27,000 People Living Below Poverty Line, Report Says

An estimated 27,000 people or 9.3 percent of the country’s population represent the face of Bahamian poverty, according to a report commissioned by government officials.

Doesn't the amount of haitian immigrants in the bahamas mean the above is totally false and can only be some type of blow smoke up your butt it's not as bad as it really is Gov't BS?

I wonder how much of our taxes this cost?

They only surveyed a small amount of households. I would believe it when they use a private firm to conduct the survey.

probably to dangerous for any of the surveyors to walk into areas were the impoverished live so they couldn't count them anyways - you are right rory

At least we know, that the ministry of sports has extra millions...we can borrow money from that ministry to help the poor...oops...sorry, that going to Tonique...my mistake...

poverty kills thousands of people the world over
children die cause of malnutrition which is the first effect of poverty
