Greetings in the name of the Almighty Creator YHWH,

I am Berhane Mariam Smith, Under the authority of His Eminence Abune Yesehaq Archbishop of The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the Western Hemisphere & South Africa, Abba Gebre Tsadki (Priest-in-Charge: Responsible for the Sacramental and Spiritual Functions of the Church), I have been commissioned as the Religious Leader; Responsible for the day-to-day operations of “Medhane Alem Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church: Nassau, Bahamas”.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is the oldest of all Eastern Christianities. Without too much theology to go through, it could be said that the Orthodoxy (monophisits) believes in one nature of Christ and it is fully divine. That doctrine results in this strong division between two realities -- Man's and God's. An Orthodox believer has to make a more radical choice since there is no middle ground between Hell and Heaven. With over 35 million members, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is the largest of the Oriental Orthodox Churches, and is the second largest (after the Russian Church) of all the Orthodox Churches, whether Eastern or Oriental. The Church is also a member of the World Council of Churches.

If you are interested in helping to establish a local branch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, here in Nassau, Bahamas, then contact me via email at: eotcbahamas@yahoo.com

lol....the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church is not for "ethiopians" by virtue of race or citizenship. The church is simply named the "Ethiopian Orthodox" because it was founded in Ethiopia, when the Ethiopian Enunch was Baptized by the Apostle Paul in the book of Acts, and he returned to Ethiopia converting Queen Candace who then made Christianity the state religion.

"Ethiopian" as a phrase also meant "Africans" as at one point in history all of Africa was called Ethiopians, or Abyssinians, thus, we, the African Descendants in the bahamas are Ethiopians by our historial roots.

The Anglican Church, aka The Church of England, is from England...does that mean you have to be English to attend?

The Catholic Church, aka The Church of Rome, is in Italy, ...does that mean you have to be Italian to attend?

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, is the Church for AFRICANS and their DESCENDANTS, where the Black Madonna and the Black Christ is praised!

Quite right!
I am a Buddhist, but I am not from the Far East!
I venture to say that one does not have to be a Black African to join your fellowship. Am I correct? The love of God knows no colour.

Very true @ CG, the reason i highlighted Africans, is because a very large portion of the Bahamian Population are African Descendants.

I am a member of St.Mary's Ethiopian Orhtodox Church in Jamaica, where there white members, and Indian members and Cuban members who make up apart of the congregation.

Do you have any members here? Or it this just to see if there is interest?

 Damn! my bad! considering you DO have a proper ethiopian name i suppose its a bit misleading. so you are a bahamian, with a full ethiopian name, inviting people to an ethiopian church? right on....no wonder you didnt respond to my comments on the fabulous food!lol...
