(CMC) CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, CMC - The Bahamas won five gold medals on the final day of competition to lift the Caribbean Amateur Boxing Association's team championship on Wednesday.
Taureno Johnson, who was later named the Boxer-of-the-Championships, led the way with a victory over Edward Joseph of the United States Virgin Islands when the referee stopped the contest in the first round of their welterweight bout.
The other gold medals for the Bahamians came from lightweight Levar Stewart over Trinidad & Tobago's Richard Boodram, light welterweight Valentino Knowles over Guadeloupe's Frederic Pierre, and super heavyweight James McKenzie over USVI's Tremaine Maynard.

The Bahamas 27, United States Virgin Islands 26, Trinidad & Tobago 23, Jamaica 17, Barbados 15, Grenada 13, Guadeloupe nine, Aruba five, St. Lucia five, Cayenne four, Dominica two, Bermuda one.
