot longer than the fast paced modern Bahamian man!
with all of that, by no means were girls having more kids today, than on an average our Grandparents had...it looks like more becasue their are "MORE" (Bold, underlined, italics in quotation marks :p ) women in the population along with the known phenomena of more women per capita!
NASBWI 06-08-05, - 11:08 AM I wonder when ya'll will get ya'll head out the sand & understand my post.SMT..And you say I have issues. All right I'm going to try this once more...@ Y2K & Teniel I am not excusing anybody(unlike you two who mentioned deadbeat dads) my post mentioned the women BECAUSE THEY are usally the ones @ the courts looking for child support, knowing full well @ the time of their pregancy that they could not take care of the child themselves if it came to it(which it always does)All I'm saying is that YOU should not bring a child into this world if you yourself dn't know how you are going to take care of it. ps Take this how you will,But I have never seen a man @ the hospital with a big belly.
So it's somehow 100% fault of the woman who became pregnant? Last time I checked (concurring with Teniel), it takes two to tango. Not to excuse the actions of the woman in that situation; but just because a man can't get pregnant doesn't mean he's exempt from sharing the responsibility of the life he helped to create.

Just as many of the men's attitudes are: "Get married, then have girls on the side in case my wife starts giving me grief. If I have kids on the side, oh well - at least I'm having fun. Not my problem if she gets knocked up". I should know; my (now ex) brother-in-law and a bunch of his friends tried to indoctrinate me at a young age about the joys of sweethearting. Ugh.

you seem to have some unresolved issues with kids born out of wedlock..and not the parents themselves, and you seem to have some sexist views on raising children, and seem to think that getting pregnant is entirely a Woman's fault!!
@ Y2K & Teniel I am not excusing anybody(unlike you two who mentioned deadbeat dads) my post mentioned the women BECAUSE THEY are usally the ones @ the courts looking for child support, knowing full well @ the time of their pregancy that they could not take care of the child themselves if it came to it(which it always does)
Of course they are trying to force dead beat dads in not only taking part of the responsibility..but sharing in their kids lives, to me that is something that a man should not have to be forced to do!! ;)
Do you know what is the main excuse why men say they dont take care of their kids..."My baby momma does not let me see them"...so the fact that women are at the court trying to make dead beat dads take care of their kids is a very good thing on both sides!
And the thing is, a woman having a child out of wedlock "who is a functioning responsible adult who has a career, and is over 26 years of age" is 90% less likely not to take a man to court for child support...
the dynamic of this phenomenon you are not seeing is that, the shock value along with the heart of the matter has to do with
1. teenage mothers "in high school and freshman college"
and;
2. out of work and uneducated young women under the age of 25
who are almost certainly dating a..
1. older "supposedly" more responsible and accountable male
and;
2. Mature male, who count them as a statistic to their baby count!
You can not deny that their are a group of "baby making men" out their who deliberately make children, and take advantage of ...better yet PREY on younger, un-educated and economicaly pressed young women....some of them (men) ignorant to their part in the problem, and some who know that they can get exemptions if they have an X amount of kids, so they dont have to pay the exorbitant child support.
All I'm saying is that YOU should not bring a child into this world if you yourself dn't know how you are going to take care of it. ps Take this how you will,But I have never seen a man @ the hospital with a big belly.
and I agree with you with "no you should not bring a child into this world without being able to take care of it"..
but as you mentioned "things happen"...
but under normal circumstances, you should be made to take care of your kids Mariachal...dont sound like a lazy duty shirking Bum!!! :screw:
and please you have to just quit with the sexist remarks...it isnt funny, and to hear a seemingly educated man go on about "never seeing a man in the hospital with a big belly" is once again at the least..."not very nice to say".
seriously!!

y2k are you female?????
NASBWI 06-08-05, - 11:57 AM y2k are you female?????
Why, do you have to be a female to sympathize with a woman?

I always had a feeling that i was a cut above morally than some people..but Rory's statement proves how some people should not even act when a serious discussion comes up about complex Social issues!!

it was a simple question, if you cant handle it, then dont bother "trying" to sound intelligent.
bahmaboy 06-08-05, - 12:31 PM No unresovled issues here,& I think you misunderstood my post.My issue is with these women having kids & saying the father is responsible for them.My point y2k is that NO ONE should have any kids without being sure that they can take care of that child alone. ps I grew up in a stable home with a brother & two sisters along with mum & dad who were together for more than 40 yrs up to the time of my mums death two years ago, so I can not relate to what you speak of.
i think i see where marichal is coming from. it is no secrete in our society that when you get in a sexual relationship as a black bahamian woman if you get pregnant there is a great chance that you will be stuck holding the ball all by your lonesome, so to speak. time and time again i see these women get into relationships with men who they know already have a fleet of children that they dont take care of or cant take care of becuase they dont make any money and yet they still get big up for these fellas!!!!!! since these women have the most to lose, so to speak, why not go on the pill and enforce condoms, TELL THAT DUDE NO CONDOM NO RIDE. at the same time these men should make sure they aint puttin no more burden on our society and our women by wrapin that thing up man. ITS SO SIMPLE. also i think in our society too much emphasis is placed on the dead beat dad, i am not saying that it isnt warrented but we need to focuse on these women also.
bahmaboy 06-08-05, - 12:36 PM Very good post YK. It takes two to shake and produce a baby. Lets not make this a one sided issue, because basic biology can disprove that notion. Lets not shirk the responsibilty of the man in question, we already have too many dead beat dads out there in our Bahamian society. Lets try to educate our young women on making smart choices, and looking out for their futures. But let us not allow them to carry the burden of raising a child alone, as if we are punishing them. Unwanted pregnancies are a fact of life.
IN THIS DAY AND TIME PEOPLE DONT NEED TO BE HAVING UNWANTED PREGNANCIES. IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD THERE IS TOO MANY PREVENTATIVE MEASURES AVAILABLE TO US.

It isnt a simple question..
either you were trying to insinuate that i must be a woman...or insinuating that why should i have an idea...
but with that post quoted above..i took you out of context "due to your nasty remarks in the past"..and seeing that you didnt articulate what you had meant to say to any great extent!
Alien 06-08-05, - 12:57 PM The thing is Bahamaboy the reality of sex!!
1. The sex pool is very VERY strong..."we are supposed to have sex in case you didnt know"..it does feel good, and it is one of the strongest cravings of the human spirit second to thirst and hunger....
2. We are talking about un-educated men and women "stupidty has no rationale"...
3. And with both mixed together, we have un-educated people, doing what comes naturaly dabbling in a very VERY strong natural pool...with that, the lowering of the standards and taboo's that surround Sex...
The only thing we can do is not abortion (an inhuman and post fact utilitarian response to birth control), but contraceptives of prevention!
that means, condoms and birth control pills..and the most important form of prevention is "the education of women"!
Their is a direct co-relation between low birth rates in Developed and developing countries and the level of education of the women!!

believe me i know sex feels good. i agree with most of what you said. especially that there needs to be more education. but also i think God gave all of us common sense and i think a regular uneducated bahamian man or woman can look at our society, they know what having unprotected sex can bring and can logically deduce that before I lay down I need to enforce protection. a person doesnt need a college degree for that. also i hope you dont think i think abortion is the way to prevent births. NO WAY, I AM AGAINST IT UNLESS IT IS FOR HEALTH REASONS. what i meant was women need to take the pill and men need to wrap it up but as you say these people are uneducated but as i say i think even though most of our people are uneducated i think our people also have common sense for everything else so why do they leave their brains at the bedroom door.

Come now Bahmaboy, you should know that no contraceptive is 100% effective. Condoms break, women forget to take their bc pills, their cycles are just warped up. Even some women who have had their tubes tied have become pregnant unless you have an all out hysterectomy (a little harsh if you ask me). So in essence s*** happens, whether we want it to or not.
