hi,

This post is to just give you some important information if you are thinking
about leaving your love ones any land in the Bahamas. If you or i would to die
(God forbid) today and in the will you leave your son two lots in the Bahamas,
your son would now have to get your will probated in the country you live in
and then find a lawyer in the Bahamas and they must have the will probated in
the Bahamas as well. Right now this process can take anywhere between 1/2 year
to a year and can cost $1500-$2200.
So the recommended best thing to do is, if you know who you are going to leave
the land to, have a lawyer make up a conveyance, where as the owner would now
sign over the land to the son (which can cost a few hundred dollars) not the
thousands if you don’t do it. You now also can keep the conveyance (with your
will or with the lawyer) until you are ready to have it sent in to be recorded.

What do you think about it..........

How is this different from what we are currently doing?

I find that persons are leaving land in a "Will" instead of signing over ownership to the next person while they are "alive". The Two is very different!
