Consequently, positive qualities like strong work ethic have been assimilated into our society.

I was not aware that a strong work ethic didn't exist in the Bahamas before Haitian immigrants got here, that's news to me.

we Bahamians would do well to adopt their will to survive and fight for what they want.....In 1804, Haiti became the first republic led by blacks. Today they fight to get away from the conditions in their homeland by fleeing to nations such as ours

Survival is a part of human instict, it is not something unique to the Haitian community. They have the opportunity to exhibit the natural human instinct of survival on a larger scale because of the circumstances facing their country. And that same will to fight is a part of the reason why their country is in the state it is in. They fight the democratic process. They fight law and order. 200 years and they still have not gotten it right!!!

Bahamian men could be more supportive of their families like the Haitians

Dont you dare attack Bahamian men!!! Maybe you have unsupportive men in your family but there arent any in mine, so speak for yourself. You make such incredulous generalizations, I genuinely hope this is a paper written for a primary school and not a credible college.

From an economic perspective the Haitian people have contributed to the Bahamas by means of their services

And they have also detracted from our economy as well by having us foot the bill for their social services that only citizens should be entitled to.

For instance, the self employed Bahamian man who maintains my yard, has three Haitian men working under him, equipped with machetes, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers and any imaginable tool needed to clean a yard. All together it takes about one hour for them to weed, cut the grass as well as trim the hedges, all for the low price of $50. Aside from the low price, what is noteworthy is the proprietor’s role in all this. He occasionally picks up one of the tools to work for a while. But usually after directing his employees, he either sits in the truck and waits for them to finish the work, or lounges in our swing

This is something incredible you missed. Your bias has blinded you yet again. This is an example of Bahamian entrepreneurship!!!! What difference does it make if he sits on a swing or in an AC filled office the point is IT IS HIS BUSINESS AND HE HIRED THE WORKERS TO WORK!!!!

For example they never forsake their cherished ones no matter their location on earth, their economic status or whether or not they see them; they continue to support their family.

I guess You have not met the Haitians I have bumped into. I have met too many haitian women whose husbands have abandoned them and their children in Haiti for the Bahamas and the U.S. Again unless you can come up with some hardcore facts, DONT GENERALIZE.

Undoubtedly the Haitian populace has much to offer the Bahamian people, by means of the skills they offer, cheap labor for quality work and a host of other benefits beyond the scope of this paper. We as Bahamians can learn a great deal from their devotion to hard work, resilience, tight knit family groups, enterprising attitudes, and a multitude of other positive qualities. So, the next time you think of a sinking boat don’t think of Haitians as the hole that caused the problem, but the plug that helps fix it. There is a common saying that you just don’t know a good thing when you see it. It is my hope that Bahamians look deeper to see the enshrouded benefits of Haitians.

Undoubtedly the haitian populace has detracted much from the Bahamian people by undermining bahamian workers in the job market by working for cheaper wages and other disadvantages that cant even fit on a piece of paper. Haitians can learn a great deal from Bahamians in the areas of respecting the democratic process, respecting the laws of the nation you inhabit. I sincerely hope you can lift the biased veil from your eyes and realize the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and illegal immigrants are breaking the law regardless of the circumstances from which they came. Disrespect for law is part of the reason Haiti is in the state it is today. DO YOU WANT THAT TO CONTINUOSLY HAPPEN HERE????? Your answer seems to be YES

You are correct.

But disrespect for the law...

Remember, Bahamians are the ones hiring illegal immigrants, smuggle em to the US (trust me happens more than you think), give illegal immigrants work permits in 3 days, get them out of prision before they go to the detention center, tip them off to raids, and let them squat on the land for measly rent.
