I was at convention hall observing the activity on yesterday, and I ran into a former PLP cabinet minister that I knew who confirmed to me that BJ and Perry had reached an agreement and that BJ Nottage was likely to appear at the convention on tonight.

interesting!
I guess Nottage forgot to inform Fayne Thompson...

Why are we surprised by the tenor of the PLP convention last evening?

Did not the FNM pepper its convention with blaring renditions of Christian reggae, calypso and soca as well?

We should be reminded to whom these conventions are marketed:

Roselda Rolle
Female 40+
Scraped through high school, or had to leave early (Baby Shanika)
4+ chil'ren and as many chil'ren daddies (at least 3 of whom are acquainted with the Po-po - that's chil'ren and daddies)
Gran-mudda to 1+ chil'ren (Shanika had de'Shaniqua at 16 - repeat)
Hotel/Batelco/Gub'ment employee or work in a shop
Paid up union member
Church 4 X a week (Blessed Jerusalem Apostolic Missionary Worship Center)
Speaks in tongues at least 1X per day
Throws 2X hands in sister's A-sue ( need new settee for Christmas)
Never misses her political party's rallies, conventions, cook-outs, etc. and never missed voting in elections.
Bakes a mean pan of macaroni & cheese

Exaggerations aside, it is easy to see why political parties would play up to this demographic. The spiel given by Mother Pratt speaks directly to Ms. Roselda and her contemporaries. Social ills are a constant companion for them; teenage pregnancy, drug use/trafficking, truancy, theft, violence, incest, financial difficulties, you name it - they live it everyday!

And have we forgotten the poignant report given by our Minister of Social Services - Melanie Griffin. She relayed statistics proving her government's record or improving life for people like Ms. Roselda.

Most important to our people are: family, church, union, tings, money and politics....not necessarily in that order...Such is life in The Islands Of The Bahamas!

Such is the plight of this nation.
Be forewarned that your words are blasphemy in some person's eyes - no joke! If you were here, they already would have called the prayer group to hold you down and pray for you. :voodoo:

My irony is that she is too hot for hell, so hell can't burn her!!! (she'll burn hell!!!)

Seems to me, your irony is that you are role playing part of an evangelical Christian and saying what such a Christian would say to her!
