View Full Version : Is The PLP Government Doing A GOOD Job
100%Bahamian 03-04-04, - 09:46 PM In response to the Points last statement....
Please reiterate your thoughts about politicians toying with you or being deceptive. I don't know if your calling me a politician or if you are comparing me to one. I don't mean to deceiving anyone, so let me know if there is something that needs to be elaborated further. It is very important to me that everyone understands my position on any issues clearly. I say what I mean and I do what I say. So there is no room for assumptions or predictions about what my next moves or decisions will be. I insist we all must be on the same page with the comprehension of citizens and governments. We can fix every problem within this country when both sides understand each other clearly, and officials reacting to thier duties as promised. I can only hope that Bahamianization works as planned. We can be an anomoly in this region.
100%Bahamian 03-04-04, - 10:02 PM As we are a democracy, I have every right to comment on every issue of which we have alot here, at least in Nassau. Nothing will ever change for the best unless someone complains, and Ill be one of those someones. If someone thinks every thing is fine and dandy here in Nassau, then they are in denial, and thats not just a river in egypt!
Though I can hardly agree with most of your posting I have to agree with this one. You deffinately have a right to your opinions. Even though I might not like them I want you to know that I do indeed respect your opinions being that this is a democratic country. And for the record, things don't get done because people complain. Things get done when those in charge reacts. We should judge our politicians on how well they react whenever people complain. Especially when there is no elections near. If they finally react when the elections are around the corner it shouldn't count for much.

yep...
and about the rest of my postings, I only tell the truth, something alot of bahamians dont want to hear unfortunately. People have to complain for the people in charge to know that the people want change and dont accept things the way they are. And yep, I do expect better, like any normal person.
I want butter with my pancakes, otherwise i would not have ordered them in the first place
TRUTH 04-05-04, - 04:20 PM :realmad: Being a young bahamian i am appauled to see the ignorant democracy that has become our country, why is there so much negative emphasis being placed on the PLP government after they have only been in power a little more than 1 year when the,Bahamian people must realize that every GOOD political party must set aside a amount of time to plan out what they will do in the time that they are in office, what do you really expect a party to do in one year, seeing as how all of the problems that the FNM government left could not be eradicated in only one year, the immigration problem(the influx of illegal persons into our country)and it seems that people when they think of this problem can only think of hatians, there are jamaicans, cubans, chinese, grenadians, if you can name it they are already here working taking up some bahamian persons job,if u look at when most of these illegal immigrants arrived in the bahamas ,really!! if you just sat down and looked at statistics then you would realize that most illegal immigrants flocked to the bahamas between 1992 and 2002,now can someone please tell me which political party was in charge of this country at that time, none other than the FNM party really, but wait this immigrations problem is only scratching the surface of the problems that were left by the FNM,a broke down trotten treasury(in the time of FNM how many scandals have surrounded the treasury?) more than i can surely count, such a high unemployment rate,
i can run on and on and on and on about the problems that the FNM government left for the PLP to clean up,i have faith in the PLP government and the problems that are still here will be dealt with,it is only my wish that the bahamian people will take heed to my word and understand that u cannot squeeze 10 years of problems into 1 year it is IMPOSSIBLE
Take this from a 15 year bahamian citizen who believes that us as bahamian citizens should think with our God given brains and not someone elses.xpertmercenary@nuffrespect.net
:realmad: It is so sad to see a young man such as you arm yourself with such facts but still remain one sided. As I see it or should I say as it is known that the treasury was broke before the FNM came into control of our government.... so then it would be fair to say that it is hard to fix in ten years what was messed up for twenty five years!!! Also about other people coming here and taking our jobs; well it seems to me that if our Bahamain people would stop being lazy, stop smoking dope, dealing drugs and all the other things we waste so much time doing and just focus on education and uplifting ourselves there would be no need to hire outside help.
