well um, all i know is this: the last few airports ive been to this year: (stanstead, liverpool, rome (fiumicino), malmo and even CAIRO - goddamit) NON SMOKING! now im sorry, but european airports need know follow this trend - i wouldnt even talk about EGYPT...SMOKING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD! they offer you cigarettes when buying a mobile phone in that country!...whats more, all the toilets have ashtrays next to the toilet roll! c'mon man! (okok...i admit that might be too much), but then there's the other extreme of not being able to smoke OUTSIDE on a BUS STOP - bloody swedes! :realmad:

Ok, so I lied....

Abiskan:

SMOKING KILLS. That's why. Second hand smoke kills faster. You're all up on the stats for how bad capital punishment is -- but you're quite fine with poisoning innocent bystanders?? If you wanna kill yourself, fine. But smoking isn't your right. And killing me with your cigarette breath isn't your right either. Matter of fact if we were dating we would always have sex from behind. :dancer:

La - A! thats where ya wrong! It IS my right. i know the financial effects ($10.29 for 20 pack M/lights in london - OUCH!)...and I know the health effects - plastered all over the front! if i decide to (stupidly) ignore the above (because of something called an addiction) - so be it! if i am smoking outside, why should you have the right to ask me to put my cigarette out? just MOVE!

Matter of fact if we were dating we would always have sex from behind.

"Nearly as significant." so says the American Heart Association. http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3031088
Not "Second hand smoke kills faster" as you suggest.

Abiskan:

You were complaining about smoking inside not being allowed. If you wanna smoke outside in the woods hundreds of miles away from civilization. Enjoy. If it is your right to smoke then it is my right to ask you to move if you are smoking next to me.

CG:

Ok. Same site says that separating smokers from nonsmokers in the same airspace does not eliminate the risk of secondhand smoke. Only reduces it. The air is now filthy. Thanks smokers. Thank you for global warning.

if yah live in nassau you would know there are alot worse things than smoking cigarettes: burning dump fires and locals burning their bush and garbage, thousands of dirty diesel jap vehicles, thousands of blue smoking cars that cuts your breathing off in seconds ... as long as all this crap occurs here in nassau without anyone else giving a hoot, ill smoke a chimney and everywhere i possibly can! :D

Hey! dont blame US for global warming! Blame yourself, your friends, your family, and those intellectually challenged people in the country where you live! they can't seem to understand, ITS NOT ALL ABOUT THEM. they constitute 4% of the world's population - FOUR PERCENT and are responsible for 1/4 of ALL carbon dioxide emissions! hello??? please - leave us smokers in peace and go pester your oil lovin, SUV drivin, non-recyclin buddies in your own backyard!

I don't live in Nassau.

Rory:

There are laws against the actions you speak of. There are no laws against the pollution of cigarettes.

Abiskan:

Yes, I can blame you. You are a part of that 4 percent. And while that 4 percent aren't very bright to know that what they are doing is bad enough -- smokers only make it worse by doing what that 4 percent does *AND* more by smoking. If everyone adds 10 points of pollution already, smokers add another 2 points to their already bad 10 points for a grand total of 12 points of pollution. I'm happy. You act as if smokers are so environmentally conscious that they don't drive SUVs, litter, and use CFCs. If you'll smoke...trust me, I'm sure you don't care enough about the environment to recycle, drive green cars, and control other pollutants. Generally speaking.

There are absoluletly no laws in the bahamas against the actions i mentioned, besides lighting an illegal fire, but then there is noone who cares to enforce that law down here anyway.

If the person is an adult it is their right to smoke. If a person does not smoke it is their right to breath fresh air. I am sure if a non smoker in a restricted place nicely asked a smoker to not smoke the the response would be favorable inside or out side. I agree there should be places where smokers can go and have a nice meal or what ever and smoke all they want. Just as it should be for a non smoker to have smoke free places.
For the record I have never smoked. I do not like going into places filled with smokers smoking. You come out and even your cloths stink of smoke. But I am free to choose to go in or not.

Mikki, I think there would be a larger impact on the environment if people bought smaller cars than if smokers stopped smoking - what do you think? sure we might contribute, but we ALL contriute in some way. and i think that if each smoker cut back of fags there will be much less of an impact, than if people started car-pooling or simply driving more environementally friendly vehicles - thats a start! as for burning these trash and things - lord thats a TOTALLY different story!

PS: i am one of the few smokers (i guess) concerned about the environment; and as you can presume (from our previous conversation), i recycle religiously.

You're right. Nobody enforces the law, that's different. And there aren't vehicle inspection requirements??

yes, but nothing for emission requirements.
