I have the greatest respect & admiration for our Governor General Ivy Dumount & all those that preceded her, but I can't help myself but think of the cost to taxpayers in retirement benefits! I sure someone out there know the exact burden to taxpayers to cover the benefits to formers governor generals, former pm, and former members of parliaments who have all serve our country. But at what cost to taxpayers? The last time I made a count we had 5 retired governor generals!

While this may be true the large burden lies with the amount of expat judges, lawyers and other public servants to whom we pay exorbatant amounts of pension in foreign dollars. I do not think we should be paying our own native public servants any less than what we are prepared foreigners for the same service in kind.

I agree but I think it is only retired foreign judges who get pensions, not public servants or lawyers, both of which categories are on contract and therefore not entitled to pensions. I may be wrong but I think I'm right!
