Don't really know what you are talking about, but my thing is that if the committee has certain standards then what can you do?? That is not *HER* crown, she was awarded a position by a committee. They have every right to remove a title from someone who in their judgement doesn't reflect their standards.
Just like Bahamians *CHOOSE* a leader. Sure, becoming a leader of the Bahamian people is a great accomplishment -- but the leadership *ISN'T* his or hers -- it is *OURS*.
*WE* decided.
*WE* chose.
Based on *OUR* standards, if the leader doesn't reflect what we want in leadership, we have every right to remove *OUR* title from him and give it to someone that we feel does fit our standards.
Same thing with the Miss Teen Committee.
Did you vote?? Did you have a say in who would be Miss Teen Bahamas?? I didn't think so.
RockWell 09-01-05, - 08:25 PM So why is it that y'all only calling the committee evil? From my point of view it's her own kind (lesbo's) that are trully the evil set.Knowing that it would cost problems for her they went to the committee & exposed her. Also when questioned she could have maintained her identity by simply telling them it's none of their business (which it really isn't) instead she made a decision to state that she is a lesbian, therefore she must be prepared to deal with the consequence, seeing that a beauty queen must hold to a standard. And personally I see nothing wrong with the committee setting what their standards are.

You so smart
canewry 09-01-05, - 09:18 PM im sorry, but are you saying that being a lesbian is evil?
yep!!!
canewry 09-01-05, - 09:19 PM This is so true discrimination is evil.
I agree, discrimination is also evil!
canewry 09-01-05, - 09:23 PM You are what you do.
A killer is somebody who kills.
A thief is somebody who steals.
A lesbian is a woman who prefers women.
And you too are right...
Killers perform evil acts....
thieves perform evil acts...
and lesbians perform...ah...ump
and I can go on fornicators perform evil acts,
Adulterers perform evil acts
canewry 09-01-05, - 09:26 PM :dgi: This is my problem right here with fags,Why in the world did she have to announce that she's a lesbian? I mean who really cares what the hell you do sexually, I thought this was a beauty pagent.
You must realize, there exist a biger agenda!
canewry 09-01-05, - 09:27 PM At first glance this seems to be a clear case of discrimination! but it is really? While this delicate issue call for a well crafted response from those in charge, I think that the queen should be allowed to continue her reign, seeing that there is only two more months left before the next queen is chosen. In the meantime the council can therefore go ahead and make the necessary changes to its constitution if they so desire.
Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.
Boy, you let them go ahead and write in their constitution that no gays are allow...they would close down overnight!

If the committee's standards are biased against homosexuals, then they are in the wrong (and dare I say racist?). I hope that she has a damn good lawyer; and don't get me started on Perry's leadership . . .

It's not her own kind, it's just human nature. Now I agree that she couldn't have told them to mind their own business, but the fact that the issue was all about sexuality, she couldn't have really avoided it.
There shouldn't be a consequence for being gay.
canewry 09-01-05, - 09:47 PM you shouldnt use the word 'fag' - its discriminatory and distasteful...not to mention derogatory.
boy..does it even matter that the punch is not online??? all the scoops on bahamasissues.com -thanks vic!
on the other hand, i dont know the whole story, but if she really is being discriminated against because of her sexual orientation, this is wrong - but to be expected (in the bahamas especially). however, what struck me is the sheer strength of a 17 year old bahamian girl to come out and make such a statement! if nothing else, she should be commended for that!
She had been coached by the rainbow Alliance...
Truly they have done this young, innocent girl a diservice.
They catapulted this girl's sexuality to the forefront of the entire nation/world, just so they can promote their agenda. You think she possesses strength; she will need strength: when she goes to school, and everyone knows her business, when she goes to church and everyone knows her name, when she goes to the library and she hears the whispers. She will need strength when her friends parents become concern that she is stalking and corrupting their daughters. She will need strength when her mother friends talk behind her back, critiguing her parental skills...she will need strength when silly men memorize her picture and mimick her on the street... Vicky and his cohorts helped alienate this child...and that is a sin. They have committed the gravest sin of all, the corruption of an innocent child. The Rainbow Coalition is not this child's saviour, but this child's destruction. If they were really concern with her welfare and development, they would have negoiated quietly with the committee, in order to obtain what the child deserves. Now, even if she obtains this, this poor child will receive more than she expected.
In time this child will realize that she was used simply for selfish reasons...In time, when she realizes and understands her sexuality, she will understand that her sexuality is a private thing, a sacred thing, a question she could have refused to have answered!

not racist but prejudice....
racist has to do with race....
