View Full Version : nature vs nurture
finekameo 09-13-05, - 09:35 PM I already tell y'all...this only proves that his parents were dumb, and the doctors were sick bastards.
That's it...No homosexuality, heterosexuality, or gender issue is involved in this at all...as this is an extremely rare and messed up scenario. :hot:
I think I agree with you here. It just proves that the doctors were sick...but his parents were just distraught and gullible...
finekameo 09-13-05, - 09:36 PM Why does the discussion of nature vs nurture always seem to involve sexual preference or identity?? There are other issues where this discussion could be meaningful.
OK...lead the way...I was only responding to what was said already...
Ting-um 09-13-05, - 09:41 PM I swear, you must live in a world all on your own. The little boy was told he was a girl. He was given hormones and therapy, but still knew deep down inside that he was a boy, not a girl.
The same theory can be applied to homosexuality. If you get a boy that is gay and you try to tell him he is straight, no matter how much you tell him that or give him hormones he will still know deep down inside that he likes boys. I don't think I can make this any more clear. What they did perfectly proves nature and NOT nurture.
Ding-dong, you are wrong.
He was told he was a girl *BECAUSE* he didn't have a penis. They created a condition on his identity. Mistake number one. Mistake number two was believing that removing the production of testosterone created femininity. Femininity is genetic. Not hormonal. We've *ALREADY* had this discussion. There is actually a gene that *CAUSES* women to be feminine. This was mistaken for the homosexual gene, because effeminate men were mistakenly categorized as homosexual. Obviously this child lacked that gene and its not surprising because the presence of this gene was only discovered about a decade ago. So his doctor couldn't test for its presence. To add, hormones cause physical changes, not psychological. If you give a woman estrogen, that doesn't make her *MORE* feminine. If you give her testosterone it doesn't make her think like a man.
Such an idea is retarded. Like this thread.

Like I said! :dancer:
Vicky 09-14-05, - 10:20 AM That isn't proof of anything more than his parents were @$$h0Le$ for letting doctors persuade them to perform such an "experiment". That is just plain stupid and another reason why I fear for people in the US. They are so gullable and silly man!
This is upsetting.
And how could they manage to cut off his penis during circumcision?!! Is seems to me that the doctors intentionally did that, so they can proceed with their plans.
2 different hospitals 1 in the Canada the other in the US.
Vicky 09-14-05, - 10:23 AM say anti-christ! dont kill me!
What was done to this man was very cruel. What kind of people are persuaded to do such a thing, when the person is not even awere to make the choice themeself?
It is done everyday on intersexd, babies. Because they are trying to make them fit socity.
Vicky 09-14-05, - 10:39 AM GBTL or something like that. :dancer:
It was heterosexual parents. It was an arrogant Dr. who would do anything to prove his theory that it is nurture not nature that decides the gender identity and sexual orientation of a human. No matter how hard he tried he could not make some Bruce/David into a girl. Even after it failed he clamed its success.
Also Bruce/David never had an attraction to boys, when he was a girl. HHhmmm did that make him a lesbian?????
Vicky 09-14-05, - 10:42 AM man they just had a Special Victims Episode on last night identical to this story, they change it slightly, but samer thing was twins and boy grew up as a girl ... then was told she was a boy finally ..
Yep but I knew about this before I just knew it as the John/Joan experiment.
Vicky 09-14-05, - 10:49 AM Oh please...come off it and stop slinging mud. His parents, his male and female hetero parents, decided to go along with it. I remember hearing about this case in my genetics class to discuss the nature v. nurture case. If I remember correctly, there was an accident during his circumcision and they cut off too much of his penis. My first instinct would have been lawsuit, but the doctors (who by all reports seem to be hetero) convinced his parents it would be better to take the rest off and let him live as a girl rather than a deformed man. This has nothing to do with GLBT or any other letter of the alphabet at all...
It has everything to do with GLBT. It proves its nature not nurture or a choice that we are who we are.
Bruse was brought up as Brenda and could have simply chosen to be Brenda and attraceted to men right?????
The Dr. (who represents socities view of us) would have done anything to prove his theory.
Vicky 09-14-05, - 10:56 AM IF you say so! Matters make no difference to me,but I see this a dispproving the theroy of being born homosexual. This proves the fact that it's a learned behaviour if any thing, but I guess yall will see it differently.
Really here you have a boy being brought up as a girl and that he should be attracted to boys. No matter how hard this was pushed on him he was not attracted to boys nor was his gender going to be come a girl.
I say please try and prove you theory. You won't just put your foot in your mouth but all the way up to you knee and maybe more.

Sorry Rizzo Dr. Money was the (supposed to be) leading specialist of his time on gender and sexuality. It had everything thing to do with it. His parrents trusted the Dr. just as many of us trust Dr.s with other problems.
People that don't try to learn anything new are like this Dr, arrogant and the world is still flat for them. He did not care about what people told him about them selves. He would not consider that humans are born GLBT because they told him. He destroyied a family to try and prove it and he failed.
lynette 09-14-05, - 11:11 AM Saw that Law and Order SVU episode a while back. Did not know it was based on a true story.
I have a cousin who was 'intersexed' (I think you are calling it). Born with both organs. The doctors told the parents to choose which sex they wanted the child to be. They opted for a son and he grew up to be the prettiest most female guy I know. And he is not homesexual as far as I know. This was years ago though. Hes in his twenties.
I also heard that what they do now when babies are born with both sexual organs is to check them for womb and ovaries etc. If such organs are present then the child is considered a girl, if not a boy. They also encourage some parents not to remove any organs until the 'sex' manifest itself. (what ever that means)
Vicky 09-14-05, - 11:16 AM Why does the discussion of nature vs nurture always seem to involve sexual preference or identity?? There are other issues where this discussion could be meaningful.
Ok bring it up.
Vicky 09-14-05, - 11:53 AM Ding-dong, you are wrong.
He was told he was a girl *BECAUSE* he didn't have a penis. He was brought up as a girl this was not just told to him one day.
They created a condition on his identity. Mistake number one.
Your identity is your identity no matter what is between your legsMistake number two was believing that removing the production of testosterone created femininity. Femininity is genetic. Not hormonal. We've *ALREADY* had this discussion. There is actually a gene that *CAUSES* women to be feminine.I did not know they found a gene that made women feminine please post this info. Hormones will make the body feminine during and after puberty and can have a dramatic effect on emotions. But it’s the hormones in the womb that form the identity within the brain. Bruce was not put on hormones until puberty and as I understand he rebelled against being a girl then as well. But it will make a female body like a mans and it also has an effect on t emotions and sex drive.
Such an idea is retarded. Like this thread.
This thread like the experiment blows the nurture/choice vs nature theory out of the water.
Vicky 09-14-05, - 11:55 AM Like I said! :dancer:
so now you understand GLBT is in born ????
