View Full Version : Ever wondered what the Garden of Eve Stood for?
RockWell 06-28-05, - 09:45 AM watch it and open your mind to a spirituality other than Christanity.
It was not boring at all for me. I was wondering how the christian council even approved it to be shown here.
When since the CC started approving movies that are shown in the Bahamas? :board2:
RockWell 06-28-05, - 09:47 AM thanx i just hope that other people look more closely into things like this!

I LOVE ANIMATION FILMS AND USUALLY GET A GOOD CHUCKLE FROM THEM. believe me when i watched it chritianity was the farthest thing from my mind. i went there to be entertained, not bored to death. i did like when the moose was like "i cant believe you totaled that mammoth, eh" but on a serious note so what did you think the underlying theme was. cuase truthfully i saw none.
bahmaboy 06-28-05, - 03:31 PM Interesting question.
Human like creatures have been around for millions of years, Homo habilis - 2.2 to 1.6 million years BC. Homo erectus - 2 to 0.4 million years BC, but when we think of caveman we usually think of Homo sapiens neandertalensis - 200,000 to 30,000 years BC - Better known as Neanderthal man. Yet, the species we come from Homo sapiens sapiens has only been around for about 130,000 years.
At one time in the earths history there were many species of humans wandering around but now only we survive. So, to answer your question all primates, past and present came from a common ancestor. Yet to be found! But what has been found is the tree dwelling, Pierolapithecus catalaunicus. that lived 13 million years ago in Spain and may be the last common ancestor of modern great apes and humans.
So, if there was an Adam-like being he did not look like us! (That much!) :)
extremly intresting CG. even though i believe in the creation story it is so refreshing for me to read other theories or explanations. i am coming to the point where i have realised that i cant just pick up what people place in front of me and whole it to be true. so do you think adam was actually a ugly, hariy, filthy looking creature.
bahmaboy 06-28-05, - 03:37 PM Actually, I did not say what Adam looked like because I don't know. What I do know for sure is that our species, Homo sapiens sapiens has only been around for 130,000 years. Races, as we know it, caucasoid, negroid, mongoloid, amer-indian, australoid, etc. began then and they were an adaptation to climate changes as Home sapian migrated around the world.
So, if there was a Adam he would not have been caucasoid, negroid or anything else. But there is little doubt that he would have had a dark skin as man began in Africa and a darker skin protects against the sun.
yeah i know you didnt say what he looked like. i was refering to how man, not you, for some reason paints this picture of a handsome, white, curly hair, blue eye man. i was also showing how this could lead people to believe that darker skin is inferior, maybe inferior is too harsh of a word but at least they feel the lighter the better. this is especially true amoung black people. have you ever heard a black person say they dont want to be out in the sun cuase they dont want to get too dark. or boy that person need to bleach etc. to me this signals some kind of complex

i still trying to figure out what spirutality vicky saw in that movie. i even forgot it exsisted until she brought it up. THE INCREDIBLES OR NUTTIN. now the movie SAVED had some serious undertones, and i think every christian needs to open their minds and watch it. if not the entire movie at least the last 15 minutes
bahmaboy 06-28-05, - 03:44 PM Please explain the concept of be fruitful & multiply then.
now thats a hot issue, especially in the baptist religion. being fruitful and multiply does not mean have 7 children you cant afford. weather you multiply 1*1=1 or 1*7=7 you multipled. so a couple with 1 child is not being selfish or disobediant to god. further more i be thinking what about a naturally steril person. sometimes i truely undertand where atheist and nay sayers be coming from.

Alien 06-30-05, - 12:50 PM Please explain the concept of be fruitful & multiply then.
that had something to do with a story in genesis, had nothing to do with what went on in the story of the Apple and the serpent.
but, it is to be noted as well, that there was no documentation of them actualy being fruitful and multiplying in that sense until they were cast out of the garden.
which to me signifies that being fruitful and multiplying is not meant in the sense we think it to be!
or may have been one of those things they interjected into that story without any merrit....
it is also duely noted that the new and revised bibles make no mention of God comanding them to be fruitful and multiplying.....it is something that is suspiciously not mentioned.
for whatever reason, that statment does not and has not correlated with with anything to do with them having sexual relations, and for all we know God may have had another intention when he may have said be fruitful and multiply...
but what is concrete, is that they were cast out....
they had children after they were cast out...
Ting-um 07-04-05, - 03:52 PM The Garden of Eden was/is a metaphor for human consciousness. This is why there are so many religion with simply themes in their creation stories because human consciousness is universal so there's no surprise that many of our stories are similar.
At an early age, before the age of two, humans can't dissociate themselves from their surroundings. As long they are in this state, everything is beautiful like a garden. They don't feel pain. Well, they do feel pain but they don't know that it is them feeling the pain, because they can't distinguish themselves from other consciousness. They don't feel remorse, guilt, joy, or pride. These emotions come from the egocentric predicament, it happens when we finally discover ourselves.
This happens during the terrible twos. Which is why they're called the terrible twos because they world seems so ugly and painful and harsh. Adam and Eve began their terrible twos when they realized that they were naked. They became self-aware. Now they can feel guilt for the things they did wrong. Now they can sin. Now they can be accountable for their sins. Because now they realize that they can cause pain on others. If Adam was alone in the Garden and realized he was naked would he have hid himself?? No. But he hid because he realized that there was another consciousness present that could see him. Children do the same thing.
The Garden is real. The Bible is real. It is our story about us, told in such a way that we can understand it. Denying the truth of the Bible and God is denying that you exist. And you can't deny your existence if you don't exist...
....can you??

It was an animated movie about Indians...how did that get associated with Christianity?! LOL...
Bahmaboy just said it was boring...LOL, I guess if he opens his mind to a spirituality other than Christianity, all movies that he finds boring will become entertaining huh? :p
