going back to the church issue on why politics enter the church, this is where there are so many worthless preachers or whatever you want to call them in this country taking advantage of the poor uneducated people. This happens all over the world, makes me remember years ago, a friend of mine in the U.S. was out of a job, lived in another state from her family, had her last five dollars, and was listening to one of those no good preachers on t.v. (who eventually went to jail for stealing money from the church) and do you know she sent that five dollars, after this man said "even if it your last, open your heart, this will double and make you happy...yap yap and so on"
What I am trying to get at is, many preachers are playing the game of politics, and they have their partner in the back ground, the MP or tryin to be MP
I remember years ago when I would go to all the rallies PLP..FMN..my buddy who I would attend these with was, for some reason dropping a preacher home from one of these things, enjoying the sea breeze on the way home, man this preachers motor roller phone was going off, between the sweethearts calling and wanna be MP's calling from both sides wondering how they sounded up there on stage, this guy did not have a break! Lucky him though, I guess he picked the right party, he is livin real large now! like I have said before, the education in the Bahamas is real low, if one cannot afford to send their children to private schools, and their child has to attend the government schools, their child and the parents better be strong willed to achieve their goals in life and rise above it all. Not that a child in a private school does not have to be strong willed...but they do have a little cushion. I must tip my hat to many of the family island school teachers who are forgotten by the government and work very hard for the children without having many supplies... In the mean time drive along Carmichael Rd or East South, count the churches, notice the new tents, check in a few months, you will see concrete church. Amazing....bar owners like it, there is always one bar near by. By the way I sometimes do rub shoulders with some MP's. Hey, you have to, if you do business in the Bahamas, anyway I always hear them moaning about some church service they have to attend.....they better go! most of their votes come from the churches! Anyway the children might be getting a better education soon, many Cuban teachers are coming in...you know they are very educated, and there are many, I hear they do well in our hospitals also.

More of us are committed to our church than we are to our political party, if a politician said he was not a Christian he would not get his deposit back. All parties court religous leaders and are right to do so. Religous leaders are the moral compass of our nation. I hear a lot of people criticize them, but by and large they are good decent men and women. Not all preachers cheat on their wives, not all preachers are motivated by greed. The fact that most of our clergy show an affinity to The PLP does not mean they are corrupt.

Like it or not, preachers are more worthy of our respect than politicians are. If my preacher said that he thought that the candidate I was considering supporting did not deserve my support, I would have to look more closely at that candidate. I would not blindly follow his advice, but I would definitely not ignore it. I believe that if more clergymen supported The FNM, there would be many of you speaking about how important it is to follow the advice of these great men and women. What you and everyone else has to seriously ask yourself is this; Why do more religous leaders support The PLP? These persons in general are of a higher moral standard than the rest of us. The FNM could garner support from more clergymen if they simply cared more for people.

Now tell the truth and shame the devil.

Your suggestion to the FNM is to simply care more for people? You mean to care for the pastors, eh?

Look at the type of churches that support the PLP - Grassroots to the max.

Easy to control congregations who love their pastor to shout at them at the top of his lungs, every Sunday and Wednesday. Whatever he says comes straight from God, so when he says to turn left, they all turn left. When he says to go back, they all go back. When he tell them to give them all their money in the name of the Lord, they give it all, as well as the asue draw that they just pulled. What do you think they do when the pastor says to vote for a certain party?

Now check this other fact out. Notice how whenever there was a new board or commission appointed, there was usually one or two church leaders among the group?

Then notice how those same church leaders who were appointed to the boards kept their mouths shut when certain scandals went down?

Man, the easiest way to make plenty money and get on a government-appointed board without being directly involved in politics is to become a pastor! You have your congregation in the palm of your hand, so the politician becomes your "bestest" friend and will definitely look out for you.

Remeber it's only the people who have to vote for her that counts.
