Mr.Speaker 11-24-05, - 11:27 PM I am a young voter, and I will not support the FNM in the next elections, just for the simple facts that they brought back a washed-up politician, instead of a younger vibrant leader.
I think Ingraham did ok, but his time is over, I would condemn the PLP, if after Christie leaves, they don't promote someone from a younger generation for leader of that party.
But as I see it now, the PLP is the party for the youth, and respects the youth.
I personally heard Frank Watson say on Immediate Response with Darold Miller when asked about the potential in the youth in politics, he said, " Neither the FNM or the PLP has any vibrant youths that I think can handle the Leadership now or for quite some time, Ingraham is the only man who can do it now. The youth don't have it right now."
That was a slap in the face to every young person in this country.
I can't vote for that, and let's face it, all parties mess up at times, but the PLP has done alot in this term, they got my vote this election.

If you are the same Mr. Speaker that was pivotal in the Youth Parliament, I congratulate you.
Can you be more specific as to what exactly, in your eyes, the PLP has accomplished in their term?

Mr.Speaker 11-24-05, - 11:55 PM For starters, in 3 1/2 years of PLP government, they have construted over 850 homes in their housing program, compared to the FNM's 120 in 10 years.
The external reserves was just 200 million when the FNM left office in 2002, now it is over 800 million.
These are just a few, but I am not trying to suggest that the FNM did nothing for the country, cause that ain true either, but the PLP has done pretty good for 3 1/2 years.
And I can't support as I said , the FNM, for their disrespect for the youth.

So I am assuming that the PLP has a better record in regards to youth being leaders of the party. And personally, I think house billing is a policy issue, either you bill more or less. When comparing both party, one should compare governance: i.e. social fortification, job and skill edification, general opportunity and nation building.
Your concept of they built more houses is a frivolous example, as it only benefits those who could afford to purchase a house. Now the PLP's urban renewal project is something to brag about...and thus far, that seems to be it!

My brother dont be fool by the number of houses built but how many people occupy the said houses; are the prices of the homes affordable? how many home owners are in default. The question might be asked who's fault it is that many people are in default? The answer is simple there are no jobs available in which they can work to pay for said houses. After all can they afford to wait two years for bahmar developement? While the reserves are nice the real question is this: where are the jobs, jobs, and jobs? why has the unemployment rate not change in almost two years at about 11 percent? why in three and a half years the goverment has not built one new school? maybe because they were busy hiring consultants to consults the consultants.what sense does it make to boast of 800 million in reserves and bahamian are starving to death? The PLP goverment has got to get its priorities in order.
I don't understand what you mean by disrespect for the youth relative to the FNM,but i would like to ask just one question:what do you make of Perry wooing Dr Nottage back to the PLP and giving him a substaniel post in the goverment? After all Dr Nottage is 62 years of age;he is actually four years older than Hubert Ingraham. isn't that disrespect to the youth?
someone is making a lot of money from the new homes being built by government.
By the way what happened to the teachers who thought they were paying too much for their homes after the joy of being able to have them? but after looking over to the payments having to be made every month, they saw that they were paying a lot of $$$$$$
Hmmmmmmmm ..
to say PLP is for youth, or any party is or is not, is rediculous ..
Regardless, who cares if a party is "for youth" or not.
Point is ... is there anything being done or anything on the books, from either party .. for:
Roads ...?
Crime .. ?
Garbage ..?
And regardless of that ... id think another question would be, where was the PM all those many months .. i know he was sick so im just saying (I do have compasion and I hope he is all well now) ... why is there a preacher in charge of the country .. i mean nothing wrong with Preachers, and im sure she is a great person, but we got a major crime wave going and the criminals DONT NEED SAVING ...
That said I have seen the cops out on the streets the last few weeks, so there is some major movement going on .. not sure what it is about but it looks promising .. then again, this is the cops .. not the government .. they report to the Cheif Of Police, they are doing their job (and making overtime ofcourse - which is good, lots of them need it and some deserve it)
Ma boy you sound like a disgruntled misinformed brat, that dosen't know anything about nothing...on one hand you said the FNM did nothing then you said they did ...have you got any of those homes?:fly: ..or do you have a home? :taped: dummies like you need to have a reality check..you a good woopi *****$ so you can wake up..... the PLP did good in their time and the FNM did good in their time......bias is what is...remember when the FNM came to power there was no investor confidence....we were a nation for sale corruption, drug trafficking was the order of the day along with cronyism....monoply of radio stations by zns etc etc....... man I will not hesitate to drink two cold beers and go on your roof and p!ss on you as you pass:dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :taped: :taped: :taped: :realmad:

Excalibur 11-25-05, - 10:54 AM the criminals DONT NEED SAVING ...
This is interesting. What do they need?
I mean the recidivism rate of going to HMP will not save them so I know that isn’t it.

I hope by the response thus far you see it’s not the PLP or FNM, its people in general. I was hoping some people would give you good advice whether for the PLP, FNM or in general but it seems that they just want to insult you for your opinion, having one and expressing it.
I agree Rory “Please keep it mature, we are all one.” Be constructive in your criticism attack his ideas if you may but not his character. Refrain from this.
Prosperity1 11-25-05, - 01:18 PM It's really hypocritical to say that the FNM does not appreciate and promote youth, not that youth qualifies one to become a leader, but qualifications coupled with experience and wisdom does; but just in case you didn't know Mr. Christie is several years older than Mr. INGRAHAM, so is BJ Nottage. Lokk at Christie's appointments to Boards. Reno Brown Batelco is in his 80's, Hotel corporation George smith is in his 60's, in the cabinet Bradly Roberts is 62, which is older than Ingraham, mother pratt I believe to be in her 60's or close to it, o you're not exactly in a position to talk about promoting the youth in a political party.
Son of The Bahamas 11-25-05, - 02:09 PM Mr. Speaker, what respect is the PLP showing to our youth in Grand Bahama?
NONE !!!!!
What about Grand Bahama?
The people are SUFFERING:mad
NO JOBS,
This is interesting. What do they need?
EXECUTIONS
or at least put them away for longer than 6 months for attempted murder ~
