garnelleo 10-18-05, - 10:03 AM Honestly, the PM doesnot publicly address any issue. Immigration, the BEC fiasco, his cabinet, gas education.... The only thing I hear is when he is pushing for something he wants badly, (Baha Mar, National Stadium)

So true.
I remember growing up, previous gov use to address their people all the time from a national platform. But this gov choose to make important address at their conventions which to me is not right. Not everyone in the country is a PLP and will be tuning into their conventions. A leader should address His Nation from a National platform and His Party at their conventions

...but these tinpot bannana leaders we have dont get that. partisanship in a small nation gets Bahamians nowhere all it does is cloud the issue and stifles progress because people spend so much time on fnm this or plp that and the Bahamas suffers in the process. its sickening and to have our doofus pm speak up when it obvious the fnm is going through a power struggle shows just how politically unsavvy he and his croonies really are...who the fock cares you have the spot they want...act like it!
Great Demos 10-18-05, - 06:32 PM The PM is not allergic to national addresses. Remember all those speeches he made during campaigning!?
He either does not care or he just leaves the speechmaking to his ministers.
gian_18778 10-18-05, - 08:44 PM This is why I feel the country is on auto-pilot..........well more like stop and go!
Great Demos 10-19-05, - 09:48 PM Sometimes I wonder if maybe, the whole parliament is like playing house and the majority are going by an unwritten rule that "we are all one party (PLP), but we gata make the public think that there is an opposition, so lets row and fuss now and then to keep them in the dark" :what:
Wonder if anyone else on this board feels this way? The other day some fellas were talking about this and were even saying that some people are not much interested in voting anymore. Lord knows I've lost interest in voting since before the last election! :what:

no i really think they dont know what theyre doing- though they think otherwise (incompetence and ego is a dangerous thing),
I think they feel that the Bahamas is going to doom and despair and there is nothing they want to do about it but get what they could get before its gone.
I also think that Bahamians cant see that their organization, the cabinet is not cohesive at all! (why is beyond me?) I think that the PM gets no respect from his out of control ministers and the dont care one way or the next what he thinks.
I think that there is alot of cursing and carry on going on in those meetings and maybe that's why nothing is ever accomplished because of that simple fact of no ordiliness, no professionalism and again incompetence and egotism is the order of the day.
I mean little children playing a game of bat and ball are more democratic than these brutes. I could be wrong but I aint to far from the truth.
that's to much thinking for me Im thinked out
kbeneby 10-20-05, - 03:37 PM The reason the PM has not given a national address in a very long time is because nothing of significance has occured betwen the time his government came to office and now. He doesn't take a postion on any issue so his failure to make a decison on any matter leaves him with nothing to report to the Bahamian people. As a young Bahamian who will be voting for the first time I am very disappointed in the Christie administration. They came to power with a strong mandate from the Bahamian people and have left a lot of us shaking our heads in disbelief. The failure of Mr Christie to address the nation on a consitent manner just highlights his government's inability to deal with the myriad of challenges facing the Bahamas today. Our country needs a strong decisive leader who has a realistic and feasible vision and plan for developnig the Bahamas. Sorry to say but Mr Christie and his government just does not fit that bill.

Tia, some of this is very frightening but I believe its the truth, especially your second paragraph.
Even during the FNM reign I got the feeling that they had just about given up on solving some of the issues plaguing this country!
But let's keep our hope and faith strong -- as Bahamians this is our home so let's continue to hope and try for the best for our Bahamaland!
Factitious 10-21-05, - 12:30 AM In response to this comment I will just give you my favourite quote,
"Absolute power corrupts and Power corrupts absolutely."
People change in moments of power, our PM is too busy building phase II of the Perry Chritie Mansion to come and speak to us (he's the PM ya know, he has no time for such mediocre duties)
Just calling it like I see it!!!!:bye:
