what church do you go to? i ask this becuase most churches in the bahamas loves to gay bash and really are not understanding to people different from them especially in these areas

Yes I live in Nassau I do not dress as my photo everyday. But I don't hide what I am either. My hair is dyed med. Mahogany which is dark auburn. My legs are shaved and I work in short pants. Sometimes a wear makeup such as mascara eyeliner and a neutral lipstick. Some how many people think that all a transgendered male to female want to do is dress like a whore. I must admit I do like to be sexy too, Just not practical for everyday.

My wife is Bahamian she grew up in Briland and Nassau. Please don't think all is hunky dory with my wife and my being transgendered. That’s not the way to say it. Everything with my wife and I is great its the rest of the world she is worried about. She is afraid for me. One evening when heading into the movie theater we were holding hands and we heard a nasty comment, she let go of my hand and only held it again after we were in the theater. She was not ashamed just scared. When the Rosie gay cruise was here she was out there standing hand in hand with me while we stood with the Rainbow Alliance.

Even if the church is a GLBT accepting I would not attend, if the door has a lock on it, it belongs to the person who has the key, not the Creator. You see Christ never said to build building to worship him in. He never said to worship or even pray to him.
The same money spent on building these church buildings was spent on doing for the poor we would not have so many poor.

When I told my Mom she said she knew I was different from the beginning. My guess is because of what the Dr. told her at my birth. She said she always thought I was going to be homosexual, no matter what I am her child. When I told my Dad and showed him a photo of me as Vicky. He asked 1 question "are you sure that this is not just some stage you are going through?" I said I have felt this way since the 4th grade and I am 36 (my age when I told him). It's not a stage. He said I am lucky then I got 2 for the price of one.
My wife has told her mother and sisters. Her Brothers know as well. Once out of the blue one of her brothers asked her “where is Vicky?” She said at home. He asked her you answer just like that? She said why not that is my other life.

I told my wife of my feeling before the relationship got to seriouse. You see I had no clue as to what I was except to be a freak. The next day she gave me a pair or red panties with a ***** cat on them.

I was asked the question if I could choose male or female which would it be. I choose female. But if asked which would I choose male female or transgender I choose transgender.

would you say that most bahamian men are homophobic becuase deep down they are homosexual or at least have the tendancies? i ask this becuase time and time again i here gay guys and transgender people say bahamian men would come on to them and want to "try" it. I am like these bein the same ones when they with their boys be talkin bout batty boy this and sissy dat. then again i think to myself why are they so stuck on the issue in the first place.

The reason for homophobia in the Bahamas is the church. Christians have always needed to hate.

No I can't take all the credit. An indian shaman and I talked about transgender and spirituality. She touched on it and I completed it. We both use it to this day.

I know these questions are directed toward Vicky, but I'll put in my 2 cents: The homophobic attitudes shown by many men aren't limited to Bahamians. There is a smaller population in the Bahamas, and so various attitudes are much more prominent than in, say, the US. But the attitudes can stem from many things, and it tends to happen anywhere - but particularly in places where the general attitude is conservative/religious. The leading cause (I think) for the attitudes is the upbringing. Most of us were brought up to believe that homosexuality is wrong - a most abominable sin, in theory. And using that logic, how do people usually treat someone when they find out that they're sinning? Think about a criminal (I'm not likening the glbt community to criminals; this is merely an example). If a known murderer or rapist or robber is walking the street, do we go out of our way to say hello? The problem is that homosexuality is perceived to be on the same level as many of those crimes, which accounts for the hostile attitude towards them.

Another reason - getting back to your point - can be the latent attraction to men that a lot of guys may feel. Leading back to reason #1, they will stop at almost nothing to keep it a secret, for fear of being treated differently, or negatively (welcome to peer pressure 101). Being human, however, doesn't stop them from seeking to experience what they're longing for, and there's a term for guys who act that way - it's called 'the down-low'.

Personally, I feel it's sad that some men feel they have to go through such extremes just to keep everyone else pleased. It would be ideal if we could all try to be just a little more understanding (acceptance is a big if). Understanding may ultimately rid a lot of people of unjustified ignorance, and perhaps make the cruel world a liiiiittle more bearable ;) Just my 2 - well, 2 and half cents. Cheers
