View Full Version : Sour Grapes
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:56 PM I was going to leave it there but I suddenly am inspired to write something else.
As I see it Brent's role as Deputy Leader will automatically raise issues of his race - rightly or wrongly! Use that then as an opporunity, not a weakness. He should fashion himself as the healer of racial discord and come out as someone who is calling for racial unity - that should be his message. In order to effectively do that though, he has to acknowledge the mistakes of his family.
One must be weary of Greeks giving gifts...
canewry 11-18-05, - 07:57 PM did anyone see darold show today??? I heard he had Alfred gray on and darold made him look stupid:titongue:
Dat's because Mr. Alfred Gray is stupid...Stupid is as stupid does....Gray just made it easy for Darold Miller...
Great Demos 11-18-05, - 08:03 PM It would shut up those that try to label him a UBP by addressing it head on.
No you are not obligated, but then again you shouldn't be judged for the acts of your father either, right? Your n'er-do-well father (hypothetically) was an individual, whereas Brent's being attacked on the whole ethos of the UBP.
Why be ashamed or ignore that he is a Symonette? It's his history and will be his legacy. To pretend that the UBP was perfect is as flawed as to say that it's absolutely evil. Acknowlege the social and political ills of the time, explain how you are different, enlightened, whatever so the jackals can't keep nipping at the carcass of a 40 year dead animal.
Well my brother, we een seeing eye to eye on this and that's ok. Personally, when I am in a situation like that (or somewhat like that) and I KNOW for sure I am walking in honesty and integrity, doing my absolute best, I would be perfectly correct in completely ignoring anyone who think and or act in a way highly critical of my behaviour, cause 99.99% of the times they would be WRONG, UNCONSCIONABLE.
If they have one iota of sense they should be able to discern or see that I am different, enlightened, otherwise they would not be mere jackals but Jack **ses, and any effort on my part to enlighten them would be like casting pearls to swine!!!
PS. We blacks, when we attained power, we practised reverse discrimination
which is just as bad or worse than what the UBP did! So when will this particualr social and political ill of the time be acknowledged or mitigated!?
Great Demos 11-18-05, - 09:23 PM lol at the term black UBPs, man we making up all kinds of titles, in no time this name will be ligitimate like black conchie joes...
Yeah, that one, black conchie joes... now that's really a contradiction, the craziest name I've ever heard!!! -- can't recall who coined it, but was supposed to ask him where on earth he got it from???
Great Demos 11-18-05, - 09:35 PM I still don't understand the need: I never met a UBP...and it was extinct when I was born, in the early 70's. Its like being afraid of Dinosaurs...for what they no longer exists.
What wisdom!!! Man this is just great! -- I fully agree and I have said it before. You really have your thinking cap on tonight, eh?
Keep this up, and I may have to ask you to "come back into the fold..."
Great Demos 11-18-05, - 09:51 PM Brent Symonette do have to do nothing of the sort...
Because no matter what he say or does not say, people will say whatever...
Brent Symonette has every right to be and say whatever he please, when he starts marching to the drum of fools that he becomes just like the rest.
Beside I am 33 years old and all my experience came under BLACK LEADERSHIP!
I am a very BLACK female!
My dear, this, to me, makes PLENTY sense!!!
Great Demos 11-18-05, - 10:07 PM YOU missed the point.
I didn't see he should apologise for what his father did, but I think he should condemn it - there is a difference. My suggestion was purely a political observation and if I was his stragtegist that's what I'd advise him to do. It's all well and good to live our lives according to how the world "should" be, but as some point we all intersect with this annoying thing called reality and in reality he needs to do that in order to make himself viable as a national leader in this country.
And if he does this, I am sure most of the people would not believe him, so why do it anyway. There are so many blacks 'round here whose minds are so poisoined against the whites, I think they'd make a mockery of him by wanting more and more and more of his so-called (to them) explanation!
So if I were Brent I'd just "shut up" and do the right thing. I fully agree with Dacy in this regard.
canewry 11-19-05, - 12:54 AM Yeah, that one, black conchie joes... now that's really a contradiction, the craziest name I've ever heard!!! -- can't recall who coined it, but was supposed to ask him where on earth he got it from???
Amusingly, they got it from the black conchie joes themselves....
Tafadhali 11-19-05, - 05:47 PM Actually, Issacs is a jewish name.....