We as a people need to stop blaming our government for our faults and failures. We need to stop looking for hand outs and be strong as a people, not as PLP or FNM but as bahamains. TRUTH
Uncle Bob 04-10-04, - 09:56 AM I'm tired of hearing about the Broke Treasury that the FNM left behind. It annoys me to see the ignorance of some people. First the FNM spent money upgrading the infrastructure not only in Nassau but in the Family Island, (Note investors are now willing to invest in the Family Islands) . They spent money to improve the lives of Bahamians in general. But the PLP on the other hand has Paid Lady Pindling, $500,000 dollars out of sheer arrogance. Then $1,400,000.00 ,yes One point Four Million Dollars from the BROKE TREASURY, a year, for the next Six Years to Club Med in San Sal. Neville found the Door to the side of the Treasury thats wasn't broke because he was able to throw money away and get commended for it . The FNM and the PLP government are like Eagles and Chickens in the Barn. The EGGs looked the same , the young chicks may looked the same but when they fully blown , one soars above while the other scratches the ground for worms. Name one PLP initiative that they talked about before coming to power, that has taken off. The bold Within 90 Days of Office statement has been forgotten along with the MISSING HOPE AND HELP Plane , that failed to land in the Bahamas. Most of the Policys that the PLP criticised as Opposition ,are being championed by PLP Ministers .I guess it's like my Grandmother said " What you say depends on where you sit!"
"The Grass is growing and the Horses are dieing" Wake up before it's to late Bahamians!!!!!!!!
Great Demos 04-14-04, - 05:38 PM Today, Mr Miller said on his talk show that if you depend on the government to help you in any way, you are wasting your time! (These are not his exact words, but I believe they also convey what he meant. And I believe he also said ANY Bahamian government).
Well, call me what you will, but I believe he is 100% on target! It has taken me over 50 years to learn that the governments we elect are really NOT very concerned about making this country and its people too prosperous! I know I will be tarred and feathered for this statement, but I don't care. THIS IS JUST THE TRUTH AS I SEE IT!
Like 100% Bahamian, I also am very patriotic. But over the years, I have gotten the feeling that our reps must think we are all complete fools. Sometimes I feel that the old UBP deserves higher marks than the FNM and PLP. At least, if the UBP were in power now, I FEEL CERTAIN WE WOULD NOT BE HAVING ALL THESE SERIOUS CRIMES!!!
About some of the persons from other countries like Jamaica, Trinidad, etc, hating us Bahamians, this has always puzzled me. The only thing I can put this to is perhaps jealousy. They are jealous because God has given us this prosperous country, which has no large manufacturing industries, etc, but yet hard working people can go out there and make a good living, and even become wealthy in some cases. Apparently, the good Lord has not blessed their countries as much as He has blessed us.

How dare you say our Bahamian people are lazy, smoke dope and deal drugs!
We do not produce any of the drugs found here! How many times have you heard other nationals in the Bahamas being invlolved with drugs? My 24 year old sister who lives by herself isn't lazy, doesn't sell or do drugs and was having a very hard time finding a job for 2 months. My 21 year old brother also have none of those filthy habbits and was finally able to find work after 6 months. And the same to most of my family and most Bahamians who are unnemployed. How can you call yourself "TRUTH" and post a reply like that? The "TRUTH" is there are a few Bahamians that are lazy, there are some that are selling or doing drugs but that is nowhere close to at least 10% of the population. You said that dismissing the fact that there is a mojority of hard working Bahamians doing the right thing. It is only wise and fair to determine the percentage of folks to which this catagory fits. There is probrably more illegal immigrants doing illegal things here in the Bahamas than there are Bahamians doing them. But if you had common sense you would realize that some people are selling drugs because they can't find work. Some people seems lazy because they can't get the jobs they feel are satisfactory to them or doesn't apply to their skills. And others are on drugs because they obviously had some kind of life changing event that brought them down to that level. You are very insensitive to the problems of the Bahamian people and I only thank God that you are not our Prime Minister. Everytime is see your name in a thread I will recognize you as "LIAR" other than "TRUTH". To me you are no longer a Bahamian if you were one in the first place. A statement like that qualifies you as unpatriotic. I hope you were to loose your job if you have one. And I hope you realize how many jobs are taken by people who aren't even legal to work. I too have had problems finding a job at about this time just last year. In the past 3 years I have had a total of 7 jobs. Horrible jobs I might add and the one good job I had was lost in 2001 whear Bahamians were being replaced with cheap foreign labor. God knows if they were legal to work here in the first place.
