View Full Version : Miss (Lesbian) Teen Bahamas
Abiskan Moon-Angel 09-02-05, - 12:16 PM I totally agree with you. Sadly enough. This type a thing is just upset me. Why does she need to hold a press conference with the Rainbow Alliance.......... Where on God's earth was her parents. I read the articles online and never once heard a response from her parents or family. And i wasn't meaning a response to her being a sissy, but to her position as Miss Teen Bahamas; a role model and representation of all that is positive and uplifting for our young Bahamians.
I do blame the Committee whole heartedly because; if they had these tenants clearly stated in their rules of competition, this foolishness wouldn't of happened. The people of "alternative lifestyles" always lookin for one thing. a platform. And they will use that to cry discrimination till thy Kingdom come.
But my question is, if this type a foolishness is illegal, how they get headquarters in the Bahamas? Oh then i guess they will say its their freedom of speech and stuff!
It's sad how this plague is being spread by grown adults and corrupting young innocent minds in all mediums.
Take da crown back, give her the gifts n tell her ride of into the sunset to sissy no more!
woah woah! slow ya roll chica! I just read another article in the paper about this situation, and it seems this matter runs deeper than this girl's sexual orientation - so well, whatever. however, i posted this thread under the preliminary assumption that she was being stripped because she is a lesbian - in accordance with yesterday's headlines. turns out there's alot more, including her failure to show up at certain events, etc. That said, some of the comments posted bring a number of questions to light with regard to people (mis)understanding the issues at hand (eg: comments above)!
And i wasn't meaning a response to her being a sissy, but to her position as Miss Teen Bahamas; a role model and representation of all that is positive and uplifting for our young Bahamians.
um..ok - i know (personally) 3 former miss teen's and 3 former miss bahamas'. now...please dont get me started on 'positive role models' and 'uplifting for young bahamians'. I believe what you do in the bedroom is your business and noone else's, but in a country as small as ours, there are sometimes 'leakages' :footmouth. yes the pageant then has the right to strip a queen of her title where she (for example) poses nude, gets pregnant, or fights in the mall at marathon - but im sorry, i can think of one (only one) former beauty queen i know, who in my book has done something worthwhile with her life. the only 'uplifting' most of the others have done was up on someone else's man (both married and non).
PS: did your mummy not tell you that 'sissy' is a bad word?
I do blame the Committee whole heartedly because; if they had these tenants clearly stated in their rules of competition, this foolishness wouldn't of happened. The people of "alternative lifestyles" always lookin for one thing. a platform. And they will use that to cry discrimination till thy Kingdom come.
so what you want them to say?
-no gays
-no lesbians
-no muslims
-no sikhs
-no atheists
-no female teenagers who consume alcohol/cigarettes/marijuana
-no female teenagers that curse/fight ova man/etc
FYI ; its not miss gospel teen...and narrowing the pageant to 'good christian role models' would, quite frankly, bring an end to the pageant! as for using a platform to campaign for equal rights - well, how else do you propose they make their voices heard? we are nearly 6 years into the 21st century and people are still discriminated against because of the sexual preference?! please--get a life! and make it an open-minded/progressive one if you can!
But my question is, if this type a foolishness is illegal, how they get headquarters in the Bahamas? Oh then i guess they will say its their freedom of speech and stuff!
being gay is not illegal! the act of 'buggery' is. primitive. just primitive.
It's sad how this plague is being spread by grown adults and corrupting young innocent minds in all mediums.
oh sweet jesus! thank you LORD i have chosen to make my bed with men...because i simply dont know how the homosexual community makes it in nassau! i mean - plague??? a plague implies a sudden onslaught of something. homosexuals have resided in bahamas from time - and they will continue to. please, its not like suddenly there's a plague! good grief! they may have simply now decided to 'come out' and hats off to them, because the bahamas is one of the more homophobic countries in the world! (right up there w/ Jamaica, the other caribbean islands and Africa)!
das MY 5 cents!
Alien 09-02-05, - 02:26 PM this whole thing is sick!!

Being open minded doesn't mean i should compromise a rule of GOD! Buggery, sisyism, lesbianism, homosexuality....... whatever you wanna call it. I don't need Law classes or English education. God, Allah! Yahweh, Jehovah... i ein care wha u call him/her.... it is wrong.
See liberalism in instances is detrimental to an educated person in some cases. I just read the Bahama Journal and this story has much more corners n twists than the Rainbow Coalition purports. It proves an outright abuse of a situation and opportunistic ideal to promote their supposed "struggle for respect."
As small as our country is in size we surpass major countries in intellect in cases. So our size doesn't mean our inability to prefer a society that can procreate, one that can socially stand next to any other great country in the world. Nah our morall fabric already ain't the best in normal family structures... but if ya boat gat whole you don't put more in it!
I hope the Coalition (and i use that loosely cause the words i wanna use ain't good.) happy how they convince this girl that street tactics was an option for her to deal with her situation.
RockWell 09-02-05, - 05:09 PM This thread is so funny till it ain't even laughable no more. What I really don't get is the misuse of the word discrimination.I mean if someone has a set of rules in place & they really dn't hamper your day to day living(just your WANTS) Please tell me how in the worlds this stoops to the level of what yall call discrimination?FYI:To discriminate is to make a distinction, thats it plain & simple.OHhhhhhhhhhhhh yea "Off With Their Heads" :sarcastic

