View Full Version : Miss (Lesbian) Teen Bahamas Abiskan Moon-Angel 09-01-05, - 02:49 AM wow.... http://www.jonesbahamas.com/?c=45&a=5003 Vicky 09-01-05, - 06:38 AM wow.... http://www.jonesbahamas.com/?c=45&a=5003 I did take a good photo of her. Just had to fix up the top corner on the red section of the flag. I videoed the whole interview. I jumped on the situation as soon as her manager (another transgender) called me 2 months ago. We met with her that night and had her into a lawyer the next day. The lawyer in the end said let them make the next move. This young lady quite the COB to fulfill the roll as Miss Teen Bahamas. There was no indication that sexual orientation was an issue when she signed up why is it an issue now. Discrimination simple "She sought the support of the Rainbow Alliance in getting answers to what she considers questionable behaviour by members of the committee." I don't see why facing their conservative opinions is something new or makes this lil skinny chick special. This is because of who she is not what she has done. 12play 09-01-05, - 07:50 AM Correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe that our constitution speaks to discrimination based on sexual orientation. Be that as it may, common sense and natural justice dictates that the government should protect all its citizens equally. Private organizations should be able to set their own standards however.Maybe nobody imagined that they would have to deal with such an issue. This has to be handled dilicately. The Pagent comittee should live up to their contactural obligations to the reigning Queen, and likewise the Queen should do what is in the best interests of the continiued success of the pagent. RockWell 09-01-05, - 09:04 AM :dgi: This is my problem right here with fags,Why in the world did she have to announce that she's a lesbian? I mean who really cares what the hell you do sexually, I thought this was a beauty pagent. calton 09-01-05, - 09:27 AM At first glance this seems to be a clear case of discrimination! but it is really? While this delicate issue call for a well crafted response from those in charge, I think that the queen should be allowed to continue her reign, seeing that there is only two more months left before the next queen is chosen. In the meantime the council can therefore go ahead and make the necessary changes to its constitution if they so desire. Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere. Abiskan Moon-Angel 09-01-05, - 12:25 PM This is my problem right here with fags, you shouldnt use the word 'fag' - its discriminatory and distasteful...not to mention derogatory. You only have part of the story. Her ex girlfriends girlfriend exposed her. boy..does it even matter that the punch is not online??? all the scoops on bahamasissues.com -thanks vic! on the other hand, i dont know the whole story, but if she really is being discriminated against because of her sexual orientation, this is wrong - but to be expected (in the bahamas especially). however, what struck me is the sheer strength of a 17 year old bahamian girl to come out and make such a statement! if nothing else, she should be commended for that! canewry 09-01-05, - 12:27 PM you shouldnt use the word 'fag' - its discriminatory and distasteful...not to mention derogatory. boy..does it even matter that the punch is not online??? all the scoops on bahamasissues.com -thanks vic! on the other hand, i dont know the whole story, but if she really is being discriminated against because of her sexual orientation, this is wrong - but to be expected (in the bahamas especially). however, what struck me is the sheer strength of a 17 year old bahamian girl to come out and make such a statement! if nothing else, she should be commended for that! One should never commend evil... Abiskan Moon-Angel 09-01-05, - 01:06 PM One should never commend evil... im sorry, but are you saying that being a lesbian is evil? oh dear god...we have been over this a thousand times, and as you may or may not know, vicky is the expert in this area (pls dont get her started)...i do think that your equating homosexuality with evil is totally archaic and small-minded. Ting-um 09-01-05, - 01:29 PM You are what you do. A killer is somebody who kills. A thief is somebody who steals. A lesbian is a woman who prefers women. Delroy 09-01-05, - 02:27 PM If she won then they should give her what she deserves. It's their fault and not hers'. This should be a valuable lesson for all pageant committees as to the importance of establishing laws and guidelines when it comes to public events such as these. lynette 09-01-05, - 02:38 PM If she won then they should give her what she deserves. Totally agree. It was not an issue to state your sexual preference as a requirment to enter or to win so they should not make any changes at this juncture. For future pagents sure but for this one whats done is done. Its not like she has created a platform or tried to convince the teens to become lesbians. Her sexual prefernces was exposed to the comittee who did not have the sense to keep it under wraps and make what ever changes they saw fit to their rules and regulations for future pagents. She had to say and do something so.... Ting-um 09-01-05, - 03:38 PM So what's their side of the story?? |
