Being a young bahamian i am appauled to see the ignorant democracy that has become our country, why is there so much negative emphasis being placed on the PLP government after they have only been in power a little more than 1 year when the,Bahamian people must realize that every GOOD political party must set aside a amount of time to plan out what they will do in the time that they are in office, what do you really expect a party to do in one year, seeing as how all of the problems that the FNM government left could not be eradicated in only one year, the immigration problem(the influx of illegal persons into our country)and it seems that people when they think of this problem can only think of hatians, there are jamaicans, cubans, chinese, grenadians, if you can name it they are already here working taking up some bahamian persons job,if u look at when most of these illegal immigrants arrived in the bahamas ,really!! if you just sat down and looked at statistics then you would realize that most illegal immigrants flocked to the bahamas between 1992 and 2002,now can someone please tell me which political party was in charge of this country at that time, none other than the FNM party really, but wait this immigrations problem is only scratching the surface of the problems that were left by the FNM,a broke down trotten treasury(in the time of FNM how many scandals have surrounded the treasury?) more than i can surely count, such a high unemployment rate,
i can run on and on and on and on about the problems that the FNM government left for the PLP to clean up,i have faith in the PLP government and the problems that are still here will be dealt with,it is only my wish that the bahamian people will take heed to my word and understand that u cannot squeeze 10 years of problems into 1 year it is IMPOSSIBLE
Take this from a 15 year bahamian citizen who believes that us as bahamian citizens should think with our God given brains and not someone elses.xpertmercenary@nuffrespect.net

While I believe "they r trying" my answer would have to be NO!! For the most part the PLP is hiding behind various faces on really significant issues----CSME, Homosexuality, Capital Punishment, Significant Drug dealers...and on I can go...

And they've given this style of govt. the fancy concept "consultation". Consultation is fine; but it shouldn't be used to camouflage lack of leadership!!!

:hot: i agree with point the PLP needs to go all of them They don't have any leadership skills

X-PertMercenary , Let me see if I understand you correcty . The Treasury is broke but yet we can pay Mrs Pindling a $500,000.00 lump sum plus the $125,000.00 a year .We can also GIVE Club Med in San Sal $700,000.00 every six months or $1,400,000 .00 a year for the next six years. The Ministers were able to change their Cars and Neville was able to give away a cool $1,000,000.00 . All from this broke Treasury. On the issue of Illegal Hatian Problem let's remember which party give them citizenship to vote for them in the 1992 election and if you don't remember the majority was in Cooper's Town, Abaco. When a party campaigns it sets out a platform and goes from there . The PLP party had a solution for everything that was wrong prior to winning the government . Now that they have the hammer they placed it in the toolbox. What did you expect from a man who said he only wants to be Prime Minister for one term ,then he will retire. Hard work. "All horses look fast, when they running by themselves The former Prime Minister said it best, " The poacher has now become the Warden."[U]

The PLP could have done a good job, but Pery Christie promised too much and cannot deliver on 10% of what he promised. The other problm thy have is one of having too many greedy selfish Party Officials, MPs and Ministers who are only concerened about themselves and their families.

Like Alysion Maynard, Leslie Miller to name a few. As a person who voted FNM in 1992, 1997 and PLP in 2002 I am ashamed of myself and more ashmaed of Perry Christe and the evil mess he has created in just one year.

Cannot wait to vote them out in 2007.

I dont think the PLP is doing a good job like i said in a article that the only person i think is working is Fred Mitchell and the PM is lazy as ever. the honey moon is over with the PLP so they need to get up and start working. Stop hiding behind what you said that the FNM has done wrong and try to fix it if they have done any wrong. To finish answer this question let me ask a question and if anyone can answer it PLEASE reply. In the 1yr and 4 months that the PLP has been in power what have they done and how many bills have they pass that was their own and not the FNM stuff they had already on the board?

The right question is not whether the PLP goverment is doing a good job but rather can you name anything new that the plp has done since they came to power. the plp came to power on lies, half truths, deceptions and downright scurrilous accusations that has not been substantiated. The only good that the plp has done is talk and more talk. Since the PLP came to power they wasted no time in showing the bahamian people that their is nothing new about the PLP. Before the Prime minister had barely name the goverment boards they had already victimise FNMS at Baic,Minister wisdom lost close to 2millions dollars on bleachers, contracts were being revoke from family islanders who was not supportive of the PLP during the last elections,Minister leslie miller is in an obvious case of conflict of interest. I have no doubt that the Prime minister is a all around nice person but his Ministers are out of control. come quickly 2007!

nice people have no place in the running of a country unfortunately. they need to be tough and also, some form of higher intelligence helps~!

I am amazed that all the complaints that are being leved against the PLP, were the faults that people had with the FNM. Big Bad Brad said it; so it was so. Has anybody taken notice of the fact that since the PLP Government has taken office Kerzner International has sought to diversifiy their companies holdings . They are now telling us that they are about to create the Atlantis concept( ie ;they well re-create all the Lagoons with the Fishes and the famous Dig.)at all the selected locations around the world . I may not be to smart but I see this as a way of slowly but surely shifting focus from the Bahamas . If there is an Altantis in Vegas with all the sights then way would you need to come to Bahamas. If there one in England would come to the Bahamas and spend more to see the same thing. The 2002 Elections was a statement to the world that the Bahamian public is still not politically mature to make good sound decisions . If they were then how is it that the PLP won by such a landslide victory and in just 1 Year and couple Months of them taking Office WE now realize that they told us lies and that MR Christie is not the RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB!!! In case you didn't realize it, I DIDN'T vote PLP. Bahamians the Grass is growing and the Horses are dying !!! WAKE UP!!!

Is the PLP doing a great job? What a question!

To be honest, to say that the PLP is doing a great job would be the over statement of all Humanity. I am not one to point fingers and criticize but there has been NO improvements by the PLP Government. All the lies that were spoken, all the promises for what? Why say you can do something , make a difference if you can not. I think that their whole political scheme was just to influence the people to vote their way. WAKE up Bahamas we need not to be move by mere words, but by actions. Fair enough, people do need to be given chances , but when they are and there is still no changes, We need to change them (and I mean changing the People). :bahamas:
