These are the two core subjects I feel alot students struggle in. YorickBrown 07-26-05, - 10:05 AM Excellent idea, but the primary challenge would be to get the persons who really need the clinics to show up. Teniel 07-26-05, - 02:00 PM In that case the Ministry should seek to extending school hours until 4. That extra hour would then facilitate such classes. garnelleo 07-26-05, - 02:34 PM In H. Nash and C. R. Walker they have lunchtime and afternoon classes were students can come. And in C. R. Walker they made it mandatory for students who failed in those 2 classes to go. Alien 07-28-05, - 02:27 PM Well in defence of everyone.... We have good accounts majors here, and a good finance base, so it isnt maths per-say its complex theories! And to be honest, we dont have any nuclear physicists or any technological background to any great extent here in the Bahamas. The reason that we have good lawyers and good accountants is because this country has a good strong cultural base surrounding Finance and Law! And on to English, again, we have a cultural difference. Our education leadership has to deal with a serious culture clash.... We have a British system, but our kids identify with an American style system! Things like spelling, and Grammar in paticular are affected by this. The way an Englishman would construct a sentence an American would not think of going such a long route of verbage! So this is where we are at with this...... How we tackle it is up in the air! But in order to make the grades more veiwer freindly to all parties concerned, is we can continue to tweek the system to service Bahamian learning needs and if that means offering both standards into our system "expeccialy in terms of english language" then so be it. And until we have a huge tech and Scientific advancement our math scores will continue to reflect what we measure up to advanced societies like Britain and America. |
