Will,

I must raise objection to your asertations...obviously if there were 250 farmers registered in 2001 and there are now 2500 farmers registered in 2005, progress has been made. Even if it is more money into the National Insurance coffers. But I dare to state that there has been new farms created in South Andros, Cat Island, Grand Bahama and Abaco, to name a few. I saw them this past summer and they were not there even two years ago..

With regards to the Labour Minister's comments about industrial agreements, you obviously know less about labour issues than you do about farms...Every industry in The Bahamas has the appendage of some form of union or employee association. Industrial agreements commonly have a 3 - 5 year life span and then new contracts must be negotiated. It is at this time that workers become most agitated as they know whatever is agreed upon will affect them for a number of years. Negotiating agreements does not indicate labour unrest, it is a necessary process in every unionized industry.

The fact that the minister has negotiated numerous agreements is commendable as many such negotiations result in strike action. You really should study this process it is quite intriguing.

I have 3 siblings and one parent who are employed by The Bahamas government. I am also thus employed. Between the 4 of us you have a health practitioner, an educator, a primary school principal, a customs supervisor and an investment analyst. Two of whom opposes this current administration vehemently. Yet we all agree that this PLP administration is a way better employer than the FNM. One of my sisters, who is an FNM council member received more promotions and advancements at her job in the past 3 years than she ever got during the FNM's 9 year tyranny.

Life is certainly a lot easier for me since the inception of this PLP administration.

yeah well that was harsh, noone is smarter just because they are FNM or PLP, heck the parties are basically the same really, FNMs are just ex PLPs??
Regardless, everyone knows the FNM is going to win the next election since the current PLP failed the bahamas, and there is noone ELSE to vote for (??). Kind of like the US's last election ... the FNm just need to get their sh*t straight now .. so who is the leader of the FNM now???

when i posted my first post i had only read the last page, between then and now i was dyin of luaghter. at lest no body got cut, pg 3 was the best.
i feel the FNM are going to win as well just as I felt Bush was goin back to the white house. I just got that feeling from the contention of the majority of people I came across. From what I gather most bahamians are sick of the PLP and when they aint sick of them, they are tired of them. plain ole sick and tired.
The PLP neither the FNM should get use to long reigns from now on. The key to stay in gov is to do right by the folks and too many bahamians feel cheated and bull skated by the PLP, so many broken promises. Bahamians simply aint gonna put up with foolishness from either side and if it takes changin them out every election or two. thats what will happen.

Listen man, you of all people should know ya can't use the words 'silly' and 'ignorant' in the same breath when ya talkin bout plp. :gi:
Ya forgettin da fact they all bin ta da University of Wulff Road aye! :gi:
Boy wen ya talkin bout dese smart plp people ya better keep dese tings in ya head ya know! :sarcastic: :D

I might be a bit late, but I have to respond to this.

Firstly, the fact that anyone can state that supporters of the PLP are not educated based on what they see on television says a lot about that person's level of education and further their intellect (or lack thereof).

I am also extremely ashamed at how some us can so easily be so elitist and snobbish. We seem to forget that many of our own grandparents and parents were not formally educated.

Indeed, if it were not for the PLP, whose members we so readily ridicule and call ignorant, many of us might not have not have been able to step inside any tertiary level institution. The fact is boys and girls that the PLP created the Black professional class in the Bahamas. Before 1967, Black Bahamian Lawyers were a rarity, so please show a little respect.

It is by no means acceptable (nor smart) to call or imply that any group is ignorant for what they believe, I know many of us do this in jest but even then it subconsciously plants a seed that is completely insensitive and more notably inaccurate.

In my view the greatest failure of the PLP (1967-1992) was that when it created the Black middle class, public high school education and the College of the Bahamas, it didn't make mandatory studies in Contemporary Bahamain History or Civics. The unfortunate result of this failure are completely idotic remarks and wholly inaccurate assessments that are revealed when their equally idiotic creators speak and in this instance type.

The early PLP Cabinet featured men like Carlton Francis (brilliant mathematician), Orville Turnquest, Paul Adderley (Cambridge educated) and others, all of whom were extremely intelligent.

It is true that the PLP has traditionally fought for the advancement of the so called grass roots, but please understand that it was through the fight for such advancement that those who now call themselves educated were actually educated. The system in place would have effectively short-circuited that dream for the vast majority of us who hold cards in this group, so again, show respect and DON'T call PLP supporters uneducated because I am sure that I can name at least twenty of them that are more "educated" than you!
