View Full Version : Underage drinking????
Shane 11-10-05, - 05:04 PM What all do you think the Bahamas can do to prevent underage drinking.
Should you think that the Bahamas should increase the age to 21 instead of 18
I.D required when purchasing a drink when the individuals age is in question.
Increasing taxation on alcohol (this to me is a bad idea).
These are only some ideas.

ID is required now .. noone follows laws in Nassau .. dont you know that?
let them drink, just get stricter on the drinking and driving, as its 21+ year olds that are getting killed or wrecking other people's property or lives ... ever drunk driving accident outside my house, has been older persons ...30+.
garnelleo 11-10-05, - 10:46 PM Last year, I was 16 years old, and in the 12th grade at C. R. Walker. So one day I as walking home in my uniform and went to get some soda. All of the stores were closed except for a bar. So I went to the bar, and the woman, did not even let me step on the property, she stopped and served me the soda from several meters away from the building.
Yeah well I see how they stop the school kids from going into even the gas stations here ... :D
But still, thats kind of rare for Nassau .. but good on them, though not good on you ... :-(
Shane 11-11-05, - 10:24 PM Well I 17 in grade 12 (C.W.S) I can walk into a bar no questions ask and be served. At the B.K.C earlier this year when I was going to get something to drink, a woman about between the age of 34 - 45 asked me if I wanted a beer. Well any way if so I have never seen no one ask for I.Ds and never even question me (probally way i look old).
Well I guess they only lookin for extra money.

bahmaboy 11-17-05, - 01:50 AM the laws in nassau r extremly slack on this for real. one reason to many juk juk mom and pop set ups servin alcohol. where i live EVERYONE IS CARDED. the only way u r not carded is u HAVE look old ie grey hair, walkin cane etc. basicly pple 40 gets carded. Also they swipe ur license to make sure its not fake. I am not sure if these stores r fined if they do serve to underage persons but they take it very serious.
even though all of the laws USA enstilled to stem underage drinking many kids still do it BUT think of how bad it could be if they didnt do it.

Underage drinking in the Bahamas does not exist! That's like the seat-belt law, and a host of other laws that are completely, and entirely, NOT enforced in this country, and then we wonder why the place is in such disarray.

I see what you r meaning. Really the main that the bahamas is enforcing is immorgration traffic and drugs. So if they aren't going to enforce the law, they might aswell throw it out of the law book.

This is quite true, no matter what I have noticed, once you have money I can carry just about any where you want and what you want.
