What Rory white? lol...I just remember he had posted that in another post...I had forgotten...But seriously....Rory you conchie Joe white or white white...Sadly it makes a difference to me...
canewry 06-02-05, - 10:59 AM Brent has 2 strikes against him, 1 like i said in my post yesterday the bahamas is not politicaly mature as yet, Mr Rigby took what my Symonette said and put a spin on it and created a whole racist rukus for the days following the report card. 2: Bahamians only vote for Liars opps i mean lawyers. if you look at all who ever offer themself to lead any party. They are knock down
Brent Symonnette is a lawyer!

1. Please explain how Mr. Rigby's racist inferrence is a strike against Brent? It should be a strike against Mr. Rigby for bringing race into the conversation, like his buddy Miller did in Ocean Cay. Talk about politically immature!
2. Brent was once the AG, so he is an accomplished lawyer! I do happen to agree with your remarks about the liars, though.
I think he would be excellent as PM or DPM. He has no interest in getting rich from investor back-deals, etc because he already is rich. He can solve a lot of problems with his no nonsense, practical approach to government. I just hope the rest of the country can see that too. :friday:

conchie joe is good for me; you is a true, true Bahamian. Brudda lets go down potter's cay and get sum Kalik and conch salad!! lol

Well we all know Rigby's remark was assinine to say the least...But Millers comments concerning Ocean Cay, well ah, I agreed with him. I interpreted his comment about colour in context....which was: due to the fact that the lady was white, we has and will always receive move "coverage" than a black counter part. Which is true. How many black environmental activist have any of you seen on tv lately...few and far between....

I do not accept this at all. Leslie Miller can walk into any media outlet (print, web, radio or TV) and say anything he likes knowing that it will be published for the entire country to hear or read. He works for the government as one of the most prominent and power ministers in the country.
Ms. Duncombe was working from a grass roots position and only got serious media play once Miller went for a stroll around Ocean Cay. He validated her (and others) opposing view by walking away from their presentation. He made her 'famous' as much as he gave her the desire to stand up to him. :duh:
I don't think that it's a matter of white environmentalists being on TV more than black environmentalists. I just don't think there are many environmentalists on TV period. It sends a bad image when gov't TV has a bunch of people protesting gov't projects on the screen. It. weakens the mind control and brainwashing function of the government sponsored TV.
pevans 06-02-05, - 12:58 PM Brent Symonette has stumbled a couple of times with vested interest errors and off-the-cuff remarks which left him wide open to justifiable criticism. I see a man who is conceited, self-serving and does not have a feel for the Bahamian people from all walks of life. He would not make a good Prime Minister.

Come on! Let's be serious. You can't name an individual in the Bahamas that hasn't said something dumb during his/her political career. His 'vested interest' errors concern entities that he holds a minority stake in, if he even remembered that he owned part of it!
Every politician is conceited, self-serving - Bahamian or not. It's the nature of the beast.
What he does have, is the ability to actively listen to those that speak to him. He may not be from 'all walks of life', but he's a man for his people, in my opinion.
pevans 06-02-05, - 03:31 PM But who are "his people"....certainly not the majority of Bahamians out there scratching out a living.
I am surprised you think he listens...his rhetoric is typical of a politician and he just loves the sound of his own voice...I think he listens to his own ideas more than anyone else's...
I think Loretta Turner is a far better choice for the FNM...if I had to suggest anyone else for leadership at this stage.

Oh, yeah. I see lots of the governement officials hangin with those 'scratching out a living'. Mr. Baha Mar seems to be the PM's people. Power conglomerates seem to be Miller's people. None of them are hangin' around you and me, are they? You (and others) seem to be blaming Brent for being wealthy which, in my book, is about as petty as it gets. At least I can be sure he isn't selling my country in return for a payoff!
I am surprised you think he listens...his rhetoric is typical of a politician and he just loves the sound of his own voice...
As I've said before, politicians are known for rhetorical crap, vanity, and the love of their own voice. You are holding him at fault for the few things you will find in every politician including the current lot, which is unreasonable.
I think he listens to his own ideas more than anyone else's...
I listen to my own ideas more than anyone else's, and you do too. It's called an opinion and the speaker usually thinks his/hers is more correct than anyone elses. It doesn't mean that other's opinions are not heard, though.
I think Loretta Turner is a far better choice for the FNM...if I had to suggest anyone else for leadership at this stage.
Good! And what qualities does this individual bring to the table?
RockWell 06-02-05, - 06:42 PM :uh: What this thread is still ongoing.....I say to the hopeful Brent will never & I repeat never be the PM of this country.Unless when the FNM stand a chance to win again in say oh the next 15yrs he goes in as DPM & the PM resigns or dies.
