Interesting...

The news on the front page is dated Sept 13th, 2005. Who wants to read about Oakland stopping the Indians after the world series is over....

All this fast breaking news for $35 a year.

Sound very interesting, and I like the site, although some of the links are unclickable.

Not sure, but not really a "community", they are generally just another vacation related web site, which there were a few of them around back then. I came online in 1996 and Tropitec had been around before then.

I can see that.

Persons have approached me with projects similar to yours in the past and I told them to save their money.

When it comes to tangible goods it's very difficult to operate from the web if you live in the Bahamas for various reasons. Only one local company so far I have managed to find a solution for that worked.

I am working on a solution for this problem but it wont be easy or cheap and it will take a network of several companies in different areas to pull it off.

The only advice I can give you is to redo the site and use the custom Oscommerce store as your entrance page. The rest of stuff like the news, email, messenger and other stuff are really not needed and will only cost you time and more money to maintain.

I am not sure how you have your Oscommerce store setup to handle orders but from my experience it's just not worth the headache unless you and your customers each have one of those "beam me up" appliences like you see on Star Trek. :)

first thing would be to get a good shopping cart :p

and i agree, takes too long to get to the store ..

also, kill the google search, unprofessional, there must be some free php text searches, there are certainly free ASP ones.

news and media, etc, takes alot of time every day, to keep it updated, may want to look at that.

stick to one thing, shopping, and do it good, the rest doesnt need to be there, we got plenty of other sites for that already, too many of them actually.

learn some coding, at least enough to make minor changes, as to make a great site you need someone to customize it for you

Thank you Delroy and Rory for all those pointers you made but I am only a REP (IDB) for the company. The presidential team deals with the updates of the site I can only mention the faulties/advices/much needed updates and pass your word to them and pass your word on....

Yes, Rory you are right ekomers.com is not the first online community that's my mistake.
