This came to a head for me when I was read what an unsung Bahamian hero had to say about the whole injustice (http://womanishwords.blogspot.com/2005/09/why-dont-you-write-for-local-paper.html). Im sure a modern Bahamas has rrom to treat its women as equals. I need the Constitution to back up my rights, What’s the hold up? You would think with women in high positions in government (pratt, Gibson and others) they would be on our side working for their betterment of women. I feel like “3/5” a person, worse than the slaves because we suppose to be free!
How do we call ourselves a democracy when our constitution continues to treat women as second-class citizens?

well, our American neighbours to the west didn't give women the right to vote until 1922, 150 years after they got started ... we're only 30+ years old, so give us time?

I read the piece by Lynn Sweeting. Don't quite know what to make of it. Didn't know that our women lack rights to the extent she is claiming. On a recent talk show, many men were claiming the opposite, that the women have so much rights the men can't even see their children for whom they pay maintenence! I mean, listening to that show, you'd think it was us men who were catching all the hell in this regard.
Then I wonder if much of what she says is based on honesty, integrity and truth. She talks about Womanish Power, shouldn't this be Woman Power!? There are some things she espouses which are ungodly! -- abortion, use of weed, etc.
She seems to not like the fact that she is not married, but yet seem to be bitter, negative and hard-mouth toward males. These qualities do not a good marriage make! And no man should EVER tolerate this type of attitude in a wife or woman, or the relationship will fail and fail miserably!!!
