Excalibur 11-11-05, - 09:27 PM In 1997 during the General Election of the same year the Bahamian economy was doing well because in the economy money was flowing from the work of Phase II of Atlantis, so there would be no reason to change Government right?… why… things doing good. “Money in ya pocket.”
Right now money isn’t flowing because there is no major project fueling the economy so people want get rid of the Govt. like they did in 2002 (General Election Year) and 1992 (General Election Year) when also the economy was soft.
In 2007 the economy will be just like in 1997 but better because Phase III Atlantis (Bigger than phase II) will be finishing and apparently Baha Mar will be starting also in 2007. I see a pattern... when ever people pocket light; when in actuality its because there is no major project they change Government or want to change but when there is a major project they want things stay the same.
* 1992 started a new error of politics in the Bahamas.
What do you think?

.......so true.
chickoi 11-12-05, - 01:23 PM I do agree with what you both say, the point facing the Bahamas this instant is this if we dont Have a party that is functioning Democracy style, We could forget it, and as it seems we ony have one major Party that has its act togeather. the PLP.
See just how fast the United States will will rid us if we dont function properly we will be just like or worse than Haiti, Jamica and Cuba.
Mark my word!

lol ; :cheesy:
I can see how this would happen.
Let me make it simpler for you.....
There is no point but a simple observation. :uh:
It’s that simple; look at the observation.
I did say "I see a pattern".
This observation shows an economic correlation with elections.
Correlation ≠ Causation
The observation is that when the economy is soft people want to get rid of the Govt. and when it’s hard or doing well the opposite. This has nothing to do with a political party also so don’t try and work that in at all.
Hope this helps.... remember observation....

A very interesting observation, Excalibur! Something perhaps that deserves serious thought. Could it be that the opposition is throwing something into the works to deliberately undermine the economy so they can gain power!?
Then again, I seriously doubt that MPs can control the economy to any extent, otherwise the economy would always be good during their watch!
Personally, I just love to ponder things like this -- I think it helps you to gain wisdom and knowledge! :gi:

It is cyclical, but that also come from our unvisionary “leaders” They see it coming (meaning election seasons and the inevitable demise of their political party at the polls if they do nothing ) and they do nothing to change or the economy so people wont feel light in the pocket and find themselves with the same thing construction jobs and bedmaking all in the name of new projects. Tourism developments can only play on the intelligence of Bahamians for so long. We have to be more "creative" in what we call development or we will find ourselves a more homogenous bunch...bedmakers galore.

I’m still trying to work this idea out……

what you think is what I know , the only difference is, we have visionless and weakkneed people (whose ancestors were enslaved)- enslaving the majority of Bahamians. How many conchy joes do you see bedmaking at hotels? it is what it is all day trumped up slavery. This is what we get when our "leaders" dont want to work meaningfully hard at a better Bahamian economy.

So are you saying that because they educated themselves in order to get paying jobs other than making beds in a hotel something is wrong with it...or as you call it slavery...it is my view that every man has a right to decide his own destiny....by the way those maids make a lot of money..... it is mental slavery to think only white Bahamians can get good jobs or own businesses....for the majority we as black people like to sit on our:taped: a**ses and wait for the Government and the politicians to give us hand outs instead of doing for ourselves i say go to school educate yourself ...send your kids to school teach them manners and respect for the teachers, and they too can get a good job like white folk......stop bit**in:taped: and put the blame where it should be( at your door step ) Pindling Government has enslaved our minds to think once you are a white Bahamian you have no say in this society, which is wrong.
