View Full Version : Cable Boxes
l_bones 06-01-05, - 01:22 PM Hi All,
This question is regarding the use of illegal cable bahamas. I myself do not have one as I use DirecTV activated in US and DSL.
Is there anything being done to condemn this activity? And if the government were to be active in stopping this illegal service wouldn't that make them hypocrites against DirecTV and others? Granted, Cable Bahamas might be a local company and DirecTV foreign...but isn't Cable Bahamas just stealing their channels from satellite broadcasts and rerouting through their private network? Basically aren't Bahamians paying for illegal TV anyways?
grouper2 06-01-05, - 02:04 PM  I_bones,do you realize that your dtv is illegally here in Bahamas, even though you pay for in the us?

Yes they are.
l_bones 06-02-05, - 01:31 PM Yeah I know it's illegal technically to have DirecTV down here. But at least I don't pay for my service then clone my card and charge people even more than I pay per month. Plus, TIVO is awesome...Cable Bahamas can't even think DVR.
DEADMAN 06-18-05, - 09:36 AM Direct Tv In The Bahamas Is To Illegal In Any Form... And Cable
Bahamas Pays For Every Station That They Feed To There
Customers...they Pay For The Stations That They Rx And Then
They Are Allowed To Broadcast The Signal To The Viewers...
Nothing Is Free In This World.......
cable bahamas doesnt pay thats the point ...
canewry 06-18-05, - 02:29 PM I think The Bahamian government recently negoiated a contract on behalf of Cable Bahamas in order for them to obtain legal channels...
Lincoln 06-18-05, - 08:30 PM I find it despicable and a slap in the face to bahamians that the government pulled all those poor young men off the streets selling dvds while not saying a word about cable bahamas or super video. They were obviously paid off to do so. Now they are allegedly negotiating on behalf of the company that is robbing its people. Shame on The PLP.
By the way direct tv is not illegal here. There was a lawsuit in the early days of the radio. The radio companies were suing and prosecuting persons who were stealing their signal. The supreme court decided that The air and what ever is in it is public property and that it was the job of the radio company to make their signal so that no one could hack onto it if the wanted to keep it private. That is why the radio industry moved to advertisement to make money instead of 'pay per hear'. So as long as you are no stealing their signal and selling it for profit- like cable bahamas is- you are not breaking any law.
