This is a true statement. While the average Bahamian's are foolishly arguing about PLP or FNM they are busy opening business and building subdivisions together.Maybe we should try and to the same thing instead of rowing about politicians who are only trying to get rich. ps Who gives up a 30-100 G's per annum job for a 16-60.000 job? ;)

You are right. We should pull together. All to often political parties pull us apart, or play one against the other. To many of us are "busy" being FNM or PLP. We need to be busy being Bahamians.

Id like to see the Bahamas get somewhere, and there are a lot of Bahamians that can make it do so, if the management of the country will just let it happen and open their minds up, be it plp, fnm, or whoever.

AMEN, BROTHER! Despite the Creationist thinking, nature still prefers natural selection. Allow business to do business as long as it is legal and fair. Otherwise, the gov't should get out of our lives.

The present government appears to have lost their focus as the promised manifesto or blue print for governing the country is non existent. Accountability and integrity do not exist and the so called “doing the business of the Bahamian people”seems to be taking care of the employers and potential investors with money either borrowed from Foreign sources (i.e., IMF) or appropriated from the Central Bank to support investment. Our proposed budget for 2004 - 2005 is over 1 billion dollars and our hospitals are in dire need of a massive overhaul or rebuilding and so are our schools. Let’s do not talk about our educational system( average grade a ‘D’ ) or our court system which allows criminals to go free due to a lack of judges or courts. Our Labour Department is no help to the Bahamian employee or worker as cases are backlogged and take years to litigate. Even after a judgement is made against the Employer, the Tribunal court cannot enforce its decision. The Bahamas is in desperate need of help and hope but that will only come in 2007 as Bahamians will not vote for a particular party but instead vote for those who will do what is required to secure a firm future for the Bahamas.

What's with the homosexual referencing? The FNM I am sure has them(homo's) too, and no matter who they are sleeping with man or woman, a bad job is a bad job, and a good job, is a good job. Is that what you are basing your vote on, who they are sleeping with?

This is exactly why the man needs to go home. Hes just riding the wave now that hes the MAN! Okay he's had his run now guys lets thank him and send him on his way. Things are just to volatile to keep a man like Christie in office talking sh*** half the time about nothing. The entire world sames to be a state of urgency. We are being called to the front to join many organizations with world affect on our economy and way of life.
It appears no one in government really wants to acknowledge the serious nature of where and what is impacting our country they are all locked into yet still playing political games with each other, just hoping that something happens that saves their as** and they don't have to account for anything.
There are so many people playing games, The Church who is steep in playing games with their memebers lives only wanting the peoples money.
The Politicians who just want a vote and would say and do anything to get it them when they do they steal, plot, Rape, Steal the toilet bowls out of their sweetheart house when they can't get their way,They become arrogant and jump on any ones plane and bypass security which we must endure when travelling but ,'NO! not them; there're GODs now you know" They lie about their qualifications to hold political office and always seem to get their way and owe everybody, and don't want to pay; yet we are dragged feet first to the courts and they don't hesitated to take everything from us if we default on a $3,000 loan.

They are pegged bankrupt but NO! they still want to hold office. What Arrogance! They pull deals with anyone, even the poor Asians they swing and rob, knowing they were doing something they ought not too. they are all constanly accused of being punks and or fags and or sissies and then the young man stands in front of parliament and demostrates that he was molested by one of the governments senators but yet NO ONE says any thing including their holy mother whos always preaching everywhere except at her colleagues who are smothered in hell sh***. What the hell...... or sorry is going on in this little country. I can see why the Prime Minister can say what he said about his code of ethics. They have none and they are all sitting in mess some just likes to play church in the mess. Morality has long escape them all.
The other day Agatha Marcelle made her statement it was because even her whos a part of the mess bunch know that the only way she was ever going to get some action was to go public. she knows how the game is played in the inside. Good thing you did Ms. Marcelle more of these Sunday only christians need to adopt your tactic.

PM Failed To Bring Relief To Economic Saga
It seems clear that Prime Minister Perry Christie is out of touch with the people of Grand Bahama and has no clue as to what the needs of Grand Bahamians are, nor what to do to address the myriad of issues that they are confronted with, charged Party Leader, Senator the Honourable O. A. T. (Tommy) Turnquest, while addressing a press conference at the FNM Grand Bahama Headquarters on Wednesday 2nd February 2005.

Senator Turnquest said that it was disappointing to hear Prime Minister Christie's speech in Grand Bahama on the occasion of the installation of officers of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce recently. He charged that Mr. Christie built up the expectations of Grand Bahamians to believe that he was coming with news that would bring certainty and relief to their sad economic saga.

Grand Bahamians were so excited that they broadcast the Prime Minister's speech live on ZNS radio and television.

The Leader said that the displaced workers of the Royal Oasis Resort, the thousands of other unemployed residents, and the victims of the two hurricanes that hit this island the hardest, thought that they would hear the Prime Minister provide a definitive plan for improving their situations. Instead, the Prime Minister squandered the excellent opportunity of speaking to what appears to be a very progressive group of newly elected officers of the leading business association on that island. He squandered it for the following reasons:

He announced no new projects and although what he announced had been announced before, some even before he came to office, those projects remain in limbo. The Ginn project for Grand Bahama, the LNG proposals, the Marriott proposal, and the Gold Rock Creek Theatre project are examples of projects that have been in the pipeline for a long period of time still awaiting actualization.

