My only concern was with SV. Havent seen it in CM but ill look next time.
Vehicle ... Cigerette ... Smoke .. Drive ... Puff .... Fly ...
Hmmmm. .. ofcourse my gas guzzling jeep comes first :)
Sea breezes ?? I live on the beach and i get no breeze i have to live with AC as from 7-9am and 4-6pm i get smoked out from all the blue and black smoking cars and jitneys .. my windows are black outside, screens have to be cleaned over and over ... Mikki needs to understand noone here cares about emmisions it is a really big issue compared to the US, i mean when you driving down the street and cant see a thing its like fog, but its smoke from a car or a jitney, the car being the worst cause it cuts off your breathing straight away. Then there are the burning dump and neighbors burhing their trash and bush, eyes burning sitting inside your own home and coughing from inhalling appauling amounts of fire smoke ... its out of control here, but noone cares.
Where does all this go ... in our lungs .. and our brain, so may as well just smoke and get it over with :sarcastic
bahmaboy 07-30-05, - 09:41 PM rory that is a funny observation. u are right since we inhale all that crap people who want to smoke should. at the same time those that want to do that should do it in their own homes and in their private vehicles. i firmly support the strong anti smoking stance in public places thats goin on now.
i'll tell yall what should be illegal. i have seen this on 3 different occasions. i saw a woman smoking while pregnant (2 times) and once i saw 2 people smoking like a chimmney with 2 kids in the back of the car and the windows cracked a little. thats the only time when smoking should be illegal
Ting-um 07-30-05, - 10:00 PM My issue isn't that cigarette smoking is worse than other pollutants. My issue is that cigarette smoking only adds to pollution, as if the problem wasn't bad enough. Its already bad that our economy is so dependent on the fossil fuels that emit extremely harmful waste. But...smoking is not a necessity. It is purely an indulgence. Which is why it is silly to draw a comparison between a purely bad habit/addiction and a necessity. Poor people usually ride those jitneys because they have no other way of making it to work, so that they can make their lives better. Making their lives better means that they can make the lives of others better. Smoking does not present such a dilemma. It is strictly a disgusting selfish habit.
Sure, jitneys cause a problem. But shutting down jitneys means thousands of hardworking citizens are out of work. They don't get on the jitneys with the mindset that they want to poison others just for their own selfish gain. But tobacco companies *DO*. And the worse part is...*EVERYONE*, especially smokers know it..
I know that the problem in the Bahamas is different than the problem in the US. The problem is no law enforcement. No standards. Most Bahamians fight for the wrong things, when the things they should be fighting for are ignored. I'm speaking in generalities. But when you have a very bad situation, you do whatever you have to in order to salvage what you have left. Bahamians aren't willing to have standards or make any sacrifices. The society has been dying since the 80s. What we need is a Bahamian Hitler.
i know it would be better if noone smoked, for sure.
Vicky 07-31-05, - 09:07 AM How about insecticide on fruit?? Insecticide contains arsenic and cyanide??
Pollution is only part of the problem involved with cigarette smoking. Cigarettes kill humans as well as the atmosphere. I object to smoking mainly because active and passove smoking kills. That is a pretty dangerous luxury without any benefit to society.
Cigarettes are a part of the economy like crack is. Acid or marijauna.
You mean like drinking alcohol? There is no benefit in drinking beer or wine now is there.
You legalize these drugs regulate them and use some of the money to set up detox centers.

Poor people usually ride those jitneys because they have no other way of making it to work, so that they can make their lives better. Ting-um 07-31-05, - 10:59 AM Yes, I also mean drinking alcohol. I would also ban drinking alcohol. But can I ask a question, when you drink alcohol are there any toxic chemicals that you are passing to others. No?? Well, to me that isn't as bad as smoking cigarettes.
No, the Amish don't get along just fine without cars. They get along, but they don't get along fine.

It may not be toxic but it certainly could be terminal - there are things that can be passed along by drinking. STD / AIDS / KIDS anyone?
If you ban alcohol, how are the ugly people gonna get laid?

 These people amaze me. To deliberately stop the clock in the 1800's takes a fortitude that I can't conceive. Can you imagine saying no to a John Deere tractor after watching your plow horse's butt 14 hours a day, every day of your life? Not taking plain Mary up to the hayloft after seeing a tourist with cleavage and lipstick? It would drive me nuts.
But, they do have some things a little easier than us. When they repaint the inside of their house, they don't have to worry about taking the wall plates off the electrical sockets, light switches and telephone jacks!
They don't have them!
they also dont have to worry about what to wear from day to day ...
casualobserver 07-31-05, - 03:52 PM they also dont have to worry about what to wear from day to day ...
they don't care how much a barrel of oil cost
casualobserver 07-31-05, - 03:54 PM they also dont have to worry about what to wear from day to day ...
plus, they don't even know we're talking about them.
(no computers) :dunce:
they don't care how much a barrel of oil cost
neither do i, i only care what the gas costs at the pump

Ok then how did human get along with out cars. After all human were around long before cars were.
Please explain how the Amish are having a hard time.
Ting-um 07-31-05, - 07:20 PM Humans got along because it was the 1700s. If you'd prefer returning to the 1700s, the amish will welcome you. The rest of us live in 2005. And as you said, cigarettes have been around for a long time -- so cigarettes aren't a result of progress, unlike automobiles and other modes of transportation that make life more efficient.

What is one mans progress is another mans destruction. Progress of transportation vs the atmosphere of our planet.
Come on you are quibbling about poop. You can't tell someone they can't smoke because of pollution when you start your car. After all you could walk to get where you are going if thats to slow you can run or ride a bike. transportation in a luxury.
