View Full Version : THE FNM: A Formidable Opposition
YorickBrown 11-16-05, - 05:35 PM bey yorick lets go form one party! you have to put me in charge of immigration though..;)
*LOL*
Nah, I'd make too many enemies too quickly. If I were to create a party and it happened to get in, it would only be for one term. Some Bahamians are so used to slackness and handouts that they would vote my party out right away! Ya'll thought Ingraham was tough on his people? They would nickname me "Bigetty Brown" :hammer:
RockWell 11-16-05, - 07:05 PM Degrees are overated; universities are in it for the money these days so they will accept anyone and graduate anything. We should have more regard for those who are self taught. It demonstrates discipline. We also need to judge people by their proven abilities and demonstrated skills..Mr. Ingraham stands out and that is why they brought him back, in addition to his charisma and work ethic.Allyuh need to stop being jealous and stop hatin'.
FYI: Needa jealous or hatin.Cause when Pindling was in power I had to carry my black hip to work to survive, seem thing with Ingraham & Christie. The only people I see benefited from them being in power is Mrs Pindling & Hubert Ingraham. Also if Mr Christie wins again then he will be in that pension for life group. If I was to die today without leaving anything for my family they will suffer. But if yall want to praise these people who set themselves & their families up for life dn't mind me,just *Carry On Smartly.*
RockWell 11-16-05, - 07:10 PM Nope, it's called Politics. It took a lot of undercover work to get that much support.
He knew that he was going to attempt a comeback from the time he appointed Turnquest. He was aware that Turnquest was a "party man" and was relatively clean with no mean streaks.
"If you are going to uproot a tree eventually, never plant one that digs its roots too deep."
Smart Man.

Well, from what you are saying it seems that politics is no place for a gentleman. I hate politics. I don't think I could work along with a man like Mr Ingraham -- he seems to have that high-handed, dictatorial style of dealing with people which I don't particularly like.
I have had enough of that from various managers and supervisors on jobs I have worked at! Persons acting like they are God's gift to mankind!
was the PLP convention broadcasting church services on the radio today?
Cause a maid at a house I was working at today was outside listening to church music all afternoon, it was blaring loud ... :dgi:

Hey Spirit, I een no expert and can't say decisively that you are incorrect, but something really does not seem to be clicking here! This sounds like a perfect "excuse" for us blacks to continue living in squalor and poverty. If some of us make it to the top, or make something of ourselves and make a
decent, prosperous living, I don't see any reason why most of us can't do likewise!
The Good book says "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he". And if we would be positive, tough it out and grow up and "Grip the world", there should be no reason why we can't achieve in this life what we want to achieve! There are persons right here who were born and grew in dire poverty and yet still achieved success. It is NOT easy and it definitely cannot be achieved by a negative mind set!
It is said at one time there were many whites who were slaves also, but I have never heard of many of them letting that long-ago situation keep them back!

Well ofcourse!! This is what I am trying to say. Many Blacks inherited a negative mentality and negative social habits that has been passed down from slavery. Education about the effects of the slave trade is the only way some Black's will even recognize that they have this negative mentality.
This is why we should educate them about the slave trade, show the negative effects of slavery and teach them how to break out of the slave mentality purposely thought to them be their slave masters

I said that twice for a reason! So many Blacks are actually opposed to having anything thought on slavery. THIS IS WRONG! All I am saying is expose the TRUTH and the Whole truth!
Yes some Blacks have broken the slave mentality on their owned became successful. That's is great!
But there are many others who need help. I just want to expose to them where that negative mindset came from and educating them on slavery and its effects is the best ways to do that.
Sorry but I do not believe I am wrong on this one.
marvinrzgibson 11-16-05, - 11:56 PM The word 'an' is by definition singular and NOT plural prowler! READ your posts before you submit them.
Your concerns are noted. However, mistakes will be made sometimes no matter how much proofreading is done. It is a by product of our imperfect state. I have taken into consideration the possibility that this state to which I refer may not apply to you.
lawabidingbahamian 11-17-05, - 12:08 AM I heard so much talk about Hubert betraying Tommy haven't we forgot how Big bad Brad betrayed CB moss and refused to step down:jawdroop:

Don't worry, it's the Internet : If they have an issue with spelling on an Internet Forum or within an E-mail Message, then they should stay Offline and read a book. :)

Well Spirit, all I could say, to each his own -- we are all entitled to our opinions. It is said that during the slave trade many of the black leaders were arranging for their own people to be sold. Don't know whether this was so, but if it was, it would only teach black people today to further not trust their own people, in my opinion!
Also, how could you get today's young and not so young people to be interested in something that happened over 7 generations ago!? Most of them probably never heard about it or don't give two hoots in hades whether there ever was a slave trade over 300 years ago! The knowledge that their ancestors suffered repression and slavery would probably just entrench the mind set that they can do no better than their present undisciplined ways!
Take the abbreviation UBP. On the talk shows today (Thursday November 17) the 2 PLP ministers were using that abbreviation over and repeatedly. And the only time I ever hear UBP mentioned is when the PLP decide to campaign for an election. To me this makes no sense as the UBP as a party has been dead and buried since about 1968, and some of the young people may wonder what in the blue blazes they are talking about!?
Hopefully, we will be able to see eye to eye on other issues!
Tafadhali 11-17-05, - 07:22 PM George Bush may not be smart, but he educated and experience...
have you listened to this man speak before? he's a c student, everyting he ever got was given to him by his daddy or else he would fail at it. even his presidency was stolen for him. you call that educated and experience?

They are very interested in their past. Someone 10 years my junior was telling me about the effects of slavery. I am in my early thirties.
As for the UBP, If they know nothing about the UBP and their evils; It is because they were not educated in the schools. This is exactly what I am talking about.
We all know that that Mr. Ingraham would backstab his own mother to get back in office. So why should the PLP play it clean and then end up losing.

You still haven't figured out what really happened yet?
It wasn't a case of backstabbing at all, but if that's what you care to believe then you need to learn a lot more about politics in addition to slavery.
How can a man backstab someone who the FNM party themselves got rid of because they didn't think that he had what it takes? No one person can be blamed for Turnquest's unsuccessful bid - Unless Ingraham himself cast over 200 votes in their party's leadership election...

Nah, just saying that he finished University; an ivy league one at that...

This is what happens when we do not have good Talk show host...
The talk show host, should have asked them in detail what they know of the UBP and to name 2 Bahamians living that voted for them: be they black or white. They the last question should be: Are Bahamians still effected by this party that has been dead for some 35 years