The Prime Minister announced nothing to lead residents of Grand Bahama to believe that their economic situation will improve over the next twelve months. Even if the projects that the Prime Minister continue to talk about comes to pass, they will take at least twelve to eighteen months to be realized. In the meantime, the 1,300 workers of Royal Oasis and thousands more unemployed workers in Grand Bahama cannot expect these projects to change their situation for the better over the next twelve months. They remain uncertain and anxious about their immediate future. It would have been better for them if the PM could have put some dates to these projects instead of the verbal gymnastic that he did to say essentially that these proposals remain just proposals.

The Royal Oasis employees have already been let down by the government in that it took entirely too long to intervene in this sad saga. After being shamed to act, the actions of the government remain woefully inadequate. Why waste tax-payers money to go to the principals of the Royal Oasis in New York? The principals have property in The Bahamas; why not compel them to come here where they could face the entire government and people of the Royal Oasis Resort? Why does the government act as if it is powerless in the situation? Operators of resorts in this country must be approved by the government and they cannot dispose of their assets without the permission of the government. The Royal Oasis resort owes the government money, meaning that the company is indebted to the government and the government has the legal right to do what it needs to recoup its money. Prime Minister Christie and his colleagues are acting like they are not the government of The Bahamas.

Because the Prime Minister could not offer any clear and definitive plans for the fate of the Royal Oasis Resort, the businesses and employees of the International Bazaar remain uncertain about their future. It is clear to all that the International Bazaar is hurting and hurting badly. It needs serious economic and development attention. The Prime Minister did not address this situation, even though the employers and workers there mounted an impressive demonstration regarding this plight.

Months after the passage of two hurricanes, far too many homes, schools, and communities that should have been helped by the government remain unassisted. Even mere cleaning up in communities outside of Freeport has not been done in some cases. It is outrageous that our schools have been handled so disgracefully. No matter how much disappointment the Minister of Education expresses and blames his colleague Minister of Public Works for the delay, he has not done his job and he has badly let down the children and parents of this nation. Heads should roll for such incompetence and inefficiency. It is inexcusable what has happened. The schools of this island should have been the main priority of the minister and he should have seen to it personally that they were restored to properly house our children.

"This is troubling indeed. It was interesting to note that the Prime Minister suggestions on a number of occasions that residents of Grand Bahama should be prepared to move to other islands to work, notwithstanding that he announced the "unprecedented" developments he claimed for the island. The Prime Minister should come back to Grand Bahama and try his address again," concluded the Leader's statement.

Meanwhile, during one of the Leader's Press Conferences in Freeport, Grand Bahama on Friday, October 22, 2004 he expressed concern over the more than thirteen hundred (1,300) employees of the Royal Oasis Hotel and Resort who were laid-off since the hurricanes. At that time he said they and their families asked how it was that the Government had allowed the Company to lay-off employees without providing any money for them and without giving any details about future plans as to when they may return to work. These laid-off workers, Mr. Turnquest said, feel victimised at this most difficult time and they are crying out for urgent and immediate help.

That was almost four months ago, we are sad to report that the situation has only gotten worse and this PLP Government is not offering any help or hope for these people.

I agree with you one hundred percent, I think what you have here is a bunch of persons who have not gotten over the fact that the FNM lost the election. As a Bahamian I would be lying if I said I was better of under the FNM. I don't know where that guy got his statistics from; he must be spending too much time believing Mr. Turnquest. How come he did not quote the statistics on CRIME or is that not important, haven you notice it’s down. It’s amazing that any one who attempts to look at things objectively and truthfully is branded as belonging to one of the major parties.

What dilly tree you just fell on ya head from outta? :cutie:

:cutie: The PLP government never did know where it was headed, had no vision and became more confounded and confused as it consulted right into a maze of lies, deceit and one scandal after another! The National Chairman. Prime Minister and Foreign minister succinctly epitomized the drought of good common sense and moral intentions in that government! They are the ones who most ably proved that the good ship PLP een gat enough sense on board to fill aunty Vicky’s left shoe!

Ask some er them PLP where all them “commissions” and consultants they hire and how are we better for them! Even if there were reports of much use, this damn bunch er ninnies are to politically stupid to do much good with them any how! This the first government in the world that has build and invisible economy that the citizens can’t see nor enjoy! Eleven billion dollars and we over the hill een feel one damn red cent….now election time they bringing they azzes over the hill!

I feel so “raped” as a Bahamian…every foreigner with some money to pass under a table, Haitian looking for a quick way around the system, every so-called developer who wanted to “tief” Bahamian land and then sell to their folks back home for millions and every numb skull who want a political promotion had a go at Perry and the Fragal Rock Pimps”! They all over the place now trying to use smart locals to sure-up the load of messes they have made of our country!

This bunch of jackazzes must be done away with...I ee care who go back there...once we don't have to deal with these twits after 2007!
