Hello!
We are planning to build a home in the Bahamas and have heard many horror stories about building while in the Bahamas while living in the US. Any advice? Any builder/architect/general contractor references? Any people we should avoid? We are looking to build in the Nassau/Paradise Island area.

One thing you will find when you move to the Bahamas is, you have to know a lot about everything in order to survive our "experts," be those "experts" in the Medical field, auto repair, or in the building trade (just to name a few!)

Learn all you can about construction! It will go a long way in saving you a lot of $$$ and heartache. (Like the time a "builder" suggested removing a wall in my home to make two small rooms into one big room. Good thing I knew how to tell that the wall was a supporting wall. Had he removed in the roof might have fell in!!!) :bouncy:
