View Full Version : One of them has to RESIGN!
will2274 11-03-05, - 03:54 PM First of all, I would like to convey my condolences to the family of the late Jackie Moxey on their lost of a well loved woman in this society. But I can't help feel that either "Mother" or the AG is to blame in some way for this horrific crime!
Why? The accussed was in jail serving time for murder/manslaughter. How in the world can you pardon or assist in the pardoning of such a person! I recently commented on the soft-handed approach to crime that "mother" displays, and now it has caused a young woman her life!
OK, she was granting a request by her family member(Ms. Moxey) to have her boyfriend released from prison-Fine. We all know women are emotional:lafs: , and she probably really missed him, but "mother", being a person entrusted with the security of this country, should have advised/told her family member that she just could not grant such a request! PERIOD!:hammer: She placed everyone in this country at risk by assisting in the release of a dangerous, convicted murderer! Unfortunately for Ms. Moxey it was her.
What kind of government do we have, when "family" can get whatever they want, without ANY regard for the public at large. AN IRRESPONSIBLE ONE! THE WORST KIND!:sparky:
In light of this one of them GAT TO RESIGN! And eventhough honor and integrity are foreign words for today's cabinet ministers, at least all the CRAP the others did over the past three years did not cause anyone their LIFE!

HOO RAH:bahamas:
sellie 11-03-05, - 06:19 PM I too must agree that the blame must fall on the head of those two legislators, yeah I know blaming them wont bring Jackie back, whom I knew and interacted with around the ball parks, but I hope their conscience would allow them to now think before they act on the decisions that they make. Not only was the accused pardoned and was serving life for murder that was further reduced to manslaughter, he had won an appeal on a murder rap that got him to be removed from death row. What going on this country, is it the system or the persons behind the system.
Abiskan Moon-Angel 11-03-05, - 06:41 PM if i understood correctly, then this is absolutely incredible! absurd! so this moxey lady (RIP) was related to Mother Pratt, and she got him out of prison???:gi:
sellie 11-03-05, - 07:02 PM No, I dont think Jackie was related to Mother Pratt, but I stand to be corrected, but as I know she(Jackie) became a Moxey through a marriage.
bahmaboy 11-03-05, - 07:47 PM all i gats to say is who in their right mind would date someone that was in prison for murder in the first place :shhh:

To my knowledge of the situation the DPM had nothing to do with his release, but rather it was lil stunt who went before the parole board to obtain his release. Now if they are saying the DPM interfered with the parole board that's a *Horse Of A Different Color*
sellie 11-03-05, - 09:38 PM We still need to do something with many of the laws in this country or we would forever be having incidences followed by some long internet-based debates, I am still cofused as to how can a convict manipulate the system to come from death row to life to parole. So there is no penalty for wrongly taking someone's life i guess.
thats been a problem here for years, murderers/attempted murderers, getting off, or getting short sentences, before mother pratts days. I dont think she herself has the power right? I see the problems being the courts in cases like that, ofcourse the original prosecuters dont help.

that's right, fire all the emotional woman! yeah right!, nut!
finekameo 11-05-05, - 04:57 PM that's right, fire all the emotional woman! yeah right!, nut!
LOL...that is true. Because if that were the case then there are quite a few men that should be fired as well. I know I have met quite a few men that if you say something they do not agree with, they take it to heart and make it a personal goal in life to crush you. I would say that this is in the same category as an emotional woman.

Lets not turn this into a male vs female thread, But i agree that the job of National Security is to much for some one who feels everybody pain. Do you know how much time she has stated publicly that the police have wronged her. This further the divide between civillians and police and if we are to put a dent on crime we need the support of a strong leader not someone who will cry and take the criminals side. (i dont think i ever saw her crying with the victims, then need more support than the dam criminals):cop:

Parole Boards een reach we yet...there is only perogative of mercy group or board etc...as minister of national security mother P has the last say on which sentence is commuted!
She makes the last call on each case such as the one in question!

Under Perry you can do whatever you want and there is no punishment for it... the New PLP is worst then the old PLP, no one will resign and no one will be fired ..., the Bahamian people will have to do that. ... SOOON.