Hey man, you mussy been reading my mind! I was just planning to get on Vicky's case -- I mean she uses the word "discrimination" for everything in a bad sense. This word can be applied to everyone in many cases, not necessarily with a bad implication. My mother used to say there will be discrimination in Heaven!
In all this talk, this is one case I really hope the truth comes out of. I like the young queen and I believe she is a really nice person. While driving this morning I caught the tail end of an interview with her over radio station 101.9FM. This station plays Christian music all the time, and the man who was interviewing her was a Christian. He asked her some pretty pointed questions and she was frank and upfront in her answers. The interviewer said he knows one of her brothers very well and she promised to have a private interview with him.
Now get this!!! What really impressed me with this interview was something which both Delroy and Canewry already stated or hinted at, that is, this young lady is NOT lesbian!!! I concluded this after the interviewer asked her if she would agree to couselling in order to be delivered from her situation, and she fully agreed! So doesn't that sound just like a kinda mixed up teenager who maybe has something on her mind or needs family support or something?
To Moon-Angel: Thanks! And it made me proud to be a Bahamian when you say that Bahamians are very homophobic! That means we are a Christian nation who are upholding and obeying God's laws! Amen!
Vicky 09-02-05, - 07:04 PM I totally agree with you. Sadly enough. This type a thing is just upset me. Why does she need to hold a press conference with the Rainbow Alliance.......... Uh we are an organization that stands against discrimination of GLBT she is L. She requested to use our center for the press conference. She asked for our support. Where on God's earth was her parents. I read the articles online and never once heard a response from her parents or family. Another thing you could not get if you were not there. Her older brother was next to her from the first contact.
The people of "alternative lifestyles" always lookin for one thing. a platform. And they will use that to cry discrimination till thy Kingdom come. discrimination is discrimination if those being discriminated against don't speak up who will.
But my question is, if this type a foolishness is illegal, how they get headquarters in the Bahamas? Oh then i guess they will say its their freedom of speech and stuff! It is not illegal in the Bahamas. It is only illegal to have sex with the same sex in a public place.
It's sad how this plague is being spread by grown adults and corrupting young innocent minds in all mediums.

I was avoiding this but I have no choice. I challange you to prove it.
See liberalism in instances is detrimental to an educated person in some cases. I just read the Bahama Journal and this story has much more corners n twists than the Rainbow Coalition purports. The media is only giving the public the parts to keep them intrested. As far as the discrimanation goes we stand with her. The breach of obligations seems to be an exscuse. If it is the case then she has used the Alliance not the Alliance use her. But that is between Gari the commitee the lawyers and maybe a judge.
As small as our country is in size we surpass major countries in intellect in cases. So our size doesn't mean our inability to prefer a society that can procreate, one that can socially stand next to any other great country in the world. Nah our morall fabric already ain't the best in normal family structures... but if ya boat gat whole you don't put more in it!
procreate!! Homosexuality has been apart of humanity since there have been humans and the world is still becomming over populated.
I hope the Coalition (and i use that loosely cause the words i wanna use ain't good.) happy how they convince this girl that street tactics was an option for her to deal with her situation.
Get it right Alliance not Coalition.
You seem to be intelagent after all you are using a computer. But I have to wonder if you can read.
Did you not see my post where I said she contacted us we did not go after her. We got her in contact with a lawyer she is acting on his advice not ours.
This is not something that just happend yesterday, This has been going on for months. She called on us to use the center for a press conferance. We stated that we give her our full suppot in this apparent case of discrimanation.
Key word apparent

Fornication and adultery violent crimes wow very christian.
licks2 09-02-05, - 08:18 PM I must admit that I am fairly conservative in my religious views and liberal in social justice and fair play when it comes to my fellow human beings whether gay or straight. Those who know me will tell that I am known for "biting the head off foolishness" wherever it appears (church, parliament etc).
The first question I encountered the morning when the young lady's story appeared in the paper was: " So what do you think now"?
"Boy I am too mad to reply right now...let my nerves settle first". :screw:
I did not know what I was feeling...here is this girl, big as billy right in ma face saying she gay like she mad at we straight people...and on the other hand the committee says she must give up the title because of sexual preferences!
After thinking for the entire day, I settled in my mind that no matter my inner religious feelings about sexual preferences, I must stand four-squares behind that young lady and the position that being gay is not what the contest was all about! She was the best out of the group! I cannot accept the position that she can only be free to pursue her dreams in this country if she's not gay. My conservative brothers, I am sorry...I am afraid that I must now break ranks and support justice and fair play...for the good of my nation!
If we can tell this girl that she is unfit to excel because of homosexuality, then lets go all the way and make all pastors, teachers, politicians and, yes, pageagent committee members who are accused of being gay to move from their positions as well! Otherwise, just chill...the kid is good, even if she lil brassy with it...don't send the message that she is no good because she is gay! That is too big a piece for even an old prude like me to swallow in one gulp!
If she did something wrong, then I can feel settled with their decision. NOW I FEEL OBLIGATED TO MARCH WITH THAT YOUNG BAHAMIAN WOMEN TO PROTECT HER RIGHT TO JUDGED ON HER MERIT AND NOT SEXUAL PREFERENCE! GEE, I WONDER WHAT THEY GER CALL ME WHEN THEY SEE ME MARCHING BEHIND THE YOUNG LADY WITH A BIG PLACARD THAT SAYS: INJUSTICE FOR ONE MEANS NO JUSTICE FOR ALL! :D
Abiskan Moon-Angel 09-02-05, - 08:38 PM i totally agree with you licks. kind of makes you wonder/question what position the country would be in should a certain politician decide to run for PM. i mean when will this crap stop? i cant stand to hear people go on about, this one cant do this, and this one cant be that- because he/she is gay. get real people. may the best man/woman/she-man/he-woman win, regardless of who he/she layin with!
BTW...while we on the topic...all the way across the pond I heard the Punch was hottt todayy boy! i guess everyone need to come out on this go-round! hallelujah!
:bahamas: :uk:
