So basically what you are saying is you can't justify anything you have to say with a credible explanation...well keep fluttering...I promise to make the end quick for ya... :rip:
Y2K, you need to call an exterminator, the cockroaches probably coming from the sewar, specially if they the flying type.
PS. way to go off topic :shaky:

pharoah 09-10-05, - 07:53 AM Channel 12 early evening news had a full report on this. They had a pretty good interview with the committee, most of whom seem to be upstanding, intelligent, attractive young women. The committee said that they did not consider stripping the young lady of her crown. They spoke extensively on the matter.
They said that the 2 ladies who founded the pagent wanted the pagent to be run on Christian principles. They are now deceased but they were firm in that requirement. They are actually catering to chaste young teens of high moral standards.
According to them the young queen was not following the rules of the pagent. They claimed she has received most of her prizes, and that many of the events she was required to attend she did not attend and did not even give them a reason for not attending!
There were 12 events which the queen should have attended which were sponsered by some of the business houses who were awarding the prizes which she never attended even though she was specifically requested and required to attend. This was one of the reasons she did not receive some of her prizes.
Apparently when they got wind of this sexual orientation business, they wanted to do a private meeting with the queen to deal with the situation in a delicate and tactful manner, but again could not get the co-operation of the queen.
Now please bear in mind that the above has absolutely nothing to do with my views -- It is only what I gathered from watching the channel 12 news.
The rainbow alliance ought to be A shame of themselves for leading this young, beautiful and very articulate girl to the slaughter block like this. While i am sensitive to the fact that no one should be discriminate against, this matter concerning teen bahamas is not an issue of discrimination. It is base on what constitute a teen role model. The rainbow alliance should know that the teen bahamas pageant is base on the teen queen upholding the principle of morality that is base on the bible. No way can it can be construed that a 'gay teen queen' was envision as a 'role model' in establishing this pageant. The commitee had an obligation to investigate when it came to there attention that the young teen queen was gay. It is unfortunate that she lost her crown but once she confessed to being gay and made a big issue of the same, the commitee hands were tied; she in effect contributed to her dismissal, aid and cajoled by the powerful rainbow alliance.

didnt the board already go over this:
1- rainbow aliance IS NOT leading this girl any where, i do believe it is/was her choice to do thing this way
2- christian pageant my mass. there are sooooooo many things many christians especially extreme ones could/do find wrong with that pageant.
3- becuase she is gay, she cant be a role model? it is crazy to think a person in the spot light or leader ship position is/would cuase others to be gay. either a person is gay or they arent.
seeing gari as teen bahamas WILL NOT make every female in the bahamas gay. it would encourage others who have beeen dealing with the issues privately to speak up or to feel a little better about themselves. this is where people get the two confused
Abiskan Moon-Angel 09-10-05, - 11:20 AM didnt someone say that one of the committee members was pregnant...outside wedlock? surely this is just as bad...true she aint wearing the crown, but damn...who should be more of a role model for the pageant, than the committee members?!!? or at least, dont they serve as role models for the girls who enter the pageant? if this is true - a committee member is pregnant and unmarried, she should kindly bow out, because THIS is the hypocrisy that many people on this thread are talking about!

The point is for them to pick somebody who they feel represents a certain standard. Not for them to be that standard. If you ask every member to create the perfect car I'm sure they could. Even though the perfect car that each person dreams up may not be a car that they own or can own. That doesn't stop them from being able to establish a standard or idea of perfection that they themselves cannot achieve.
i thought a beauty pageant would be evil in the eyes of the christian church, due that models represent sexual objects to most males.

The thing is ONLY homosexuals bring up their bedroom business to the general public & then want people to ignore it.
:screw:

hold up wait a minute. so they must pick someone to reflect the standard of the pageant, but they (committee members) themselves do not need to set an example? even though they are the committee? the body formed to represent the pageant/pick the judges or judge themselves/compile the rules and standards of the competition? bollucks!sorry, thats not a good enough argument. so you saying that the committee members are free to have illegitimate children, because they dont need to set the example - the teen queen must! how dumb, because by sitting on the committee, they do (to an extent) have an image to live up to. otherwise it would be perfectly ok for a satanists (for example) to sit on the committee of a pageant operated 'in accordance with christian principles and values'.
Ting-um 09-10-05, - 04:00 PM I like the way you put words in my mouth.
I didn't say that the committee members *CAN* or *SHOULD* be without standards. There is *SOMEBODY* who decides who these committee members should be. *THAT* somebody decides on what standards or morals they want the committee members to adhere to. They *MAY* or they *MAY NOT* be the same standards that apply to the pageant winner that the committee chooses. You are saying that the morals of the committee members should be on the same tier or above that of the pageant winner. No, they don't they just have to know what standards and morals that should be assigned to the role of pageant winner.
In a court of law, different people decide who the judge, jury and attorneys should be based on seperate criteria. But all of those roles have to come together in deciding whether or not a person accused of a crime is guilty or not.
This is simple.
Whether you accept this argument or not, similar illustrations are all over the globe. You just choose to apply it when and where you wish.
Alien 09-10-05, - 05:52 PM If anyone is that stupid enough to beleive that the sissy gang didnt have anything to do with this whole scenario must be put in the back of the classroom!!!
For some reason they feel that becasue they are enlightened....the rest of us must be stupid!!!
:dgi:
Ting-um 09-10-05, - 06:49 PM What would make them feel that they are enlightened??
Prison is full of 'sissies' -- I'm sure prison houses some of the dumbest people of any society. After all, they got caught.
gullyrock 09-10-05, - 08:33 PM my three cents....even if you don't want 'em!
beauty pageants are sooooo outdated! They send the wrong message...only pretty (perfect) girls are worthy of attention and prizes and the plain, overweight girls should hide behind their imperfections! Not worth much, go eat another donut!
Now as to the pageant committee living to "lower" standards than the participants are expected to...what a crock! And then when the Christian card is played, you got to bring out the deck! There is NO greater sin! Don't do as I do, do as I say is the WRONG message to send! Ms. Sands mentioned scandalous behaviour...well it just goes to show how the times have changed...unwed mothers once created scandal...and there was a time when female teachers had to remain virgin spinsters!!! So I guess 20 years from now openly gay girls can win the crown and have "gay rights" as their platform!!
Ahhh the hypocrisy that exists in our country!
