View Full Version : Not the Haitian flag ronnie 06-29-03, - 12:38 PM well said yorick . candy45 06-29-03, - 02:29 PM I could not have said it better mu brudder, well said, maybe I said it too harshly but u summed it up, and Christ admonishes us to be good stewarts until he comes, so for the heavenly minded we must take good care of what we were blessed with, and if u are so heavenly minded until u feel that all is vanity, and no we can't take it with us, but if u feel so much love, can I have your stuff? what are u working for? why u lock your doors? man leave it open let me come in and take what i want. Be realistic. Much respect Mr Brown.:bahamas: Delroy 06-29-03, - 07:35 PM Originally posted by candy45 so for the heavenly minded we must take good care of what we were blessed with My Bible tells me to use my blessings from God to help others less fortunate than myself. All that I have came from Jesus Christ and if you are of Christ what I have is yours already. In the Kingdom of God all is Gods'. John 16:15 "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.” The Bible says that all is vanity and those are not my words but Gods'. Originally posted by candy45 what are u working for? why u lock your doors? man leave it open let me come in and take what i want. Be realistic. What am I working for? Take a look beneath my name, I am a worker for the Kingdom and that is all that I am working for. If I worked on my job for my benefit alone then what will I earn? Money? A home and car? All Vanity! But until that day when I am caught up with Him I will be working for His Kingdom, bringing souls to the His light and storing up true treasures where they belong. Why do I lock my doors? I lock my doors to keep thieves and murders out (who today in the Bahamas are mostly Bahamians). I do not lock my doors to keep out hungry people who I can help. Reality is that people are dying in Haiti and most of them are children and infants. Thats being realistic. May I ask what do you consider to be illegal: Someone leaving their country for another because of political reasons or someone leaving their country and entering another because of economical reasons? We all know that the United States treats Haitian immigrants differently from Cuban immigrants. What I want to know is what are different between the Cuban and the Haitian crisis? The reason that the United States gave for their policy on Cubans vs Haitians is that if Cubans are returned to their country they will be put before a Firing Squad. Haitians however are given a flight back to the same life threating economic conditions that they risk their lives and the lives their children to escape. Isn't that the same as being put before a Firing Squad? People wake up! Look at things with your spiritual eyes and see the truth in every situation. Ask yourself: “What would Jesus do in this situation?” God is not blind to the truth and nether am I and the truth is that WE ARE OUR BROTHERS KEEPER. There is no escaping that. One of the wises thing that I ever heard George W. Bush said is that “If we do not solve the problems of our neighbors it will end up on our front door.” God gave all of us the ability to solve the problems of our neighbors with his wisdom and that was the purpose of Him giving us His wisdom. What need do I have for the wisdom of Jesus Christ if I use it for my own benefit and not the benefit of others? And if I use my own knowledge and not the wisdom of God; I solve noting. Proverbs 3:27 "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so. 28 - Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it," when you have it with you." mya 07-02-03, - 08:31 AM I agree with both Candy45 & Yorick. 'Its all about RESPECT' in someone elses land. Hmmm- what puzzles me is that so many Bahamians show so little pride for our country but yet claim to be wrapped up and ready to support Bahamian culture. I say "wave your flag, wave your flag"- let your pride shine through. With our 30th anniversary right around the corner it is disappointing to see how many 'Bahamians' are not showing their Bahamaian Pride, but yet we wonder about our identity crisis. Be PROUD to be Bahamian. Rory 07-03-03, - 04:23 AM Originally posted by mya I agree with both Candy45 & Yorick. 'Its all about RESPECT' in someone elses land. Be PROUD to be Bahamian. prey tell, ,what is their to be proud of? Lets talk about nassau for a sec: beautiful beaches? crime free? great quality service? friendly people? Hmmmm. Independence was the downfall of the bahamas, or was it the PLP? Look at bermuda for an example of what nassau could have been. ronnie 07-05-03, - 09:20 AM :bahamas: :bahamas: :bahamas: :bahamas: my beautiful country rory u make me almost appreciate those 8 million haitians, and other illegals coming here.at least they know,it's better in the bahamas." proud to be a bahamian":bahamas: :bahamas: :bahamas::bahamas: Rory 07-05-03, - 11:35 AM Originally posted by ronnie :bahamas: :bahamas: :bahamas: :bahamas: my beautiful country rory u make me almost appreciate those 8 million haitians, and other illegals coming here.at least they know,it's better in the bahamas." proud to be a bahamian":bahamas: :bahamas: :bahamas::bahamas: i said nassau, not the bahamas. nassau is a dirty little city, everyone living here knows that, and those that dont, are contributing to it being dirty. Every hour I hear a bottle being tossed at my garbage can on Eastern Rd, but 99% of the time they miss, or maybe its the wendiesleftovers, that are sprawn all the way down the road. They gov just weeded the side of eastern road, and what is left underneath all the weeds, makes it look like the garbage dump, its disgusting. Its not about pride, its about respect and just being a clean person. Now are you saying its better in 'Nassau', then you must be tripping! Those haitians come here because anything is better than living in Haiti! The bahamas is a beautiful country, except for nassau 'city'. Its like how miami is 'really' not america anymore. mya 07-06-03, - 05:05 PM Rory, If you have 'issues' about Nassau or the Bahamas, then prey tell, why are you living here? Maybe you are one of those persons who simply don't appreciate what 'our' forefathers, great grand parents and other ancestors before us have struggle so hard to achieve. Do you perceive a glass of water as half full or half empty? I thank God for the knowledge that my relatives have left with me before they departed this land. Knowledge is key and I feel that you lack much about Bahamian history. The Bahamas has accomplished much since its cotton picking days and that history can only be passed on by those who lived it - so that future generations can respect it. "It is better in the Bahamas"- and as it is in so many other countries, there is always room for improvement. We all live here together and should make the best of what we have to build it up NOT pull it down. You mentioned Bermuda but what if we were more like Haiti or Jamaica. It's easy to have recollections of what could have been, but in reality we all must play the cards we're dealt to the best of our abilities. I am and will always be proud to be a Bahamian! Im here beacuse I am bahamian. I know much about bahamian history, probably alot more than yourself. Also, what if we were more like iraq, or china? Nassau CITY is a dump, if you dont see that then you must be blind, or maybe living in a dump is fine with you, or maybe its just where i live. Plus, nobody has regard for law and order in this city. People use our beach and leave it full of condoms and garbage, and at the same time make a ton of noise, but thats because the gov said along time ago all beaches are for all bahamians, even if they have no respect for others and run all over private property to get to the water, but thats another subject. Why im here is alot for that reason also, my business is dealing with crime, and there is alot more here than anywhere else I lived, including NY, hence alot of business. Anyway, back on topic, this thread is about people showing the haitian flag, deal with it, we are still a free country, if the gov lets them live here than blame the gov, not the people showing the flag. Its good to know you are a proud bahamian, I havent seen any improvement here 'YET' to make me proud. And there is nothing 'YET' to sustain why it is better in the Bahamas. We need alot more improvement. Bahamians want to blame all the problems on haitians and other foriegnors, whether they are illegal or not, when the majority of problems lay with bahamians on a whole, and even more so politicians. A prime example, a PLP senator defending a convicted drug dealer who is awaiting extradition. CORUPTION. More: Gov hiring family members who are electricians to install Video Surveillance at the airport, and they do so because they get a cut out of it, not to mention that electricians do not have business licences to do security. Remember i was talking about Nassau. I plan to move to Freeport soon as nassau is just plain dirty. Freeport is more like the US, clean and nice big roads. Thats where I was born. For right now this is the place in the bahamas for business and to make the money. Dont try to put us on the same level as jamaica or haiti, we need to strive to be better than that, since that is what is being put on CNN, its better in the Bahamas!? As for tax free, thats just an illusion, cost of living is higher here than in New York City, due to import taxes, and shipping, and shrinkage (in house theft or shoplifting) and that alot of larger companies do not have any competition, therefore we have a major problem with monopolies. As far as I was told, things are cheaper in Freeport, and even in some outislands where there is no duty, plus they have less shrinkage, a huge problem with Nassuvians. There are alot of bahamians that know the problems here and do talk out, but so many just ignore it or dont care, or maybe they just dont know how much better it could be. Others that do talk out are bashed like the reply you made, even though you know its true. The bahamas is nice, the outislands and some areas of NP Island, PI, etc, but nassau city, is another thing. Its