View Full Version : Bahamian Slang
YorickBrown 02-09-06, - 09:05 AM so sad and it they arent working either...:taped2:
C'mon...
Anyone who take these pickup lines to heart is takin' themselves a bit too seriously. The aim at the very most is a smile or some form of acknowledgement, that's all. (You know you is like dat attention. I could see you grinnin' from here!)
Another favourite classic:
(Loudly and preferably in a crowded area) Man, I know dis gal een jus walk past me like she een know me! (To the gal: ) Gal I een see you in soooo long, how you doing? What keepin' you busy nowadays? Man, stop playin' like you don't remember me...anyway, I headin' out right now. Give me ya numba so we could catch up...I ga call you later.
*LOL* (And yes, this one does work...used sparingly)
YorickBrown 02-09-06, - 09:48 AM Another high school classic:
"Miss, you look so nice, I'd move outta my ma house fer you!"
k.o.o.l.b.o.n.z.e 02-09-06, - 01:08 PM Another favourite pick up line:
-"Hey Sweetness, slim slim (seek seek), whatchu sayin? Wha you een wan talk ta me ay, das aright, I still love you".
I tell you some of dese fellas hilarious.
LOL!!! i use that on some the caribbean girls here...the reaction is priceless
I don't know if this is slang, but it is a bad habit we seem to have fallen into. I heard it from the speech from the throne, I heard it again tonight on the news - all said by government officials and newscasters. It has to do with water!
Drinking water is called "potable water" not "portable water." Potable water means it is drinkable. Portable means to carry. How can we trust people to make our water drinkable when they don't even know the correct word to use?

chancellor 03-28-06, - 10:41 PM Am i the only one who don't know nothing about the new bahamian slang?! The only thing I say is Mudda sikk......that's the end of if for me. Somebody drop some of that stuff in a convo I would be so lost.....oh well....I need be pulled out of the darkness and into the light of slang.
canewry 03-29-06, - 08:45 AM I went to a night club with two female friends. We were approached by a young man who said..."y'all looking nice tonight! Da t'ree ah you is twins???"
Can't beat that pickup line!
