Members at Bahamas issues, before the elections of 2002, the minister responsible for BEC, Mr. Bradley Roberts, lambasted the FNM government for making a bad deal with a Spanish equipment supplier instead of going with the more reliable slow speed generators provided by another company. The maintenace problems assciated with the Spanish equipment was being blamed for the frequent power outages at the time. We learned later that the other compay was a North Korean concern. Was pressure from the Americans the reason why we did not buy the North Korean generators? Why haven't we gotten an expose from Mr. Roberts about his findings on the matter? Was there corruption involved? I would like to know. Does anyone care?

We must be doing something wrong! Why is it that the lights remained on in Bagdad as it was being bombed but ours go out at the first clap of thunder?

There is only one solution to the power outage problems. Buy a generator! BEC is so bogged down with unions and unqualified managers that I can't see any hope of relief anytime soon. It seems that the talent is not equal to the task - regrettably, a statement that can apply to many of the government offices.

Watch it, CG.

1. Generators can kill, especially when improperly connected
2. Once the gov't realizes that the amjority of people can produce their own electricity, they will ban generators, just like when they found out that VOIP was effecting the bottom line of phone co!

While I'm on the genset topic, did you hear about the guy with a genset running after the hurricane? He woke up in the middle of the night, hot and sweaty, but could hear the engine running. He went outside and found a running briggs & straton lawn mower in the place that his genset was running hours before!

One would hope that the owner of a generator would have read the instruction booklet from cover to cover, and understood it - assuming of course they can read! (An assumption, perhaps we should not automatically make.) :)

Perhaps, but there are a number of things in the Bahamas that are illegal - no one pays attention, not the least of all, the police!

I think that all generators should come equipped with a shotgun! I have had mine almost stolen twice, but is it amazing how effective the sound of a pump shotgun is being "racked"(loaded) - even over the thunderous noise of a generator. :shaky:

Perhaps Rory should include an electronic box that makes the sound for his line of security equipment! Sell an advanced version with dog barks AND guns!

And they say that innovation is dead in the Bahamas. No, man, necessity breeds invention!

So it does! When we have the wit to see it - so few do! :(

B.E.C needs new management... :dunce:
:sarcastic
i never noticed!
:jawdroop:

lol....
what they need to do is stop having bahamas oil companies influence and corrupt their strategy!
and that will never happen as long as brad roberts is in charge...cause i think he is freeport oil..
and if the fnm get back into power, tiny turnquest is a part of freeport oil!!

see how they brought the new deisel generator...most likely it guzzles more deisel than the last one!
:taped2:

but ya didnt hear that from me!!