simply a place to do business, and even that is hard for local businesses owners with all the breakins they have (in my industry i see it all) As for water, i drink from a gallon bottle, and if its full its full, if its half full its half full, and if its empty its time to buy another gallon! :-) I believe in logic and fact, as the world we live in is real, not a fantasy. Keva Poitier 07-09-03, - 03:41 AM I don't think so This sounds more like an opportunity to vent some attitudes , hostilities, fears, mindsets that initially may have been born out of ignorance (lack of knowledge) and have now escalated into isms. Delroy gave an excellent overview on how God requires us to treat aliens amoung us and eluded to our true status as human beings..... ie..... God downloaded each of us in whatever bodysuit He choose ( male, female, white ,asian, black, indian, eskimo ) where ever He wanted us on this planet. Until we accept his salvation offer, we are all aliens because the only citizenship that supercedes all, endures and has any real power, can make anything null and void or create anything lasting is his Kingdom citizenship. so,lets carefully consider the following ; National awareness etc is suddenly at an all time high. Good! As" bahamiams" do you feel that we have a national obligation to contribute positively to this nation? Yes,I agree there are some difficult and far reaching challenges that over the decades have surfaced as a result of the migration of the hatian people to this country. Our government therefore has to carry the burden of responsibility for the management of these people in such a way that our socio-economic structures do not collaspe . Sadly though no real workable formula has been discovered for this task.If screeming GO HOME was the answer then all Mr immigration Minister would have to do is ride on the backof one flat bed truck with one system and say "ALE AYITI,ale lakay-ou" and bush crack -man gone!!!! My fellow bahamians, let's be a part of the solution.Instead of mud slinging use these great brains you all seem to have to offer some well thought out solutions ,programs, ideas to our officials that may perhaps remedy this national concern. Walls of division are coming down all over the earth as global economics and communities are replacing the village structure and mentallity. Will you sink in old mindsets or swim in new paradigms? I say let God's will be done...He has the bigger picture in sight. Happy Independence . Keva. cross 07-16-03, - 10:43 PM hey i don't care what other bahamians do other places i'm trying to live by the law and if they want to do other wises then so be it they can sell thier bodies sell drugs or what ever if they want to work illegally in other countrys that thier other person problem. i have my own i want my goverment who i hired to do thier job now today if they need help we have plenty bahamians who would work for free for somthing like this.i know i will a real bahamian who loves his country:bahamas: classicromeo22 07-19-03, - 12:40 AM I think the main point is that Haiti does not have anything to celebrate on the 10th of july because they have more problems than i can count on 10 fingers and 10 toes if it is not your Independence or no national event your flying your countries flag in ignorance.:) vincentb 07-19-03, - 03:30 AM LOOK! displaying the flag of your home country is not a crime Iam sure that many bahamians and other nationalities display their flags in the U.S. and other countries, it is all about respecting that u came to this country for a better life and treating this country as if it was your own. if we were to check our family trees we would be suprise of where we were desended from. Do u think these surnames we have were born in the BAHAMAS "NO" all of them are imported. Lets not bash people because of there condition, but lets also be mindful that there is a problem. If a foreignor comes to this country legally and makes a positive contribution and respects this lovely place of ours, I don't see why he should not be accepted. On the other hand there are laws to be obeyed and should you brake them, you should pay the penalty. Liberator 07-30-03, - 12:36 AM They Need To Go Home!!:sailing: islandgyal 08-08-03, - 08:30 PM thank goodness people like you were not in charge many years ago. with your small minded thinking, one of our national treasures would never have been born. while you sit there shouting about how the haitians all here taking up your jobs, have you thought about the fact that you might be jealous? they may come here with out a shirt on their back, but they can read and write in two languages, and will work hard for their money. sir sidney poitier's father would have never found cat island in the first place if you small-minded people were in charge ... especially yinna that are too lazy to work alongside your haitian crew. it hurts my heart to see a bunch of haitians sweating in the field, being watched by the bahamian cooling off under the tree. you should be looking to their example, and NOT putting them down all of the time. |
