Plenty of us are around because of this mix...but pleny of us are not! And, trust me...Isaacs are ONE of the "massa's" chilluns!
More than likely you are white or high yellow...loyalists children...children of our slave masters! Wha ya say "massa sir"? Lets not even go back that far! Start saying sorry for all the wrong ya daddy did in he life...:dancer2:
What you callin me stupid for? You'er the one who suggested that Brent say sorry for his PARENTS PAST!
AND WHILE WE ARE AT IT, CALL OBIE, AD SON AND ALL THE MPS CHILDREN OF THE PRESENT AND FORMER PLP AND FNM GOVERNMENTS WHO HAD A HAND IN HOODWINKING THE PEOPLE AT SOME POINT IN TIME....the list is never ending! And people like Sidney Stubbs and "Flying" Fred who een gat no chilluns them, could repent for they ma them!
BRENT IS A BAHAMIAN CITIZEN...end of story!:rip:
Papa there isn't anything high yellow about me or on me. I am a black Bahamian that grew in the heart of Carmichael Rd.
Also, my descedants emmigrated to the Bahamas from the Middle East and MARRIED a Cat Island woman...a Campbell no less. They in turn produced children that looked like Kendal Isaacs (their son). Now we all know what Kendal Isaacs did for the country in the form of oppostion politics during the 1980's so I won't go into that. One of their other children (Ned) married a Hanna, who coiincendtally was a premier proponent of the Women's Suffrage movement in this country. Ned and she and lived in the Pond off Shirley St. and prodcued a son Sammy Isaacs who in addition to being a "third rate plumber" (as Sir Ettienne Dupuch called him after he beat him in Parliamentary Election) was also one of the first six members of the PLP elected to the house. Just for the record, one of Sammy's children is Supreme Court Justice Jon Isaacs.
As you can see, the Isaacs family has made significant contributions to the Bahamas and hopefully will continue to do so, so please research your history before you show yourself for what you truly are.
See you probably now cause me to have to change my username...thanks dred!
Great Demos 11-18-05, - 06:43 PM Can you say head in the sand.Or you dn't believe YOU were influenced by your families mentality?
Marichal, it was reported yesterday that PM Perry Christie's father was a UBP (and perhaps his grandfather also?). Wonder how much he was influenced by his father?
What is proved by bringing up this UBP business when that party was dead and buried since 1967, and most intelligent young Bahamians don't even know and couldn't care less about it! :rip:
Maybe *Black UBPs* would be a better name for them ALL, cause most of the main players have switched between both parties over the years! :gi:
Tafadhali 11-18-05, - 06:50 PM I had to. I can't handle it when you reject me when all I want to do is be like you.
i understand it's okay! ;)
Great Demos 11-18-05, - 07:14 PM I was going to leave it there but I suddenly am inspired to write something else.
As I see it Brent's role as Deputy Leader will automatically raise issues of his race - rightly or wrongly! Use that then as an opporunity, not a weakness. He should fashion himself as the healer of racial discord and come out as someone who is calling for racial unity - that should be his message. In order to effectively do that though, he has to acknowledge the mistakes of his family.
Don't see how acknowledging the mistakes of his family would help anything. Many Would look at that as if he were guilty or did something wrong himself! Now if HE had helped to cause the mistakes of his family, that's another story!
You mean to tell me, if my father was a no-good jailbird who had a bad reputation and I grew up and made something of myself and attained a high position in public life, I am obligated to acknowledge my father's errors!!!???
WHY O WHY??? :dgi:
The public should, if they are sensible, have even more regard and respect for me when they consider from whence I came!!!
I would think that at least Brent has way more sense than to even do or say anything that would indicate he is of the same ilk as his family. Don't see how one of his intelligence would act that silly in this day and time!

It would shut up those that try to label him a UBP by addressing it head on.

No you are not obligated, but then again you shouldn't be judged for the acts of your father either, right? Your n'er-do-well father (hypothetically) was an individual, whereas Brent's being attacked on the whole ethos of the UBP.
The public should, if they are sensible, have even more regard and respect for me when they consider from whence I came!!!

Why be ashamed or ignore that he is a Symonette? It's his history and will be his legacy. To pretend that the UBP was perfect is as flawed as to say that it's absolutely evil. Acknowlege the social and political ills of the time, explain how you are different, enlightened, whatever so the jackals can't keep nipping at the carcass of a 40 year dead animal.

Actually, Issacs is a jewish name.....
Read the 2005 Bahamas hand book...it goes into detail about the Issaccs and their contribution to the Bahamas...
anyway what have you contributed to the Bahamas lately...
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:37 PM Maybe *Black UBPs* would be a better name for them ALL,
lol at the term black UBPs, man we making up all kinds of titles, in no time this name will be ligitimate like black conchie joes...
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:38 PM Papa there isn't anything high yellow about me or on me. I am a black Bahamian that grew in the heart of Carmichael Rd.
I didn't know, Carmichael Road had a heart, man thats a residential area...in contrasts to East Street...

You go dread! tell him about his non contributing to the Bahamas arse...Just kidding.... But tell him all the same...
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:41 PM My bredda come over your brian has been white washed by PLP propaganda and racial slurs:raw:
not white washed....black washed...
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:43 PM I was surprized (and saddened) too at how much traction the whole United Bahamian Party getting their country though the back door is receiving by black non-traditional supporters of the PLP. I can't explain it, but there seems to be a number of Bahamians that actually don't see that as ridiculous sentiment. That is why I think Brent should just deal with it. You extinguish fires by smothering them, not by avoiding them.
I still don't understand the need: I never met a UBP...and it was extinct when I was born, in the early 70's. Its like being afraid of Dinosaurs...for what they no longer exists.
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:44 PM :hammer: Agreed. Get it out in the open so the healing can begin!
At least thats what my therapist says...
in order to desire healing, one must acknowledge who has been hurt or wrong...
Who Symonnette hurt so...
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:46 PM What fire???
we are supposed to be a must more informed generation of bahamian, if we give in to what is being said by the plp, we have actually gone back.
Why should we demand mr. brent to condemn anything his father may have done? Is that the standard we are going to set for all or just white bahamians.
hmmm....
It seems as if only white Bahamians need atonement...
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:52 PM Amazing how people speak of the UBP like it was the KKK.
the UBP wasn't the KKK...damn the PLP has been decieving me!
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:54 PM What is equally amazing is how people speak of the UBP like it was a branch of Amnesty Int'l! Lest you forget, racial segregation was practiced under their watch. Black Bahamians could not go on certain sections of Montague Beach for lord's sake and couldn't work in the bloody Royal Bank of Canada...!!!! They were NOT the practioners of racial equity but of balck subjugation!
I use to wonder the same thing about the Democrats in the USA....they did not want to abolish slavery...I still wonder how can black people support the...then again how can black people support the Republicans??? Damn if we do, damn if we don't...
