Well, if you notice, my comment came directly after and in response to what was stated in the post by Vicky. I also posted a link earlier from another source stating the same kind of comment was uttered. My entire stance so far has been targeted at the girls simply being out of uniform. It isn't my fault that someone had to utter some derogatory remark and skew the issue.
So you are saying the words "Gay Shoes" are more important to you than the fact that everybody seems to forget these girls were disobeying the school's dress code? If this is so skewed is to polite a word.

Marichal, why do I get the impression you have something against me? You are making this issue combative between you and I when I think we are in agreement.

At my high school in Freeport, the principal was very strict about uniform and anything that didn’t conform to the MOE standards was dealt with immediately. She would greet all students at the gate in the morning. If a female came to school in a skirt that was too short, either you took the hem out at the gate or you were not allowed on campus. If your shoe heel was above the specified limit, you were not allowed in the gate until you went home to change them. If a female wore pants to school and it was not the month of Dec, Jan, or Feb (when the weather can be chilly and windy) you were sent home to change immediately. See, as a former prefect at my school, I understand and I am used to dealing with a simple uniform violation.

My whole point is that if the girls came to school in shoes that didn’t conform to the uniform code, send them home. Simple. The problem arises when (read posts 45 and 55) you have persons giving statements to the general public that are known to be inflammatory. Considering the commotion and current mood in Nassau after the situation with Miss Teen Bahamas, common sense would be to use discretion. The fallout from what happened is evidence of how silly the comment about “gay shoes” is. The fact that we had 44 posts on this board before any actual statement was posted also indicates how volatile the issue is.

Look at this link: http://www.bahamasuncensored.com/#THE%20GAY%20SHOES

All I intended to say was that the person(s) giving this statement didn’t use any sound judgment. They spouted off their mouth instead of using discretion. This never needed to amount to anything more than a simple uniform violation. Why are people making this into something larger than necessary by calling them “gay shoes”?

Na holmes, dn't have anything against you, plus I dn't get caught up in the *War Of The Words*. I'm just wondering why everyone keeps focusing on those two words & not the real issue at hand.Vick I get,but I couldn't overstand this coming from you. ps. It was the Tribune that used those words,& we all know how they go.

You keep forgetting, some of us are not in the country, so the only information we have is what is in the media. I was responding based on what I read in the published articles. In fact, I could care less about the whole issue because as far as I am concerned they were out of uniform and were punished. But I'll say it again, the person giving those statements was just plain STUPID since they must have known those words would stir up controversy.

I actually laughed when I read the article and showed it to a friend (non Bahamian). She was confused by the whole situation and asked me what is wrong with my country.

Uh I was only telling Bahamasissuers the report that was given us.

I also asked how could shoes be gay....

(this is only meant as humor)
Maybe its like this the girls got together exchanged shoes so one girl would have 2 left footed shoes and the other have 2 right footed shoes. Same footed/ same sex.
Oh and maybe when the shoes were stored 1 was put in the other as in sexual penetration.

Would this make them gay shoes?? Well no because there is nothing about the shoes consenting to be worn on the wrong foot or for one to be pushed into the other.

Do you know that as a matter of law and MOE policy, there is no WRITTEN dress code for students above PRIMARY SCHOOLS? :shhh:

The other day, while typing on my sexy new multi-colored computer (the little cute pastel colored ones), my last daughter said: "Chief your computer look sooooooo gay"! As you can imagine, I almost "bust" ma head fallin on the floor and laughed until I cried! She looked at me with a wicked smirk on her face and said..."can't be me ya laughtin at...gatta be ya li'l sissy computer"!

Needless to say, it was this thread I was laughing at...You know, Gay shoes and all. GAY COMPUTERS NOW? Child please!
