I know that there are bahamians out there who are interested and are in the process of achieving a higher degree. I myself plan to go to graduate school to obtain a ph.d in human genetics. I was just wondering if there was anyone else who also had intentions of getting a ph.d or higher degree (in science particularly). I know it unrealistic but sometimes i feel like i'm the only one..just give a shout out I guess...if u know someone or if u are.

well if you want a PH.d then get one. so what if no one else wants one. when you get to that level you will meet tons of people just like you who want a PH.D.
the main reason the majority of scholars dont go that far is becuase it takes too long.

I agree go for your PHD. Some people will do their bachelors, work a bit, get a masters, work a bit, get a PHD and do University research. This makes more sense if you want to get experience and actually teach. Also hands on experience is just as valuable as classroom, plus you get paid to do it! Good luck - if you want to do science make sure you can work in the US or elsewhere!

Working on a CPA certificate(with a BA in accounting), a CFA certificate (with a BA in finance), and a master's in business admin. Haven't decided about the doctorate in finance just yet. All of the top business schools I've looked at have degree plans that are 60 hours. That's another two to three years and considering what I'm intending on doing that's about another six years *AFTER* I finish my last bachelor's, which luckily is december. Also, that's 30 to 60 thousand per year at every school I've considered.

I started on an MBA track, but after coming home and working for a while I plan on changing to a Master's degree program in Computer Science when I start Univ. again.
My ultimate goal is a PhD degree in either BioTech or Computer Science.