You are a horrible insensative person "TRUTH".
100%Bahamian 04-21-04, - 08:58 AM
I'm tired of hearing about the Broke Treasury that the FNM left behind.
You are obviously an FNM supporter. The FNM wants us to be tired of hearing about it and forget it. Can't you see?
It annoys me to see the ignorance of some people. First the FNM spent money upgrading the infrastructure not only in Nassau but in the Family Island, (Note investors are now willing to invest in the Family Islands) .
I'm curious, how exactly did the FNM upgraded the infrastructure in the family islands? The PLP just put the actions in place for people to recieve fresh tap water. The FNM promised that for 10 years.
They spent money to improve the lives of Bahamians in general. But the PLP on the other hand has Paid Lady Pindling, $500,000 dollars out of sheer arrogance.
Don't you think the Widow of our late great Prime Minister Pindling deserves some sort of government assistance. They do it in America for thier former leaders. Why shouldn't we? Even Multi-Million Dollar Co.'s in the U.S. pay their CEO Millions as a severance package and you are complaining about half a million dollars. And how can you complain about paying Lady Pindling half a million if you seem to not care about the FNM stealing millions from the treasury? That seems kind of odd.
Then $1,400,000.00 ,yes One point Four Million Dollars from the BROKE TREASURY, a year, for the next Six Years to Club Med in San Sal. Eagles and Chickens eaggs and chicks will seem alike to one who isn't looking close enough and paying attention to details. They don't look alike to me!

And you are a PLP Supporter . Now that thats out of the way!!!!!!!!!
It's get down to facts , if your memory is not limited to PLP Rule then you will remember a poor man in Long Island, hanging Christmas Lights around his Sheep's neck when he got Eletricity for the First Time . You may remember that the Honorable Member for South Andros asking for a Dock for his area so that the Mailboat ,could dock ,instead of goods being Ferried to shore .( Note that member was Prime Minister for 25 year prior!!!) . You may also remember Road Works going on around the Year in Nassau and the Family Islands. Telephones were also upgraded ; (NOTE ;This was all done under the FNM).Let's see what the PLP will do for the Family Islands!!! Lady Pindling was to receive Pension from 1997 , that's when the Law was past to take effect from. NOT FROM 1992 WHEN THE PLP LOST THE ELECTION!!!!! That is the POINT!!! I take great pride in the fact that you noticed the difference in the Eagle and Chicken eggs and chicks and not the 1.7 Million that the broke Treasury is paying to Club Med every year for the next SIX YEARS !!!!!!!!!!
Like my Grandmother would say,"The Grass is Growing and the Horses are Dying" :hot: :hot:

Actually, just have to look at how this PLP won, drug dealers paying off people in the ghetto to Vote PLP, so the PLP would prevent them from ever being extradited. Dont forget the PLP youth gangs that smashed up cars and beat up anyone that they thought looked FNM, and any area that was FNM had signs, car windows, etc destroyed.
Yeah, some win for them!
Now the government utlity companies are being allowed to screw the bahamian people, and noone is doing anything about it. Just look at the latest from the corupt Batelco corporation, $300,000 fine for using a voice over IP device. Against constitutional rights, against freedom, and simply corupt, its cause they need to put more money in their back pockets. If the government had any common sense, they would see that this is going to hurt the country, as all the foriegn investors use voice over IP also, and for teleconferencing. And us Bahamians will then be spending more money, and getting nothing in return for it, as the gov doesnt spend the money in the right areas where it is needed. They are a monopoly, and are using rackateering methods.
We may as well go back to telex and DOS as the present government is not allowing bahamians to use the technology that is available today. We are screwed, plain and simple, there is no alternative and nothing we can do, besides pay out of our backside long distance calls.
bb359 04-24-04, - 02:01 PM Sometimes I come on this site and wonder if the majority of the persons who post these replies live in the same country as I do or are not just computer automated to provoke conversations. Example “Group of PLP young men going around beating up persons who looked FNM”, come on man are you for real. You must face the fact that the elections are over and the PLP won. I have not heard of any Bahamians who went to the Police or any other official in this country and claimed that they did not or could not vote for the candidate of their choice. If you know of some please let us know. Get in the real world man the PLP was the Bahamian choice next election it may be another party, but for now it should be Bahamians and the Bahamas first not FNM or PLP, because the failure of the PLP would not be a PLP failure but a Bahamas failure.
It just flabbergast me that some Bahamians for there own selfish purpose would want a Government to fail just so they can say “ah ha” I told them this would happen. Some would even facilitate that failure for there own selfish desire. First and for most I am a Bahamian and if it is the FNM, CDR or PLP in power I want them to succeed because it is all about the Bahamas. I know that persons may disagree on policies but I get the since from most of the persons that post on this site and come on radio talk shows that it is more than polices it is personal hate for the PLP that they would rather the Bahamas become like Jamaica or Haiti just to fulfill their desire.
Note: It makes no difference whether an American is Republican or Democrat if a disaster comes upon this Bahamas and it threatens American lives they would pull them all out and they would refer to them as Americans. So Bahamians wise up to this fact we are all Bahamians and it makes no matter your party affiliation we must all work to build our Country, because there are none among us not even the leaders of political parties that have PLP or FNM written on their passports or as there country of origin.
May GOD continue to bless this Bahama land no matter the party that leads the Government. I know that God holds our future and our success as a nation is not in Governments who are only his vessels, but it is in him.
God’s grading for success is not like men who contribute success base upon the amount of material possession, he grades by looking at the things that are not seen.
God provides and protects us not by which Government is in power but rather by the hearts of the people who dwell in the land that seek him out daily.
Let us stop putting negativity on all that our Government does, because they are only the stewards he has put in place for a season and when that season ends someone else would take over.
There is no reason why a nation our size can not be people known for our love for each other rather than hate. Let us not be envious of others for what they may have. Let us not sound like people who are ungrateful for all that we have been blessed with.
God has continued to provide for us through successive Governments, its not that we are more deserving, smarter or because we are closer to the United States, but it is because we have all ways been a humble, grateful and God fearing people who were satisfied with little so by his mercies was given much.
God bless the Bahamas.
you need to get into the real world, cause God isnt blessing this country!
yes im for real, and so were those gangs of PLP youth after the election win. So were the drug dealers paying off people to vote PLP. And so is the useless government we have now. There is so much to be done, and until anything even begins to start, then what are they being paid for.
God hasnt put any man in government. You need to stop reading all that born again crap.
And by the way, if you live in the bahamas, you would realise that the PLP government, or who ever is in charge, HAS failed. They still have time to fix it but as of now, nothing is yet being done to help the Bahamas or the Bahamian people.
Id like to see the Bahamas get somewhere, and there are a lot of Bahamians that can make it do so, if the management of the country will just let it happen and open their minds up, be it plp, fnm, or whoever.

The point here is politicians look out for them selves first not the people. They tell the people we looking out for you, But they make sure they get theirs first at the expense of the people. Some how the Bahamian people think politicians are some kind of high and mighty human being. Ask the woman who only had some grits to feed her children if she cares if Mrs. Pindling gets this huge pension. Point in fact politicians are not in it for the sake of the Bahamas they are in it for the money and they look after their own and the poor people pay the to do it.
Alien 05-25-04, - 09:38 AM the plp to me has allowed the country to stay the same...
and that to me is good...at least they havent totaly pissed it all away!

This is a true statement. While the average Bahamian's are foolishly arguing about PLP or FNM they are busy opening business and building subdivisions together.Maybe we should try and to the same thing instead of rowing about politicians who are only trying to get rich. ps Who gives up a 30-100 G's per annum job for a 16-60.000 job? ;)
