Why do single mothers have more children than they can feed ?

This is not a post to stir up trouble or anger any single mother out thier BUT more to try and figure out why ? A single mother of 24-25 what in the world is she doing with 4 children and has no steady boyfriend or husband ? And the thing is she probally makes min wages !

This really bugs me and I might as well say it pisses me off.

I know thier are women out thier who hold down they own by working and taking care of thier kids without the support of the kids fathers etc, then arises my question if a woman is struggling with 2-3 kids right why have 1 more to add to the struggle ?

I know a lady who is under 30 for sure and she allready has 4 kids and I just saw her and heard ALL her complaints on how she ga feed this baby she loaded down with now and how sometimes her other kids dont go to school cause she aint got no lunch for them etc, my heart was crushed and at the same time I was upset ( feeling me ? )

Dont get me wrong if ya have the support of a husband or a dedicated boyfriend or even if you have a GOOD job and the kids can be supported properley then why the hell not have as many as ya want !

Now before you jump all over me (ahem), I'm not saying that to excuse the behaviour of us men or to imply that Bahamian women are gullible. It is a common fact that gals sometimes get into situations where it "appears" like a secure relationship, but it's only a facade until the panties drop.

Divide and conquer - this concept is hardwired in the brain of many Bahamian men. How does that song go by Swain and the Citations?

“Never never trust Bahamian man, whatever you do, to remain good and true. Daughter I beg you…Listen carefully and take warning, it’s a serious t’ing - Bahamian man ain’t bad, it's da ting we carrying.”

With that said, it does "go" both ways. If a man has a bit of cash and is well off, he doesn't even have to try to hard to get the gals. These gals make sure to get us by any and all means necessary, regardless of the presence of a girlfriend, fiancé or wife.

By the way, for some gals a wedding ring is an aphrodisiac. To them it means that a man is definitely stable. So don’t mind all these people being “religious” and all that. Plenty grindin’ going on in this little nation…Yeap, I said it.

Now the moral right probably will begin their tirades of how bad this is for society - like the average person doesn’t know this already...

the theory is, the more children you have by different men, the possiblity of obtain more money. Its a gamble that most women lose, but its like buying numbers now...in the long run you lose all the same....

do they have adoption agencies in the Bahamas? Ive never seen any, just wondering ... and what happened to social services in cases like this ... are there no laws for them to intervene .. when kids are starving cause the mother cant support them, or father, etc ..? What do they do in other countries ...? Im only asking cause im im out of this loop, no kids here ... just wondering ...

I dont think its an education thing, more the environment they live in ... both men and women, both have the choice to say no, or make sure a condom is used .. and youd think after the first kid, they would learn, if they cant support that one or have trouble doing so ... :rolleyes:

Education does play a role, but not entirely. I know a few very intelligent women who have multiple children for different men.

A woman can have an advanced doctorate degree and still be susceptible to the charms of a Bahamian man. Now she may avoid an unwanted pregnancy at first because of birth control, but when the hormones kick in and she starts thinking "I want to have his baby" there is no force on Earth that can stop that.

The difference is that in the case of the educated woman she probably can support her children without help, so the situation is considered more stable. However, the underlying principle is the same. It just takes the "right" man to bring that out in a woman, regardless of her educational level. Unfortunately the "right" man sometimes makes the wrong decision by not taking care of his own.

At 19/20 getting "pregnant" and working, lets say making $200.00 a week, and having your 1st child and making ends meet with this one child and worse senerio not getting any help from the father.

Then "pregnant" again at 22 now things even harder on that $200.00 a week salary.

Then "pregnant" again at 26


Is thier no common sense is this situation ?


I listened to a radio station ( 100 Jamz ) one morning when a lady called in and was complaining about P.T.A Meetings at Stephen Dillet and she said " I am 24 and a mother of 4 and If I can turn out to these meetings anyone can"

Good answer CG. It is pure stupidity when you have 3 and 4 kids and cant even feed yourself. Common sense aint common no more. But like I said in a previous thread, accidents happen. Does the Nassau have a Social Service Department that give qualified people emergency food assistance, medical serivce or finanical support? Also, Is there a Children Enforcement there...To get fathers to pay Child Support to the mothers?

Once the mother takes the father to court and it is proven that the child is his then he pays child support, now keep in mind if he admits the child is his then all should go smoothly....

Is not that the reasion why people give money to the church??? LadyA how much do you give to the church?? Why not give it to her?? Get some of your church friends to give to her as well.

ladyA, every day i pray for people like this and those headed into these types of situation. for whatever reason it seems as though people today only think through their hip. thankfully my mom put her thinkin cap on and said when she looked at her situation there was no way she would have another baby. THIS IS JUST COMMON SENSE. believe it or not all of us have it, it just that only some use it.

AMEN, i always wonder is it soo hard to not break out the goodies for every fly by night that wink at you or say they love you. i mean sex is good but it is not that good. it isnt sooo goood that its worth AIDS, or another burden in the form of a baby, or the heart break. these people just need to relise what the touch of their own hand can do. :D like rory say, thats what the internet is for, plus its safer. to yorrick yes bahamian men are sweet talkers, its no secrete so why is it that these women still fall for it. i dont believe in no sex before marriage but i think in this day and time these women need to make these men walk down the aisle before they let them have the goodies. yeah i know marriage dont stop him from leavin you or cheatin but at least you made him respect you enough to do that for you, also you get to weed out the ones who definatly only into the nookie and wont marry you at all.
