My sister went a funeral this past Saturday, one of her coworkers past. I didnt ask how but when I saw his picture I now know why. He killed himself. A black man under 45 big and I dont know what. The starch and greasy food killed him, (with the onset of diabetes she later told me).
This coupled with reading a Dr. Weil book got me to thinking of my mortality and how Im trying to be here when im 95, that should be the aim of us all...to live a healthy prosperous life.
Then I thought about our prime minister and his health scare and how he's coping, and im thinking why didnt he bring us along with him and encourage us to eat right to live longer. (it could have had us in his back pockets come election time, but I digress)
so I started up my yoga tape again and drinking more water...that's a start I know I could do better. Lord know I love a sweet every now and then, but like I said I wanna live healthy and prosperous life so in moderation.
What healthy eating habits do you guys have?

You miss the point, certain genetic stock have weakness, for certain pathologies, the country will grow stronger if you do not let these continue.

In Taduffies case a weakness in thinking which if unchecked will be passed on genetically, the creator knows we have enough non thinking people as it is dont need to add more.

Health is optimal functioning of body, mind, spirt and environment, but you would not know this.

Well i know for a fact that i am out of shape. I had gained about 30 pounds. Since late last year i started doing something about it- i watch what i eat-stop eating late nights - most of my meals i prepare myself-i do lil exercise and i try not to eat snacks between means. If i do maybe a bananas or yogurts. What i also do sometimes is put on some music and dance a bit good workout.

seriously pple in the bahamas and america are killing themselves, i honestly dont know who is worst. but from my observation i would say americans are worse followed closely by bahamians. the reason y i say americans are worse becuase the majorty visit all you can eat buffets minimum 3 times a week. bahamians runnin very close becuase i watch the majority basicly shovel grease into thier mouth.

honestly i use to be that way, but on my journey to self discover i've been changed. eating healthy for the most part isnt hardand the food doesnt have to be bland especially after you break your old habits.

a person does have to educate themselve on what is bad for them and what s good, read the labels on the product before u buy them.

ways to eat healthy and be healthy is:

aviod trans fats, look for food with lower cholesterol and sodium, reduce calories is good to. find sbstitutes for your fav foods and for the love of god walk at least one hour everyday.

one of my recipes is what i call the 300 cal breakfast:

instead of that greasy oil bahamians like to use i use fat free 0 cal canaloa spray oil. it works just as good and is 1k times more healty

instead of reg eggs i use liquid eggs, which have like 0 fat, o sodium, 0 colesterol and 30 cals per two eggs

next is the suasage. i havent found a good tasting alternative yet but with all the bad crap i cut out with the egg and oil/butter i use jimmy deans which has 230 cals.

the oj brings it up to 300 cal.

i have lots of other good tasting healthy alternatives but no time to discuss.

n e way just wanna say when u eat healthy and excerise regularly u feel better in all aspects

Honestly,I have been to a buffet, maybe 2 or 3 times in my life"all at weddings" Eating a healthy Mediterrainian diet has always been my way.Fresh fruit and vegetables, green salad twice a day, plenty of fish and a little meat.I love Bahamian food, but man, there is so much starch and fried food.It tastes great, but I finally got my wife to cook my way"well mostly".lol :)

Theres a site called "Calorieking" that has a list of foods, restaurants it lists the amount of calories, fat, sodium, it has so much info, and recipes that I have found useful. So check it out. A lot of food doesnt have its calorie or fat count, well their data base is filled, KFC, McDonalds, BurgerKing, Subway etc it has everything.
