Vicky 07-24-05, - 09:35 AM This is wrong out right wrong.
The victims were charged with disrupting public order among other things. They had been imprisoned since 14 months ago, meaning that they were 16 years old at the time of the alleged offences.

Thats sick, something needs to be done about Iran, their regime is and always was just as bad as Sadaam. Mind you this happens in Cuba also, and our government is cosy with that Regime. In Cuba for example they are executed for simply talking on a forum such as this one, and in the instance of Iran, they simply disturbed the peace .. yet they are first tortured, then executed in public. There are too many sick bastids running these countries in the middle east and the communist world.
Well, let their own deal with it, cause they just cry its all the US and UKs fault after they ask for their help, lame *** dummies.

I don't think you can compare the two. I agree that executing a minor is not a good thing. But those in the States were convicted of murder, not disturbing the peace. (What is the fine for disturbing the peace in the US? A fine? A short jail time? Not death.) They were also not flogged in the US. They were not publicly executed in the US.
Perhaps, some can agree that execution in general is a barbaric thing to do. But it is clear that boys that were hung, live in a country that is more barbaric than most.

Actually that website seems to be a bit bias. Iran is evil of course but I don't believe that they would hang 2 of their own young men for only disturbing the peace. I think we should look for more information about that case online before we come to a conclusion.
One thing in particular I noticed about the article is that no names were mentioned in regards to any of the young men.

That is true. "Disturbing the peace" seems to be a very vague charge. We are not told what that means in their country. Never the less, flogging? That sound bad to me, no matter what the charge. :hammer:
P.S. In Islam, the death penalty can be handed down for two reasons - intentional murder
or " spreading mischief in the land." (We might call that disturbing the peace?) I had to look it up but they call that, Fasad fil-ardh.
Under Fasad fil-ardh is the following - Treason, Apostasy, Terrorism (That is interesting!!) Adultery, Piracy, Rape and Homosexual behavior. So those boys could have done any of those things. I wonder if we will ever find out.

That's another thing! The article says that they were each flogged 228 times yet on this picture they are able to stand and await execution:

I don't know about you all but after getting 228 licks (even if it was from a small tamarind switch) they would have to tote me to the gallows.

Yes, they do look in remarkable good health - I am sure a few seconds later there did not look so good! :rip:
