True, VERY TRUE! I wonder though about putting religious leaders in the same category with politicians in dividing us. Now if you are referring to those religious leaders who are NOT into the gospel of Christ, then that's another matter! The Good Book says there are ONLY 2 out of 7 churches Christ is pleased with!!!
After 1967, if the PLP had stuck to their original philosophy and ploicies, this Bahamas would have been colour-blind long ago, and an absolute Heaven on earth!!! Bad race relations, conflicts, etc, etc, would have been so far in the past even the old folks would have forgotten about them!!!

I think you are hitting the nail right on the head. It's sad many religious leaders in this country are 'religious leaders' because of the money and power behind it hence Satan establishes his best breeding grounds. Your point regarding PLP sticking to their own philosophy is definitely valid. This country has gone wrong because we allow this racial nonsense to dictate the way of this country. We should have smashed that bug a very long time ago. Even Jamaica whose socio-economic situation is far behind us has overcome their prejudices a long time ago. Imagine where we would have been if we stopped wasting time on black/white issues. We need to start the change within and stop waiting for the other side to change. We will get nowhere if we continue this madness.

Hey I see nothing wrong with Brent becoming DPM. His qualifications are what matters, he could have been green and I wouldnt care!

Beaniewoman I absolutely agree with you.I have witnessed more racial prejudice in the Bahamas than any place I have ever been.Black Bahamians against Haitians,Conchy Joes against Haitians and Black Bahamians,Brits that treat every Bahamian as if they are still Colonists and dislike Americans.Rude Americans that treat Bahamians as if they are morons,"as an American they embarrass me the most" The thing that puzzles me the most is the stares my Fiance' "a black Bahamian" and myself get in the outislands. Here we are a mixed couple in a predominately black country and people look at us as if we are from Mars.Incredably no one even turns a head or stares in the northeast, where we live during the summer.

BS....just cuz we argue, dont mean we hate em nor would we hold em back!

America...is a prime example of racism..blacks was and still are intentionaly held back and hated upon...
Britain, has a muslim population underneath even the poverty standards in their countries in which they ran from.

It really burns me when someone talks about the Bahamas being a racist country..:sparky:
You clearly do not understand what racism or discrimiation means...
:shhh:

Furthermore..
We dont hold Haitians back..in fact we WANT them to participate in our events and descision making process.
But here is what pisses the average Bahamian off like me..

Haitians come here..and want to live "off the books"..
They want to live in those shanti towns, and live in a perpetual ghetto style.
Slum is an even better word.

The whites..here had a chance..and blew it.
Instead of them getting on the bandwagon and paricipating, they chose to be anti plp...which at that time was anti bahamian.
They "especcially in Shirlea" made themselves outcasts...NOT US!
Those in camper down built their own "gated community"...WTF?
:dgi:

So get it right..the average Bahamian couldnt give a flying fart who or what you are..just as long as you dont stand in the way of the bank come pay day time.
:hammer:

Excuse me but I don't believe I ever used the words "average, hate or held-back" Furthermore,I lived through the great race riots of the sixties, when EVERY major city in America was on fire EVERY summer for several years.I always lived in a racially mixed neighborhood and I can honestly tell you that the anymosities between whites and blacks in the notheast were predominately brought there by blacks that fled the south because of poor treatment by southerners and rightfully had hard feelings toward whites.Perhaps you need to come up my way for 30 years or so,as I have spent that much time in the Bahamas, and then give me your opinion.I didn't watch TV or listen to form my opinions,I have been there done that.As far as holding anyone back.I invite you to my neighborhood and ask my neighbors,"more than a few of who are black"who held them back or how do they afford a home worth seven or eight hundred thousand dollars,or why it is that their children somehow found their way into college?

[QUOTE=Jessup]
While I agree with your observations, I must interject that the subtle indignation that black folk feel vibing from our white countrymen is very real.
Fact is, white folks in The Bahamas have always had the advantage, best schools, choice of land and houses, access to bank loans and plum jobs...long before Bahamian blacks were given access. Thus there is no reverse racism by Bahamian blacks...they (blacks) have absolutely no power to grant or refuse the privileges of the white population .

I think you are projecting your feelings onto everyone else.....your clueless
