Am I the only one trying to figure out what is going on in the heads of teachers at H.O. Nash? And we wonder why the public education system is practically in the gutter. I mean is it really necessary to interrupt the education of our youth with this foolishness? How many days of class have students not had and probably wont make up becasue of this? I personally dont see the situation that they are protesting about, warranting this kind of action. The Ministry of Education has already implemented police in the government secondary schools. I am with Minister Sears, give the woman a chance to prove herself, before you go beating your gums.

"Minister Sears said he will not allow such discrimination against an educator to take place at the junior school."

discrimination discrimination discriminationdiscrimination

Wrong out right wrong.

"The teachers asked for a man to replace Ms. Darville, claiming that the new senior mistress would be unable to handle the teenage boys at the school."

She might be able to handel teenage boys better than a man. From the point of over seeing a school what is it that a man can do better?

thats not what they meant. i get the feeling that they mean that a man would be better to handle the boys to show leadership, to show this is how a man carries on.

nassau is becoming a society ruled by women with a bunch of lawless males. this pattern is not good for society. God knows i believe women are powerful and can do any job just as good as a male and i commend the many bahamian mothers i see strugglin and providen for the household but when it comes on to a female being a role model for a male it doesnt work to well. this is one of the things nassau society needs, MORE MALE LEADERSHIP. at this rate pretty soon there will be female prime ministers (not that there is anything wrong with that) what is wrong is when the male population gives no leadership competition to females.

ever notice men are treated like dirt in the bahamas, ever look for a Fathers Day Card or Birthday card for a father or brother . well there are a couple if you are lucky, but nothing compared to huge amount of cards for mothers, sisters, etc.

I think women must be stocking the shelves .. whoops, they are .. you cant even get a job in most places in Nassau unless you are a woman..

what ever happen to respecting your elders - regardless of sex? why is it that a male headmaster is necessary so 'handle boys'? i think these children (yes even the biga$$ strapping boys in high shcool) need to be taught respect! period. a male presence might frighten them, but its a shame things have gotten so bad that high school students have to be frightened into behaving properly!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Have you ever stop to think that it has gotten so bad because there is a lack of male presence in schools today. If you check back 15 to 20 years ago the majority of priciples were males & even when it was a female there was a male backing her.As to the part posted in an other post,Females can not to the same job exactly as a male & vice-a-versa.Why do you ask, because we are structured differently & no La-La talk about discrimination & equality will change that.

mmm..you have a point...but have YOU considered, 15-20 years ago, the various elements currently attributable to bad behaviour were fewer or less evident? take for example the influence of TV. the crime, music videos, the 'get rich quick' mentality...yes these issues may have existed in the 80s. however, i dont think we were as influenced by all the things we see on TV (and if we were, what was shown then, was far less harmful). we had greater morals (i guess) and respect for each other. you would hardly ever see kids 'backtalking' or hitting their parents. now, our access to the internet, desire for ipods, mobile phones, dvd players have not only made us more determined to get these things and 'fit in' with our friends, but we will now do 'whatever it takes' to attain material things! it has become easier to get a gun and demand respect as opposed to gain respect through being respectful. two decades ago, broken homes were a problem, but the idiots we have now terrorising schools are probably the products of teen mothers (12 +) who knew nothing about parenting when they were raising kids. so i dont think its fair to say 15 years ago the problem was under control, because most headmasters were men. in fact, becauue women are the *superior* sex ( ), i do think we handle these situations (such as this) quite well. instead of beating the $hit out of a student, or challenging him -as your normal macho male hedmaster may do, we reason
