The man has no level of diplomacy!

:hot:

I hope Bush does not pick up any Joe of the street again without training them at least and making them an ambassador!

The bottom fell out from beneath Mr. Blankenship, and he might have lost the confidence of his staff in the process. So, one alternative remains- and that is to vacate.

What a relief, he came in with a nasty attitude and he is leavng with it, I say good riddance, we can live without Mr Stinker, He never thought too much about us, I guess he figured when he got here he would meet us swinging from trees, so when he realized what we were all about he got pissed, no monkeys to rule, well so long buddy hope we never meet again.:bahamas: :D

I think because of his undiplomatic behaviour he was forced to resign.

Mr. Blankenship's behaviour was unbecoming and had put a bad spoke in the wheels of the United States of America- brandishing them as being "Unfriendly" and "Bullies" to its ally due to Blankenship's bullying behaviour and unprofessionalism.

People must realize that when one thinks that s/he is in a position of power and tries to intimidate and strip another of its rights, that's when the curtain shall fall and the rug shall be stripped from underneath them. No man is an island and no man can sustain power and dominancy for long--history has proven this to us time and time again.

I'm glad he's going and not a day too soon! He is no diplomat and has singlely almost destroyed the good relationship that always existed between the United States and our great country. Didn't anyone ever tell him that almost every Bahamian has close relatives living in the US or American citizens? Did he really think he could go on indefinitely insulting and denegrading us as a people or country? I say jgood riddance and please Mr. ex-Ambassador don't look back. We are too glad to see the back of you and we don't like what you represent either. Have a good life in the good ol' USA. And by the way, we have friends in Washington and Tallahassee too!

He may have not been as diplomatic as he should have, and I certainly didnt follow his every move as others, but as any ambassador from the US, he would have only been saying what the US wanted him to, even if he said it with an attitude. Either way, do they have a new ambassador yet?? Also remember we need the US more than they need us.

And lately, nothing to do with the blankenship subject though, it seems that if a person no matter where they are from, complains about anything in the Bahamas, that that person is branded by some other bahamians as fowl mouthing the bahamas. Anyone visiting or living in the Bahamas, is paying tax (customs taxes on food, etc etc) and has a right to complain if something is not being done right.

For Instance: Like from my observation and from seeing it done correctly in other countries, the traffic department here in Nassau are not doing what they could be, to prevent or help alot of traffic problems or accidents. Ofcourse this is only my view (if you want facts and photos email me)

Ofcourse Drugs and Corruption is a much larger issue than traffic as it also has an effect on our local crime problems (and on crime issues I can fill you in too from seeing it day in and day out, though Id rather not, same stuff happens worldwide).

Here's to hoping that with the exit of the less than gallant Blankenship that the U.S. starts to take the appointments of its ambassador to the Bahamas a TAD more seriously. What with the Haitian crisis, the OECD disaster and the FTAA accident waiting to happen, Bahamian-U.S. relations are important to the entire region.

Why do we continually get the castoffs (Blankenship had all of the diplomatic skills of a used car dealer. Former ambass Sidney Williams WAS a used car salesman.) that the United States no longer has use for in their OWN country? Being the closest country to the mainland, you'd think that we'd curry a little more taste, eh?

No more cheeseburgers in paradise, please.

Whoever they get, I hope they start letting us Bahamians go to the US with out having to get a Visa and Police Record, we should be able to travel there on a Driving License also, like they can do to our country. I know some limitations will apply, but then thats for them to figure out.

Maybe its just me, or maybe the person I was talking to didn't get his story straight, but I heard that good old J. Richard was forced to leave or face a scandal if he didn't. I don't know the details, but it was something to do with a food importing business that he secretly had an interest in, in the Bahamas
