Jamaica’s female basketball team went down 56-50 to the Bahamas, the defending champions, in Saturday morning’s opening game of the 5th Caribbean Confederation Junior Championships in Trinidad.
Christina Mitchell scored 18 points and Shelly Reid bagged 10 for Jamaica, who actually led 27-26 at the half.
The Jamaicans will next face Puerto Rico Sunday morning at 9:00 local time.
Jamaica’s men's team will also open their account against the defending champions, Bahamas, Sunday afternoon at 3:00 local time.
