YOU missed the point.
I didn't see he should apologise for what his father did, but I think he should condemn it - there is a difference. My suggestion was purely a political observation and if I was his stragtegist that's what I'd advise him to do. It's all well and good to live our lives according to how the world "should" be, but as some point we all intersect with this annoying thing called reality and in reality he needs to do that in order to make himself viable as a national leader in this country.

My bredda come over your brian has been white washed by PLP propaganda and racial slurs:raw:

I was surprized (and saddened) too at how much traction the whole United Bahamian Party getting their country though the back door is receiving by black non-traditional supporters of the PLP. I can't explain it, but there seems to be a number of Bahamians that actually don't see that as ridiculous sentiment. That is why I think Brent should just deal with it. You extinguish fires by smothering them, not by avoiding them.

What fire???

we are supposed to be a must more informed generation of bahamian, if we give in to what is being said by the plp, we have actually gone back.

Why should we demand mr. brent to condemn anything his father may have done? Is that the standard we are going to set for all or just white bahamians.

We need to just make fun at what is trying to happen in our country, because they got to be joking if they think that mr. brent will not get the support from clear minded bahamians because they can not lead or their lies are no longer working with the people.

We want a better bahamas for bahamians...thats what their focus should be. They are in for a rude awaken if they keep this mess up:sparky:

I think it's a more effective strategy than ignoring it, that's all and you clearly disagree and that's fine.

I was going to leave it there but I suddenly am inspired to write something else.

As I see it Brent's role as Deputy Leader will automatically raise issues of his race - rightly or wrongly! Use that then as an opporunity, not a weakness. He should fashion himself as the healer of racial discord and come out as someone who is calling for racial unity - that should be his message. In order to effectively do that though, he has to acknowledge the mistakes of his family.

I have been tuning in to the FNM convention this year and am wondering if any one else notices something that caught my attention.
Last convention when there were nominations and voting there was widespead crying, back biting, bickering, mud slinging, b**ching and yes people leaving the party etc. because they did not like the outcome of the elections or did not get elected.
This time however, despite the hotly contested leadership race, there seems to be so much togetherness and unity. Everyone is being very diplomatic and although saying who their preferred leader would be, pledges to support whomever wins.
I wonder if Wells and Dupuch were still members of the party, would the ambiance be just as tranquil?
Watching this process this time makes me realize even more what rich spoilt babies some people are when they cant get their way.
Any Views?

this is 2005 and I feel like im in the antebellum american south (pre-emancipation). The PLP should be ashamed of themselves. I am ashamed for them. In this day and age I cant believe it. They are alienating Bahamians and playing on the intelligence of the MAJORITY of Bahamians and dat een right!

Bahamians we are better than this.

We are greater together than apart.
